Paradise Pier Superthread

No charge. Items we bought in the morning were usually there for us by the evening. I'm not sure about items you buy in the afternoon or evening!

Is there a charge to have items we purchase sent back to our room? How long does it take them to get there? Are they delivered daily or is your stuff usually there the next day?

No charge. There is a cut off time, which I want to say is 9pm. Items are ready the next day from the Bell Desk (not brought to room), after 7am. Anything sent after that cut off time would not make it by the next day, but the day after that.

We always stay at PPH but don't take advantage of this perk. With my shoddy memory, I'm always afraid I'll forget our packages! LOL

We never use it either. We like looking through our purchases after our day in the park/s and it just wouldn't be the same the next day.

Hi - I had read a post on this thread that one should ignore the signage at PP about how to get to the parks, i.e. instead of going thru Downtown Disney, you should walk across the street to the GCH and enter from there.

However ...... I've also been reading on other threads that entering via GCH on EE mornings can be very slow, as in 20 minute lines. Has anyone been at PP recently and can provide some details about what is the best way to get into the parks from Paradise Pier on an EE day? I'm asking because I'm pondering switching to PP for the last two days of our August stay. Thanks!

It takes less time to get to the parks if you cut through the GCH. This does NOT mean you will use the GCH entrance into DCA--I would avoid that as there are only two lines for bag check and two turnstiles (and a HUGE line).

Instead, as you enter the lobby from the sliding stained glass doors, turn left, pass the phone booths, and bathrooms, keep walking all the way to the end of the corridor (where you dead end into the business center) then turn right, out the sliding exit door. Twenty or so feet ahead, you turn left into Down Town Disney, where you will turn right, and walk a couple of minutes, to get to the Bag Check area. It's easier than it sounds, and is a quick walk from the PPH--about 5 to 7 minutes if done briskly!

We just did this for an EE two weeks ago from PP. Easy peasy, got to main gate about 10 minutes after EE started with no line, got right in and rode TSMM three times in a row without having to get off then did the same for Screamin. Had time to get back to the front to line up for RSR FP before rope drop.

I'm definitely saving this information for our stay in December ! Thanks so much !

a group of 8 of us are going to DLR for June, but only 4 of us are staying in Paradise Pier. Can the other 4 visit our room and use the pool if they are with us?

I read somewhere that there was a place to buy food at the pool. Has anyone tried this? Also, has anyone ever faxed a room request?

WDW preview center 1971, WDW 20 times, DL 3 times, Disney Cruise 1 time, DL Paris 1 time, Upcoming: MK, AK & DHS May 1-5, DL & DCA May 27-31, MK June 12

They can visit your room, but the pool is for guests of the hotel only.

It was closed when we were there last because they were painting the deck. We didn't get to try it out.

I'm excited to be staying at PPH when we come to DLR in October. I have never stayed there before, but we have stayed at the DLH before.

Does anyone have any tips on staying here? What would be the room with a great view of DCA? We are taking my mom with us on this trip and this is her first time ever at DLR and I want to make it has amazing for her as possible.

Thank you in advance for you help

we have a standard view room booked for July. I actually prefer lower floor rooms and noise doesnt bother us...what kind of options do we have? Are there rooms on the first floor?

We're staying July 7 -12 :cloud9:

We like to have a late morning breakfast in the parks after hitting park opening most days. In the past we've stayed at places offsite that have continental breakfasts and we'd grab something to munch on the way to the parks. Like a yogurt. Is there a little shop right there where we could get something the night before to store in the fridge?

Hi Everyone!

We will be going to DLR for the first time in the summer (August) 2014. We are a family of five adults DH, me, and our kids (well um they will always be my kids) 27, 23, 19.

We keep going around and around on this question. I'm not sure if we should book a two bedroom suite at DLH and request the tower with no guarantee or if we should book two separate concierge theme park view rooms (or standard and hope for cabana 3rd floor) at PPH.

Since this is our first visit, we are sure to be spending less time in the rooms. We would want to hang out at the pool for at least one or two afternoons, but probably not a full day. We plan on staying Saturday to Saturday and will most likely spend 3-4 days at DL/DCA and then two days at another venue - maybe tour of LA or Universal etc.

Any thoughts on which hotel and configuration we should choose? I'm also posting on DLH super thread. And thank you so much!

There is the Surfside Lounge, right past the Bell Services Desk. They have a counter where you can get made to order hot items, and a cooler where they keep yogurts, fruit, milk, pastries, sandwiches, cookies, etc.

There is also a gift shop(Mickey in Paradise) where you can get cold milk, sodas, OJ, etc. along with snack items--can't remember if they have yogurt in the gift shop.

Both places offer the AP discount.

If I had a choice of requesting a particular room type with NO guarantee of getting it, and booking a particular room type and KNOWING I would get it, I, personally would go ahead and BOOK the room type I know I would want, even if it meant paying extra.

We've almost always been upgraded at Paradise Pier, but we have NEVER expected it. It's nice to hope for something, but it would be a real bummer to not get it and then be unhappy.

We were there less than a week ago, and "Slurpin' USA" was open and serving eats and drinks. It 's open seasonally, so depending on when your dates are, I'd just call the hotel to check if it will be open.

We've never faxed a room request, just called and done it over the phone--I imagine you could do either, although when checking in, REMIND them (nicely) of your requests. Occassionally, they are overlooked, but REALLY good about fixing(or exceeding) them!

There are lots of rooms with great views of DCA, however, the higher you are, the better the view.

When you book, book a Theme Park View Room and request a higher floor.

Some have been unhappy with the higher floors because of the elevator situation (only two, and on busy days--SLOW), however, we have never had a problem with this. We just grab an elevator going up and then head right down.

When we've been on lower floors, we just use the stairs (I realize this isn't ideal with little ones, strollers, etc.)

I think you'll really enjoy the large rooms--they are so bright and cheerful!
