Pants optional at the parks?

We were at Downtown Disney and there was a small little girl, who was white as cotten sheets running in the pop up water fountain completely naked. Her parents were right there watching her, but I guess they were from another country that thinks nothing of this. There was another time at Ariels little water playground where a mom went to take off her small daughter's shirt and a CM told her to put it back on the child.

This is actually quite common in a good number of places at WDW. There are such fountains in MK, Epcot has several, and water misters in AK. AK also has one 'shower' water play area where you pull a cord and get a shower. HS has one small such area that I recall, but it's small and not really a fountain. (It's meant to copy Singin' inthe Rain, so you stand under the umbrella and don't really get very wet.)

Lots of times I've seen small kids playing in these fountains in their underwear or diapers. I don't recall seeing naked kids, but lots of times I've seen kids as old as four or five playing. Sometimes kids have bathing suits, but most often they do not. I don't think I'd encourage my family to do the same, but I've never thought it was a big deal.

Away from the fountains though I'd maybe find kids in underwear odd. Diapers not so much, but underwear yes.

Then again, I've also seen LOTS of folks comes off of Kali and Splash in sheer cotton clothes or the like. You know, the kind of white cotton they use for wet t0shrt contests. Only, well....lots of the folks wearing the translucent fabrics are not in prime physical form. Seeing through their clothing is not really flattering, shall we say.

Oh, and pretty much EVERYtime I've gone inthe restroom next to Kali there's some poor lady standing shirtless or pantless trying to dry her clothes - usually denim- under the hairdryer. Often enough there's actually a line of nearly naked ladies and kids waiting for their turn at the dryers.

I don't know but I would just assume they had some problem with their pants. Like, they were wet or dirty somehow. I wouldn't think much about it and FTR, my kids have never gone out in public without their pants.

ok...off topic...but sometime shorts are not enough!!! we were waiting in line at pop century last may and an old man was sitting on a bench by all the bus stops...he had one leg crosed over the other while reading a paper and his jewels were hanging low for all to see...really low...his wife was seated right next to him but she did not notice...yeah...part of me really wanted to go over to himand tellhim his clothing need to be adjusted but not sure how to start that conversation..."Excuse me sir...do you feel a breeze down below?" :lmao::rotfl2: of course both my teenage boys noticed and thought it was hilarious...

You know reading this makes me thinbk to go pantless myself. Since I am a big fat guy it might make the ride lines move for me.:rotfl2:

Oh that completely reminded me of the "Friends" episode where Phoebe was dating the guy in the bike shorts!!!!
I remember something about "Put the mouse back in the house!!"

I have to say between this thread and the "poop" thread I have gotten some good laughs today. :lmao:

What a crazy DIS day!!

Accidents do happen and maybe they were able to dry the undies in the bathroom but not the shorts!

Some people go to Disney with a very strict budget and a pair of $15 shorts just isn't included.:scared1:

The fact that you saw 4 small children out of thousands of people across Disney is a mere fraction and I doubt it is any thing new.

So glad we are all made up of different stuff, I would hate to sit next to me all the time:dance3:

Best quote ever! Thanks!

OP: Seeing kids without pants wouldn't faze me in the least. :flower3:

Dang it, now i have to make room in our suitcases for pants. Sheesh people! You're just making this packing thing harder and harder. :rotfl2:

I have decided to skip any planned TV viewing tonight. The entertainment is all on the Theme Parks board today!!!

I logged on just before work this morning and at the top of the page was a thread seeking advice on dealing with family members' "poop smells" in the resort rooms. Now there is a discussion about whether it is okay to wear no pants! :rotfl:

The funny thing is these are the threads that usually end up running over numerous pages.

Let's just hope that not too many people misinterpret the content of this thread for a recommendation of a theme park strategy .... :rolleyes1 ;)

Eh, who needs to pack.

Just tour the parks wearing only a pair of tighty whities and a lanyard to carry your Key to the World card.

And the unsuspecting onlookers catch a glimpse and shout: "RUN!!! The Yeti is on the loose :scared1:!!! ;)

And here I am reading this message in my home in a bra and tee shirt and nothing else!!!!!!!!!!

:rotfl2:

That made me put the water back into my cup.

Funny my wife does the same thing.
