Panama Planning

I think if we come from 80+ degrees into 50+ degrees.. we are going to be cold.. I better pack some jackets... :lmao:

I was thinking about getting a taxi to Long Beach, renting a car and then going to San Diego..

Just thought someone would have a better mode of transportation than the idea of a taxi.. ;)

I know Budget is only about 6 miles from the ship, so a taxi shouldn't be too expensive. I thing Hertz is about the same distance. I know the Budget people will re-imburse $10 towards your cab IF you have a multi day rental.

.

Trust me, it can get cold with the wind and everything. Again, I just may have to rent my jacket for a drink an hour.

We could bring windbreakers, they aren't that bulky to pack, but if it's too cold up on deck I'll be inside....I'm a desert-dweller and much too wimpy for cold and windy weather!

And I, on the other hand, would be in my room with air conditioner turned up high. I don't do heat well! :)

OK, how cold are we talking? 68 degrees may be cold for a Floridian, but for us 'Nawthonas', it's called summer.

Well it could be something like that, but, the fact the sun may not even shine the last two days, and the wind chill out on the ocean may make it feel like low 60's or even high 50's. This is the normal weather pattern for that time of year over here. I will put in a little silver lining, sometimes it is not always like that and the weather will be a little warmer.

As posted before on the Eastbound in 2005, I found 21 August first sea day out of LA, Cold and had to wear a jumper in the evening on decks.

This wil lbe your last day before LA.

I live in London so used to cold and rain, but I did feel it and would say prepare, LA it self was very nice, not as humid as WDW, but nice dry sun all the time we were there.

aan1701 and Andrew, Thanks for the heads-up on the weather :goodvibes I wasn't even thinking about the fact that it is pretty cool (for us) when we're in Anaheim, LA, and San Diego. When we go there even in the summer we always bring jackets for the mornings and the evenings....with all of the excitement of this cruise I haven't been thinking straight!

Jackets will be packed for sure! What would I do without the help and advice from DISers!!!!!:goodvibes

Come prepared, the Carribean sea is different to the pacific ocean, The pacific is more active, and the sea cooler than the carribean, LA is further north, and therefore more chance of cooler weather.

My Wife said, should be pack jumpers, I said 'NO' we are going to LA and Panama, she was soo pleased she was correct to pack them.

You are more than welcome. See you on the ship next week.

So, do you think we actually need jackets, or just a jumper or two?

:lmao: A sweater. Don't you use that word over there? One of those language differences.

Nope..we don't. This side of the pond, a jumper is a slang term for a person, that umm..tries to "off" themselves by jumping off a building, a bridge, or a umm..cruise ship!!

As far as clothing, a jumper was for girls, a sort of dress. It was one that was worn over a blouse.

I heard that Long Beach airport is 15 miles from the port... is there a closer Hertz?

Ah yes, we use it for that as well, but not for a little girl's dress. That would be a pinafore dress here.
