Panama Canal Weight Loss/Weight Maintenance Motivation Group

ps carmie, I was looking at pics of you and family at the back of the boat, GREAT pics by the way, you all looked so relaxed and happy.

WOW! you gals have been busy today! GLAD to see so many back on the wagon!!!

I discovered if I don't drink enough water, I gain weight (probably retained water).

This week, prednisone whacked my weight loss. Trying to stop the coughing. If it doesn't work, I have to have another cat scan and a bronchi-something or other that does NOT sound like fun.

Tami, There's a woman at my gym who's down to a size 16. If it's ok with you, I'm going to let her babysit the dress until I can fit in it! SHE will actually wear it, too - apparently ballroom dances 3/4 nights a WEEK! Can you imagine?

The twitching is annoying isnt it?
I dont get migraines thankgoodness, only about 3 in my life but head is a bit better today,
anyhow re your running, thats great, nearly 4 miles!!! it is all in the head, you can mostly always run further than you think you can, like in edinburgh, I dont have my garmin thingy to wear that tells me time, speed, distance bla bla, I went for a run and then went on www.mapmyrun.com and it turned out I had ran nearly 6 miles !!!! way more than I would have done if I was counting miles.

Try just one more lap next time!:rolleyes1

WTG on your 6 miles. Glad you don't get migraines, they're horrible. I had one once at Universal Studios in Hollywood. I was alone with DD, DH had the car stuck in traffic. As we were waiting on him, I was ready to just lay my head on the street and let someone hit me and end my misery. Yes, it was that bad! It was before I was officially diagnosed with migraines so I didn't have the right meds. They are usually not as severe now that I take Imitrex for them but occasionally I get a really bad one that takes a couple of doses to get rid of.

Wow, that's a cool website! That will be great to use when I'm visiting family next month!

I think next time I will try an extra lap. The problem here, it's starting to get humid and warm (mid 80s). Before we know it, it will be HOT and humid. I'll have to wait until the sun goes down, as long as DH is with me. I'm a chicken to go running alone at night by myself.

Thank you!!! Yes, we were relaxed and so very happy. The cruise was the best vacation we had ever had. I just love the sea days and looking forward to the 7 that we are going to have on the PC cruise. No rush to do anything, just take it easy and enjoy it!!!

I described my head yesterday as someone having my head in a vice and cranking it when I was driving home, I really feel for you, It must be just terrible having that all the time, I thought my eyes were going to pop out my head when I was vomiting, poor you, is there something sets them off?

Yes,enjoy and take it easy . but you will find me pounding deck four early so if you fancy it?? 6 miles aint so much for me really,I need to get butt into gear and step it up for half marathon coming up!!

Seems I have a few things in common with you folks! Trying to get fit and stay that way, love the DCL and finally the Panama Canal in January! Let me assure you those are not listed in order of importance :-)
I too would love to be a few, say twenty, pounds thinner by then. Right after the holidays to boot!
I am trying common sense, moderation, less wine and more exercise. It is going slow, about as slow coming as January is!
Well good luck to everyone!

They seem to come in waves. Sometimes, it seems that I get a few a month. Other times, I might go 6 months w/o one. I have a few things that seem to set them off (that time of the month, stress, and skipping meals) but not each time I experience those things (THANK GOODNESS!)

I plan on getting up and running on the cruise. I really hope I do. I was planning in Dec and didn't but I don't want to gain weight (or at least gain less). I do plan on enjoying the food while cruising so I better incorporate some exercise :goodvibes Anyway, what time do you get up and run? Are there many other runners during that time?

Wow, a half marathon! Please keep us updated. I would like to that someday. Of course, I need to run my first 5K but hey, we all got to start somewhere :goodvibes

Welcome!!! Good luck to you.

The good thing about the cruise, it will make me think about what I'm putting in my mouth around the holidays. I love to make candy and it's just too easy to take bites and try what I'm making. I'm not saying I won't eat any - gotta make sure it's good before I give it away. But one bite is all it takes for that, not 10 :rotfl2: Maybe I need to plan a cruise each New Year!!!

So true!! I bake a lot for the holidays and any kind of good eating habits go out the window. But getting ready for the cruise will definitely help me be good.

It was on my to do list when I was loosing wt, I done a marathom last year, the loch ness marathon, it was AMAZING.
I was wanting to do disney land marathon next year but this cruise clashed, so next year!
By the way, it is a bit at a time.
I was up pretty early, 6amish, then had a nice shower and breakfast,, I also done the spinning classes which were very very good.
It got steadily busier as the moring wore on, I also used the gym every am.

Candy, I could NEVER bake and not eat it:sad2:
I just dont bake. I wish I could buy a new metabolism.

AMEN, Sister!

I maintained from November through march, through two cruises, the holidays, and a month in Florida, so I know it can be done. GOOD luck to those who try.

Lynne, if you run the Disney in 2012, I will cheer you on! We can do lunch, after;)

Hi all, everyone has been so active while I have been away.

I have a couple of questions - first, do you have any recommendation on a heart monitor to wear while exercising - mine died. My BIL recommended the Polar F7, I think.

Also for those who run outdoors, how do you keep up the pace. I think I would just slowwwwww down. I need the treadmill to keep my pace for me.

Yes, a marathon lunch!!
Wow Lynne, you amaze me!!!! That is so awesome! :cheer2:

Anybody can do anything if they put there mind to it;)

I feel like I'm running slower when I run outdoors but when I time myself and note the distance, I have always ran at a faster pace.

I dont use a heart rate monitor except in gym when they are on the machines.

re running
I use a garmin fore runner, it tells you how many mph you are running at, then at end gives you top speed, average ,cals used and stuff.

Linda, of course I dont mind. I'm just glad it's getting use. Just collecting dust in my closet. I hate to waste things....

Ok. Prednisone whacked my weight this week - I went up and down 4 pounds in a week, so I'm relieved to report "dead even."

It must be tough Linda, well done, maintaing is a result in itself, that means theres always next week!
I lost 4lbs, 2 to get back to where I was!! but it was probably helped with the all the vomiting last week!
I went back to the diet class so maybe scales are slightly diff, but I am not weighing myself on both cause thats daft and annoying. Class really does help me.

Sorry about the steroids Linda. Wonderful drugs with crappy side effects.
I starting the "pre-conditioning" menu. I've essentially eliminated all the crap. And while right now I have a lot of choices to eat from, they're not my typical foods, i.e. no carbs or sugary stuff. I do get some carbs, but it's very limited to things that won't spike your blood sugar.
I'm doing ok on the water. I've already had 32 oz since 7am. I'll undo a lot of the good I'm doing this weekend, we're going to Epcot with my best friend who's in from out of town. But I knew that and that's why I gave myself the extra time.
