Panama Canal Eastbound Sept. 14, 2013--it'll be WONDER-ful

Any previous PC cruisers recall if they did something where they offered a discount on a bag of laundry to be cleaned and pressed? I seem to recall that I have heard of them doing that...

I don't remember them doing that in 2005, but things could have changed. We purposely had a cabin across from the laundry room. We always knew when it was available. The last time we sailed the PC, our DD was 2. We had an entire suitcase filled with diapers and accesories. The good thing was we had an almost empty suitcase for souveniers for the trip home!

I just counted about 40 cabins left on this cruise. Only 3 are verandahs...I keep looking and hoping that we have been assigned a room, but so far no luck in that category!

We have not done a PC before but they did not do this in the MED for 12 days. Royal does have this laundry deal run on their 7 and longer day cruises but they do not have guest laundries available.

No discounts on laundry for May 2013 PC / No robes in ov or veranda rooms. Great times to be had in all rooms that's why I re booked.

I remember hearing reports of Transatlantic cruisers having the offer, but I can't remember if it was offered to us on the Panama Canal cruise I did in January 2011. I've never done laundry on vacation, though, other than washing a few items in the sink. I do, however, get my formal/semiformal dresses dry-cleaned or at least pressed on the ship since it's reasonably priced and makes the packing a whole lot easier.

I just realized that September 16 is Mexican Independence Day. Does anyone anticipate any impact on our Cabo visit? Initially I was thinking perhaps stores closed for the holiday, but as a solo young(ish) female traveler I'm wondering if there might be any additional safety concerns from rowdy festive locals.

Cool. From what little reading I did, a lot of the festivities are the evening of the 15th. They have parties and fireworks etc. There may be parades or something on the 16th.

I've been told that soda is not free on board, but I've seen posts saying it is.
I've also run across something "official" that said there was a charge.

Can anyone clarify?

I noticed in some of the Navigators posted on these boards that "nominal fee" was sometimes listed for activities.

1. If an activity does have a fee, is it always listed on the Navigator?
2. Can anyone give me ideas of things that have fees, and of approximate costs?

(Almost everything was free on my first cruise, and on my second, almost everything had a charge...both on Carnival)

Thanks!

You will be charged for a "Coke" in the can. IE from a bar.

The drink stations on deck nine are free. Or when you go for lunch or dinner is free too

From the looks of the posts on the FB page, it looks like lots of us got our cabin assignments today. Some are happy, some are not. I am happy! We are on the ship and that is what matters!
