Panama Canal Eastbound Sept. 14, 2013--it'll be WONDER-ful

Never mind, when I went back on DCL and found an excursion to Chakanaab (that I swear wasn't there when I originally booked excursions) and went ahead and booked through DCL. It is costing me maybe $100 more, but worth it for the piece of mind to do it through DCL. Plus I upgraded, going to do the Dolphin push/pull. Hope my mom can do it and my kids don't freak out!! :dance3:

We did this there last year and loved it! I would be happy to answer any questions you might have.

Oh thank you so much!

Do you recall how far of a walk it is from where the cab drops you off until the water? My mom is 80 and must use a walker or a cane. She can only walk a few yards without having to rest.

How much we're the pictures? We're they worth it?

Thanks!

The cab drops you off right at the entrance. I didn't think it was very far but it might be a little far for your mom. In not sure but they might have a wheelchair that you could rent or use. I could be worth finding out.
I thought the pictures were very expensive. You can only buy the cd. I want to say we paid around $300, but they charge for the amount of pictures that were on the cd. We had a lot if photos because we had 9 people in our party. We could have paid for them separately but we saved a little bit of money having them on one cd.
I hope this helps.
I hope you get the same dolphin we did. Her name is Amerika. She was so sweet.

Does anyone know whether it is still allowable to bring a bottle of liquor onto the ship? I can only find references to bringing wine, and I don't drink wine.

Also, my daughter would like to purchase some See's Candies while in Los Angeles, and bring them back home. Will the ship allow her to bring on board?

Thanks!

Yes & Yes. You have to bring your liquor on board with your carry-on luggage.

Finished the check in process online! Yay!

Long, shared Google doc, with things to do and pack. SO FUN!

Now, if I can only arrange the early dinner seating once we board, since I cannot eat late.....

Ready to get this party started!
party:party:party:

Can anyone also tell me if there is a way to receive emailed notifications of posts on this forum?

I appreciate all of the help!

Woohoo! I got the email notification, making my life just a bit easier!

Yes, flying out of Charlotte on the 12th, doing Disneyland/CA Adventure on the 13, which includes lunch at Club 33. Cruisin' on a Saturday afternoon...on the 14th. LOL

We're in Apex, nearRaleigh. Are you flying out of Charlotte to LA?

I know there are washers and dryers on the ship, but wondering if anyone has other types of wonderful tips for how they handle the needs of two weeks worth of clothing?

Our DD has some clothing she got from REI that is a sink wash and hang over tub dry which dries quickly and does not wrinkle or stiffen. Can't remember what it is called but she takes it to Guatemala and Galapagos, works great.

DH and I have done one B2B cruise which was 14 days on a different cruiseline. We sent a few items to be dry cleaned and a few others to be laundered since they did not have washer and dryers on board. The cruiseline offered a reduced rate for a bag of laundry for us. This was mostly my husband's things.

I had picked up some t-shirts by Danskin (from Walmart) that were great to hand wash and hang dry. Undies can easily be hand washed and dried. Our room did look like we did not have enough closet space with all of the things hanging about, but not for too long.

Didn't worry too much about dress wear for evenings. We just wore some of the same clothes more than once. The evening wear was fine since usually those clothes are worn for a few hours at a time.

Unless we were in a situation to get really sweaty, we would wear shorts and capris more than once as well. No one ran away as we walked in a room, so I think we were ok ;) I had workout clothes that I used only for that purpose.

I'm not really sure how families with small children do it. I suppose washing would really be something I would do in that case. As adults, it's a bit easier to stay neat. Although, all bets are off when I'm eating! :rotfl2:

Any previous PC cruisers recall if they did something where they offered a discount on a bag of laundry to be cleaned and pressed? I seem to recall that I have heard of them doing that...
