Panama Canal Eastbound Sept. 14, 2013--it'll be WONDER-ful

Thanks Kathy for all your work! As I sit here on hold with WDW (Free dining came out today) I am putting together the F/Es! Not to spoil my whole F/E, but I know some of you may need this for planning - I am including a couple 3 in 1 sheets (I ordered some on Amazon) per cabin. Those are so hard to find and perfect for travel! Even if you don't do laundry on the ship you can put them with your dirty clothes and they will smell better!

I love that we are now only a month away!!!:cool1:

Excitement galore!!!

I got the e-mail about free dining, but since I always do vacation club, that doesn't apply to me.

I now have to get totally serious about the FE's. I have the basic bulk of it done, but now I have to tweak everything to my satisfaction.

I will do one final look over of the FE document this evening when I get home from work and then I will pronounce it final and close it on the roll call post.

I don't know about everyone else, but it is HOT in Texas today, We have been over 100. Can't complain since it has not happened very much this year, but since we have had more rain than normal the humidity has been extra bad also.

We can finally say we cruise next month!!!

Socalmufasa: Which one did you do in 2005, the 1st or 2nd crossing? We were on the 2nd one in August. Had a great time!

Welcome to all the new cruisers!

We enjoyed the 2nd crossing, I do hope the canal crossing is as pleasant as our first trip!!!

As of now you have a total post number of 7. Once you have posted on the DIS 10 times, you will be able to send and receive PM's which is how I send the FE document link to the members of the group. So if you can do 3 more posts, you will be set.

:welcome: So glad you are joining us.

Thanks for the help. I sent three yesterday but it only counted as one, so I will get to ten as fast as I can

Nice! I was on the first 2005 crossing and the Wonder's first crossing in 2011, so this will be my 3rd crossing but my first time heading eastbound. I hope the time changes don't mess me up too much. I had a heck of a time on the westbounds with waking up earlier and earlier every day. I know that by the end of the 2005 cruise, I was up and out of the cabin by 5am every morning sitting at a computer in the promenade lounge waiting for Topsiders to open. I specifically booked OGT instead of IGT so I'll be able to get some help from the daylight cues in the morning to help with the "jetlag".

I'm starting to feel like this trip will be here before I know it; it's feeling more "real" instead of just "planning". USAir finally dropped the pricing for the IAH-PVD on the 28th so I snagged my flight (1:50pm departure since DCL told me they were recommending return flights after 1:30pm). I'll be adding their transfer since the $30 seems like a good deal for a single. I also had them check my reservation and apply the DCC onboard credit offer since I'd paid with Disney Visa.

My brain is having a power surge & temporarily unavailable, so I can't remember-is there a list of second seating folks seeking table mates.

I don't remember seeing one for us second seating peeps.

I just realized that the meet & greet isn't scheduled until 12:30pm on the 2nd day of the cruise (1st sea day). If history repeats itself, that time slot is probably going to be when the Singles/Solos lunch is blocked. If there isn't interest in adding an additional meet & greet back at the "traditional" promenade lounge 3pm on the first day, how about some sort of informal gathering in the between-dinners/shows around 7:30pm in either Diversions or Outlook?

I am new to the Disboards this cruise and have finally figured out that I need to say on the thread specifically that I want to sign up to participate in the fish extender, only now I have missed the cutoff. Do you know if there is a way to see if anyone is still interested in starting a second fish extender group? I appreciate any info you may have. Thank you:)

I am going to have to put this to the group since we have just barely passes the cutoff.

Will one more cabin mess anyone up?

I'm a softie and it's just my opinion but this request is so close to the cutoff just passing it's not a problem for me - I'll go with majority but I hate to see someone left off so close to cutoff.

I've never participated in the FE until this cruise so I'm personally nervous about getting them all made and packed up and additions being added 2 weeks prior to trip will freak me out....but...since I also don't want anyone left out, maybe (and again just my opinion) since we are so close to the weekend (where people have time to read the boards) we say that the FE is closed OFFICIALLY after Sunday evening....that's then the drop dead date (or use whatever deadline we have for the Postcard/Recipe exchange).:confused3 (And then promise yourself not to ask a softie like me on Monday when someone else wants to join :laughing:)

What we've done in the past is say that anyone who joined after the cutoff date will be included since we don't want to leave anyone out IF the person giving has enough FE gifts. It will be up to the individual giving out the gifts.

I think I missed the change, is the 12:30 for the DIS meet or would that have been something they are doing on facebook ? I was thinking we were looking at a mid morning day after boarding meet, just trying to stay away from Canal Pilot talk if one is scheduled (sorry if I missed the discussion on this)

This is a GREAT suggestion!

I seemed to have missed the whole thing too? Can someone repost the meet and greet?other meet ups. Thanks.

It's fine by me it's only a day late and we were all newbies to this board once trying to figure it out.

I'm fine with one more- If 30+ is too much for some people maybe we could split the group?? But either way I am of the mind set that I would not want anyone left out, especially a newbie

I'm perfectly fine with another addition. It is so close to the cut off that I can't imagine anyone having a problem with it.

Adding one more cabin wouldn't mess me up.

Disclaimer: I have never participated in the FE exchange. Due to being out of town prior to our first DCL cruise in May, we opted not to participate in the FE exchange for that cruise.

Now for the rest of the story...a very late military rate was offered for the May cruise which allowed many families to hop on the cruise. Several wanted to join in on the FE exchange, so there ended up being two FE exchanges for that cruise. I'm definitely a rookie in this process. Just thought I'd share.

We are almost up to 100 pages on this roll call :cool1: We are going on a Carnival Cruise out of Port Canaveral on August 10th and will be spending a few days with our daughter who lives in the Orlando area. My daughter says we will be visiting Mickey's place for a day (I can't figure out who this Mickey is) :confused3

Looking forward to our cruise in September, this will be our 6th cruise and our 1st Disney Cruise. Flying to Los Angeles and since we live in the Houston area (Richmond, TX) a relative will pick us up in Galveston. :dance3:
