Panama Canal Eastbound Sept. 14, 2013--it'll be WONDER-ful

Well, we did it - booked the EBPC!! I've been looking at it for months but couldn't resist the VGT rates. This cruise is high up on my mom's wish list, so I'm bringing her for her 80th birthday (which is in August). It will be myself, Danae, DM Phyllis, DS Jonas (9), DS Carter (turned 6 twenty minutes ago)!!

I'm so excited!! I need to go back and read this whole thread so I can sign up for things, but I know I want to sign up for the FE.

I'm planning to fly to LA on the 12th and go to the MNSSHP, then somehow get to the port on Saturday from DL. Any suggestions? I don't want to rent a car as I am afraid to drive in LA!!

That's great!! Welcome!! We did the same a few days ago. We couldn't pass up this great deal! This has also been our dream cruise for years.

Kathy, we would like to sign up for the FE and post card/recipe list. Thank you so much for doing this.

I posted this on the general cruise board and did not get a response. Can anyone recommend a reliable transportation company we can use in LA and Galveston to get from airport to hotel and hotel to pier--and then the reverse? I don't want to use Disney's transportation because I want to be able to get to the port when I want to get there--within reason of my PAT, of course! Thanks.

I don't know about Galveston since I've never been there but in Los Angeles...Super Shuttle and Prime Time Shuttle seem to be reliable from what I read on tripadvisor. They can take you from the airport to your hotel (need to look at their list of hotels they serve on their website). I will be staying at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in San Pedro again as I have done with a previous Disney cruise. I found them to be a good hotel with free shuttle service to the cruise terminal. :goodvibes

A friend and I are considering this cruise. Looks like we're pretty sure we will do it. Both of our hubbys have work obligations that won't allow them to go, so we are taking each other. ;)

I really know nothing about LA. We would fly in the day before since it means flying halfway across the US. How far is the port from LA? What hotels are fairly close? Thanks for your help!

The port is ~20 miles from LAX but if can take a long time (~1hr) if there's heavy traffic

Mike,
How many staterooms will this be and who are in the rooms together and since you don't have an age by Larry and Tracy are they adults also? Or did you just want one FE for your whole group?

Can we be added to the roll call also please: Carolann & Gib. Not sure who/where the list is but we are interested in meeting up with other DISers for second seating dinner!

Hi all! I added a few more folks to our Facebook group today! Sorry I have been inactive for a couple weeks - end of school and a lot of folks traveling - we are out of town ourselves till Monday, but I finally had time to take a breath! Glad to see more activity on here! I will try to make sure all who wanted to join Facebook were accepted. Send me a message on Facebook if you still are not in and I can do that next week when I get home to my computer.

We will be joining you we just couldn't pass up the military deal! It was either this or the Members Cruise for more.

I pretty sure I got the answer on the main board but thought I would ask here as well, does anyone know for certain that Disney does not have transfers available for Hobby airport?

Also, does anyone know if they do a cruise pass for the Rainforest room and if they do what the approximate cost would be?

Thanks

I called DCL yesterday and they told me the transfers are for GW Bush only

This is not good news! I booked our return flight out of Hobby. Looks like I might have to cancel the Disney transportation. Has anyone figured out a reasonable shuttle service from the Port to Hobby?

Please let me know...

There will be 3 rooms, not sure which rooms #'s are yet but will get them to you as soon as i find out, it will be Chris, myself and Deanna in one, Jeremy and Brittany in a second and Larry and Tracy in a third.
Larry and Tracy are adults.

They do a cruise pass for the rainforest area - price varies by cruise length. You have to go to the spa and get them and they have a limited number.

pirate: I'm kind-of surprised to see the Pirate Party is on the Cartegena day. Is it normal to have it on a port day? :confused3 Somehow I thought it would be on an at sea day.

I was surprised to see this as well. We completed the last 8 day Magic cruise out of Galveston in May, and the Pirate Party was a sea day. We were going from Port Canaveral to Key West. I'm thinking that perhaps they do this the evening of being in Cartagena due to being in fairly calm waters. Just a guess.
