Another palo brunch question. I'm sailing out in a few weeks on a 3 night magic with a 19 year old and a 17 year old that turns 18 the next day on sea day with brunch. I had to make palo reservations without being able to add my soon to be 18 year old. I was told by reservations that there is a chance I could add her once onboard but it is possible there may not be availability. So now I'm left questioning should I even bother and just cancel the reservation. Has anyone been able to add just one more person to their party when the chances are slim?

Yes, the chances of adding another person once onboard is pretty high. DCL holds back a number of Palo reservations for booking onboard.

Just head for where the Palo dining changes are being handled once you board (it'll be noted in the Navigator where/when this is).

When we changed our Palo reservation from a 2 person reservation (just my husband & I) to a 3 person one (me, mother-in-law & sister-in-law), there was no problem doing this on embarkation day.

The cruise card will need to be changed as they turn 18 to have an A on it.

Upon boarding be sure to call Palo and tell them you would like to add the extra person to your reservation. The issue will be are you booked at a 2 top or 4 top. We had a reservation where we were the 2 of us were at a 4 top and the couple at the 2 top behind us were trying to add 1 so we offered a table trade and made it possible. This happened during brunch so no help prior.

Be sure to get to guest service on morning of to get KTTW card changed out to reflect adult.

Agree.

a while back we had a Palo ressie for 3 and needed to make it for 4. Called DCL and they said that there was NOT room. I told them the obvious ... we just needed to add the 4th person to our table (they don't have tables for 3). "Sorry, no room, I will have to move you to a later seating".:sad2: Us: OK. the Operator then cancelled our ressie and was very surprised :scared1: when a table opened up for 4 people at that time, so she rebooked us. :bounce:

Your situation is NOT the same, since you will probably be assigned to a table for 2. But do not dispair - hopefully they will let you book a table for 4 when you board the ship - and then you can add the kiddo the day after they turn 18. GOOD LUCK!!!

We went from 2 to 4 with no problems. Right after boarding I went to the location specified in the navigator and they were able to update the reservation. Seemed like no big deal.

It is "no big deal". Also been our experience. We've change our Palo reservation on embarkation day at least 4 times with no issues.
