Just wondering if you could only do brunch or dinner, which would you choose and why?

:goodvibes

Dinner. We've done brunch twice and dinner once and I enjoyed dinner more. I think it was because there was LESS to choose from, and I didn't feel like I was missing out on something. Also, to do Palo (or Remy) on formal/semi-formal night when you can dress up even more, makes it seem like a special night out.

That would be a difficult choice! Fortunately its one with no wrong answer. :)

I guess if forced to decide between the two, I'd go with brunch just because the opportunity to go there isn't as great since its only offered on sea days. You might want to read the review I did for FoodieTales on Palo brunch and dinner. You can find the link in my Sig below.

DH and I did both brunch and dinner (twice) on our cruise in September. If we had to choose one, it would be brunch. We enjoyed dinner, but didn't think it was head and shoulders above what you can get in the MDRs for dinner. Brunch, on the other hand, was something completely different than what you can get elsewhere on the ship. Tons of choices and everything was delicious. As many have said before me, the chicken Parmesan is not to be missed!

Dinner as I think it offers the more special experience.

First, I prefer meals where my food is brought to me and I don't have to go up and get it. Also, a plate that is being served from the kitchen always looks nicer than what I collect at a buffet. Those are important elements for me that the tone of the experience

Also, since it is a buffet during brunch you have less interaction with your server. We had a wonderful server for both of our meals and it was just nice to be taken care of.

Also, the fact that there were always people coming and going to and from the buffet made the restaurant less calm and a little more hectic.

Foodwise I think brunch has lots of seafood and since I am not that much of a seafood lover, it felt like a number of the special dishes were just not for me. I felt less "left out" when ordering from a menu.

Finally, while there are a few very special items on the brunch buffet and everything is very high quality, I found the dinner dishes to be more special in general. Some of brunch is kind of basic breakfast buffet food (just in a very very good quality and lovely presentation).

But in the end it is a tough choice and I am planning on doing both meals again on my next cruise! I would hate to have to chose only one!!

Is there a menu someplace that lists what is served at either dinner or brunch? I am going on a cruise in December on the Dream.

On the classics, dinner. On the new ships, brunch. IMO the brunch is better on the new ships as there is more buffet selections, but I have found the food from the kitchen better on the classics.

I did them both last week on the Magic and really loved them both but if I had to choose just 1 however it would be Dinner I loved how formal it was and the meal was simply amazing!

I plan on doing them both (a couple of times if possible) next time I'm on the Magic either way it is an incredible experience and your in for a real treat :)

If we could only do 1, we'd pick dinner! We love the Beef Tenderloin Palo (with both the red wine sauce and the gorgonzola sauce!) and it's our favorite food item the whole cruise! DH isn't big on desserts, but I love the Chocolate Souffle at Palo! It is heavenly!

We've done both dinner and brunch on both a 4 night and 7 night cruise. But Palo meals (both brunch and dinner) run very long and you are there for a long time. So we've felt that for 4 nights or less, it's just not worth it to do both. It takes up way too much time. So for 4 nights or less, we only do Dinner. But for 5 nights or longer, we do both Brunch and Dinner!

:goodvibes Thank you to everyone for the replies. Both sound amazing.

:thanks: for the link. What wonderful reviews. Everything looks so delicious.

Just did both on the fantasy, both were really good but I would opt for the brunch...

The selection is really good, brunch lets you try a lot of different foods and flavored, but you better like seafood.

Also for brunch you have the ocean view while you dine as compared to the darkness at night

If we could only choose 1, we would choose the brunch. Sooooo many options and just seems more relaxed than the dinner.

I also love this dinner selection. I'm shellfish allergic and not a sea food fan but I truly enjoyed the brunch. The chicken parm and grape pizza are both fantastic. You really can't go wrong with either at Palo.

Dinner. I find it's more relaxed and leisurely. However, we always do both so I'm never forced to make the decision!
