In one of the guides, it mentioned that Pal Mickey has been updated. Do you think it's worth it to get one?

Personally no but I suppose it depends on how much you or your kids like PM.When we got PM we took him on a couple trips and had great time with him, then we've sort have forgotten about him...poor Mickey. ::MickeyMo

Kids? I have no kids!! I AM the kid...the soon-to-be 30 year old kid!!! Ha ha ha!

I read that he now tells when lines are short at the major attractions, where characters will be, etc. I thought that might make him worth it. Also, when we do have kids, I would certainly give him to DD or DS!

You can get the older version of Pal Mickey for $13.99 plus $8.95 shipping (or $10.95 shipping for 2) from Character Premier Stores. The phone number is 954-846-7161. The older version has the traditional shorts and the newer one wears a tux, but for the price difference, who cares? The pixie dust in the air will automatically update Mickey if you have him turned on and out in front of you when you enter the front gates according to the saleslady I spoke to. I was told shipping would take 4 to 6 weeks, but I had mine in 12 days.

I bought these for my kids for our upcoming trip. No way would I spend $60 but $14 each I could do. Totally worth it!

We just bought ours at St. Augustine Outlet Mall for $13.99.....they had 8 left of the English version and about 50 of the Spanish version. We were going to buy one at the parks 2 weeks ago for $65....so glad we waited!

Ours did nothing but tell jokes. What a waste! Maybe he didn't get updated at the front gates???

RBL......Doesn't it play games? There's 3 different games on ours, plus he talks about parks and events, and of course, the jokes. Ruff, Ruff. :) It should update once we get to the park in 2 weeks...

As soon as we power ours up, it starts with the jokes, then it says, "if you would like to play a game, squeeze my left hand". I'm surprised yours doesn't do that. I'll check mine again when I get home and shoot you a response tomorrow.

We got the old version of PM for our trip too, got back last week. Knowing now what I didn't know then, I wouldn't of gotten it. My kids were excited about seeing everything for the first time at Disney nobody wanted to wait for PM to vibrate and then check out what he was saying. I don't remember him ever telling us about short lines or times of events though, but maybe we just didnt pay attention. Our bad.

Nothing but jokes - how do you access the games?

To access the games, press both of PM's hands. You can have Pal Mickey updated at the PM store on Mainstreet at MK. It is on the right shortly after you come in the park - the front looks like a movie theatre. We were there two weeks ago with a giggling and joke telling PM. Once we had him updated, he did alert us when there were short waits for rides, etc. Just push his belly when he vibrates and says gosh. :earboy2:

The "old" Pal Mickey can not be updated to be like the "new" HCOE Pal Mickey. That is why you can now buy him so cheap. He will still work in the parks, but has fewer features and can not provide any information about the latest attractions (LMA, Soarin', Everest coming up, etc.)

Serious Pal Mickey fans can vsit www.palmickey.net for the latest info plus Pal Mickey get-togethers. As for what the new one has that the original does not (other than a very slightly larger size and weight):

-25% of the content has been updated
- Additional character greetings, showtime reminders and attraction short wait tips
- New celebration theme park attraction and entertainment tips
- Interactive trivia questions replacing 50% of the jokes
- Increased volume of voice
- 3 additional games (now has 6)
- 7 sing-alongs
- Interacts with new glow medallions
- Removable tux jacket
- Carrying lanyard
- Rain poncho, pin trading, safari and tourist outfits will be available soon (Release date for clothing is now set for the holiday season)

I ley my mom carry my original Pal now and she still enjoys it, but likes when my new Pal sings. :cool1:
