I just went outside to check the mail and there was a package from my MIL. She just came back from her spring break trip to WDW and sent us her Pal Mickey! DH and I would have never bought him for ourselves, so this was really nice of her! Just wanted to share my magical moment with you!
:sunny:
What does everyone think about Pal Mickey? Does he add to your experience or is he annoying? I'm not crazy about lugging him around all day, but I am really excited to try him out! Only 20 more days! Woo Hoo!

What a nice gesture! I bought him for my 16 yr. old when he first came out. She loves it. I was so worried she leave him behind somewhere and he's still with us. In fact, I just asked her if he will be making our next trip in two weeks, and she said yes! This will be our third or fourth trip with him.

A hint--buy a neck strap similiar to those used to carry the 20 oz. pop bottles around and slide it around Mickey's neck. The clip really doesn't work well that came with him and I found this to be a good solution and offers "hands free" when need be.

Enjoy him!

Pal Mickey is great. It is a nice thing to carry around with you at the parks. When he shakes, put him up to your ears, or you will miss what he says as he's not very loud.

Thanks for the tips! The neck strap idea is great! I was thinking that he might be easier to hang on a lanyard around my neck when I first saw him. I didn't think that clip looked very sturdy.

I read that if you don't hear what he said the 1st time, he will repeat it up to 5 more times.

Wow, there sure are a lot of Pal Mickey threads going on right now.

Hanging Mickey around his neck????? :earseek: What will the little kids think, LOL!

I bought my Pal Mickey on our last trip in February, and I just love him! I think my DH was more excited about him than even I was. Sometimes he giggles and vibrates several times in a row, and when I was getting tired of listening to him, my DH insisted I do, LOL. Funny moment when we were entering Epcot through the International Gateway, I said to Pal Mickey, "I hope you don't get confused coming in this way", as I read on another thread that sometimes he can get confused going in the back entrance to Epcot. Well, my DH was standing behind me, and he thought I was talking to him, and couldn't figure out why on earth I thought HE would be confused. I had to explain to him that I was speaking to Mickey. He just shook his head.:teeth: Anyway, my pal will definitely be coming with us on our trip in three weeks, and again in July. I'm just worried that on the July trip I won't get to see him much, as there are thirteen of us going, and I'm afraid I may be forced to share him.:D

Pal Mickey will be going with us when we go on May 13 and again with me when I go with my girlfriends July 11-17. We just wouldn't go without him.

Here's an idea we got from a CM at Epcot on NYE that we're going to do next time we're there. Have Pal Mickey trade pins!

We got a kid's starter pin trading kit and I modified the lanyard to fit around Pal Mickey's neck. We'll put the starter pins on it and then Mickey can be a pin trader! I've collected pins and I wear them, but I don't trade (a little shy about it, plus I just buy what I like). We decided this would be a fun way to trade with CMs and little kids when we saw a CM at Epcot using her Mickey this way.

I have to have a Pal Mickey doll.
I hope they have them when I get there in December.
They have them on various internet sites, but the prices are significantly higher then in WDW.
I saw a used one (without any paperwork or box) sell on eBay for over $50.

They should improve Pal Mickey. Wouldn't it be cool if Mickey remembered where he had been, and could use that information to determine what he would say.
I think they should also allow the doll act as a memory of the trip, after the trip is over.
After they come out with more of these, in other characters, I hope they program them to interact with each other.
Suppose a family could pre order a set (with different characters), that could be set up to interact with each other.
Maybe they can make a set of these dolls also act as a walkie talkie system for a party of people.
If they did this, I would buy a set for everyone in the party.

Pal Mickey does remember where he's been. During a day's visit to a particular park, he does not repeat the same info about an attraction (like if you walk by it again) unless you switch him off and back on again. (Not counting that if you press his hand or tummy within 15 seconds he will repeat the same thing up to 6 times.)

They have been working on a Minnie and Goofy, but it is uncertain if or when they will market them. They might conclude that since it is "Mickey's park(s)" he should be the only "tour guide." The others could end up playing a different role perhaps?

Pal Mickey is NOT just for kids. Check out Pal Mickey's Grown-Up Pals Club if you are interested and also for news about Pal Mickey version 2. :teeth:

Thank you for the link to the Pal Mickey page.
I really enjoyed it.

Now I really have to have my Pal Mickey before I go to DisneyWorld, so I can make him some clothing.
I could make Mickey a shirt with a picture of me on it, since I wear shirts with pictures of him.

I wonder if Mickey has yellow feet, or if he just wears yellow shoes. In the old cartoon, before Mickey had shoes, his feet were not as round, so I think the yellow things are shoes.
But the old clips are black and white, so I can not tell if his feet are yellow.

There used to be a phone number one could call to order Walt Disney World park merchandise. I will have to see if I can find it.

Thank you

That's really cool. We have 2 free passes to try him out in the parks, but haven't gotten around to doing it yet.

At the moment he is $60 (tax included) at WDW and at World of Disney in Downtown Disney. There are many places online where he is priced even higher. I think it's best to buy him at WDW, but that's just my opinion.

The price will be going up again, but whether that happens before or after Version 2 is anyone's guess. If he continues to sell well, I'd guess there will be a price hike sometime this summer.

I have never heard anything so outrageous, and you call yourselves Disney lovers, lol. You can just as easily wrap it under his arms and tighten it, there is no need to hang the poor little guy. Geez, what is this world coming to??!!

True, but Pal Mickey's creators ARE working on some sort of lanyard to better carry him.

I don't have any problem with the belt clip. Its only hassle for me is when using the restroom (You get the picture - Where to put him?), so it's easier to have him clipped to a bag (but not hanging by the neck!).

My wife and I used the clip, either clipped to our camera bag or my pants, never had a problem, and I found it easy to slip him off or on, I just kept one hand near him at all times in case he tried to get away :)
