Pal Mickey (& Friends) Adventures & Fashions

I'm going to check that link - so far I only found a Barbie yachting cap on ebay - too small! But the pic of Captain Mickey on the cover of the cruise guidebook that I have is very close up so I can see all the details and I was also thinking that I'd have to make one - I was thinking I'd use that stiff felt that they sell for craft projects - what do you think? Unfortunately all the Rag Shop stores near us went out of business so I have to drive a ways to a good craft and fabric store - I'll probably go next week - I have to get red fabric for the jacket (and to use for the Chef Mickey top, too - I couldn't believe I had no red left over from anything that I could use so I couldn't start my Chef Mickey outfit last nite!!). And if I can find the right gold appliques for the hat I think I'll be able to use metallic gold 3-D fabric paint.

How do the Build-a-Bear outfits size up for Pal Mickey? Because there is a "naval" outfit that includes a hat - not exactly right but could be good to copy. The hat is sold as part of a set w/white pants & shirt and it's $12 -

Target used to sell a small Build-a-Bear set - sort of a stuff-your-own kit but it was liscensed Build-a-Bear brand - and more along the lines of Pal Mickey's size - and they did have about 10 or 12 outfits if I remember correctly but I'm not sure if they still sell it or if there was a captain's hat anyway. I couldn't find anything on the Target website but I'm going to check ebay.

You could either fuse interfacing to either a poplin or a broadcloth fabric, or use a fabric stiffener such as Stiffy.

Folks on this thread probably know about all these websites but just incase -

http://www.primateprojections.com/travel/magicaldisney/PalMickey/clothing.html

And this site seems to confirm that the smaller Target Build-a-Bear outfits will fit ok. Ebay didn't have any captain's hats but if anyone is looking for other things, there were about a dozen listings - search ebay for "target build-a-bear".

p.s. DH is ready to send me to a therapist now that I've become "obsessed" with dressing our Pal Mickey!!

Great idea - I forgot all about Stiffy - I haven't used it in years!

The Target Build-a-bear did fit fine. There weren't that many male outfits and there wasn't a captain's hat that I remember.

My DH thought I needed to have some men in white coats come & take me away in the beginning too. Now, he enjoys our time with Nicky as much as I do.

I've been trying to figure out the same thing. I did a search on teddy bear Navy outfits just to see what they had. The only cap I saw was made of fabric. Here's the link.

It's not the best looking hat, but it gave me an idea of how to make it: an oval for the top, the same shape oval for the bottom with a circle cut out that would fit the head, a band with a bill. Then to find a small anchor applique for the decoration. Does this make sense? I'd make sure to put elastic loops on each side to slip over Mickey's ears.

I also found this adorable Jack Sparrow bear! It's too cute! But it's also very expensive!

Oh aren't those cute. I'll have you know I have started sewing. I made a shirt for myself as a test. I'll be making Nicky some clothes soon. I'm hoping to make some special costumes before our June trip. He isn't getting anything new for our March trip. Ricky is coming home soon so that he can travel with my niece & nephew. Nicky & Ricky will need some matching outfits I think. :cloud9:

QM - thanks for the pics - so much fun!

on the neerdy end of things - what size do you shrink to in PhotoBucket so they don't take up the entire page. I had a toy - Morris - that went with us the WDW, Ireland and Howe Caverns - that might be cute to show one pic of.

I need to know what someone meant of the DCL website? Is there free patterns for pants and tops on the web somewhere?:surfweb: Thank you in advance if you can help me! I wonder if I could knit an outfit? To heck with the new grandchild on the way :rotfl2: - that's not till August! :lmao:

Sorry if I'm asking too many things at once - I can't get on-line as often as I should. :worship:

I mentioned the DCL website but only because I saw a picture of the "real" Captain Mickey and I was going to copy his outfit to make one for Pal Mickey to wear when we cruise in June!

This is a little off topic but I have a question for QM----

I just loved your pics-- what kind of camera do you have? I need a new camera for my upcoming trip!!!

dbelmo

Thanks

It's a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ8, and I absolutely love it! Here's a link to it so you can check it out.

Although it's still a point and shoot, it's extremely light (a must for me) and had a gadzillion settings on it, many of which I'm still learning how to use. But it's been a good camera - I've been happy with it. It never left my neck the whole time in WDW, unless someone else was using it, of course!

Hi all. I was not going to take my Pal Mickey on this May's trip as part of the trip will be for business. Then I said today - heck the Flower & Garden Festival is always great for photo ops, and the little guy does add scale to many photos. And he always brings a smile to people.

So anyone going to be there 5/16 to 5/21? Want to meet up?

We are going to be there June 6-14. Nicky came with us on our March trip but my girls are a little jealous of him (they are 19 & 22) so since he is coming with us in June & will travel to the parks with us, he stayed in the room every day.

Nicky will be coming on our camping trips this summer. I'll be getting lots of pictures of him then. My team are putting together a division wide family & friends camping trip. He will have a lot of fun at that.

I'm looking forward to your pictures.

DisGal,

We'll be in Disneyland the end of June. And although he won't "work" there, Mick will be joining us. At least he'll be able to tell jokes and keep the kids entertained!

I'll make sure to take photos of him where we travel this summer, too.

Have fun at Disney World!!!

P.S. I haven't forgotten about your Fairy Godmother photo!

I have started sewing and hope to make some clothes for Nicky before our trip. Not sure I'll be able to but I'm going to try. I can't wait to see more pictures. I've been lonely for pictures of Mickey & his friends with all their adventures & fashions!

awwww - so sorry we won't be in the World at the same time.

I sure wish I was going then.

You are so right about our PMs. I got more great photos with Chucky and more time with the characters when I had him dressed in his pumpkin for Halloween. Here is just one of the pictures of him and I with Remi. I think between the photo pass guy and my friend we have about twenty pics of him holding Chucky and then trying to take me off somewhere during the shoot. I will remember that forever.

Hello all you Pal Mickey Lovers. I have a quick question. I am working my way backward through this thread (thank you guiltymom since your trippie - or maybe pre-trippie directed me here). Anyway, I am really excited to start outfitting my Pal Mickey and was wondering if any adventures are welcome? We are going to SD to walk on the Crazy Horse Mountain in June and I was thinking Pal Mick could take the trip with us for fun (and secretly so I could make him outfits).

My sister and I used to do something similar to this. We had a pre-kid habit of meeting in Vegas since it was half way between Idaho and Oklahoma (even if it isn't we choose to believe it is). We had a bear we won on our first girls trip and we named him Vegas Bear and would document his adventures in much the same way y'all do with your Pal Mickey's. Very cool idea.
