ok, we had professional painters for the first time in our lives. Now DH is worrying that we overpaid.

Powder room - removed wallpaper, painted faux finish on walls, painted ceiling and trim

Living room - different colors on ceiling, walls and trim

Family room - " " "

Foyer, walls and trim going up the stairs and hallway to kitchen (not ceiling)

Rehung picture and mirror

$2200 total

So, what do you think?

As a general rule at least for muraling, I charge $14 a foot.

For everything that you had done, prep time, wall paper removal, ceilings re done, etc. You paid about right.

Sounds pretty reasonable to me. They did some fancy work (faux finishes) and a lot of different colors of trim vs. walls vs. ceilings, which is more tedious and labor-intensive because it requires cutitng in at the corners and seams.

I would say a fair rate...the time/ labor of removing the wallpaer and then the faux finish most likely added to the cost. Generally around here for a basic paint job per standard room ( not vaulted or multicolor etc) is about $375 plus materials...and like I said, that is for basic. You had a few more custom things done. Also if it is including high quality paint in the price and all prep work/ great clean up, lableing cans for which rooms etc for touch ups...I think it is in line price -wise. Mainly, do you like it and would you reccomend them? I take all these things into consideration.

Sounds good to me. I paid a little less than $6000 this Summer for 5 rooms, one tray ceiling, 1 powder room, one faux finish beneath the dining room chair rail, one two story foyer and one upstairs hall. Painting is pricey!

Erin :)

Yes, it included Benjamin Moore Paint, they did a good job and cleaned up.

Thanks for your comments; I think we did good!! :)

It's a really good deal, then, especially if they used Benjamin Moore paint (it's our professional painter's choice too :thumbsup2 ). Ben Moore paint is pretty pricey. :)
