On an earlier thread I wrote about getting a Loews First Gold upgrade for my December visit to the HRH. Well I did call them and they were willing to upgrade me because I was checking in 2 days before the blackout period (even though I didn't see December dates in the website).

My original reservation was for a poolview which came out to 213.00 a night. I paid the deposit for the first night back in August. When I called last week and asked for the upgrade they told me my reservation was for a garden-view at the rate of 175.20 with my rate changing 242.10 for my last two nights. Can't understand how that happened.

I just asked for my upgrade and left it like that. Today I checked my credit card account and they refunded my original deposit of 213.00 and they recharged my credit card at a rate of 239.00.
I called 1-800-BE A STAR but they couldn't help me. They told me to call the accounting department. They did verify my reservation as a deluxe with a 175.20/242.10 charge.

Does anyone know what happened? Should I have paid extra for the upgrade? Shouldn't the rate be the same? I have never received any upgrades with Loews so I am confused. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you account for the taxes and other charges that are added to the booking rate? Our orig. club room price this year was $255 per night but we ended up actually paying $280+ at RPR when taxes, etc. were added in. Last year Loew's upgrade to club there was only $35. BE-A-STAR wouldn't be able to help you with the Loew's details as they are not really connected. Hopefully you have names/dates of who you originally made the ressie with? I learned that you, yourself, are the only ones that keep good details of the ressie, and having names/dates seems to make a problem be corrected quicker.

Loews emailed me back and told me that an upgrade from garden to poolview is free but an upgrade from poolview to deluxe is $35.00. Is this correct. I thought a suite was $35 extra.
Now I am really confused.

I only wanted an upgrade. Now look what mess I got into.
