we leave in about a week for the Cities of Knights & Lights :goodvibes

Any packing tips from anyone who has visited London or Paris this time of year??
I just bought a light weight rain coat that I can stuff in my bag. Umbrella too?

I'm planing on black trousers with knit tops and sweaters.

Two pairs of comfortable shoes for walking.

What else beyond these basics? :confused3

My DD20 is studying in London this semester and she was surprised that it was warmer than she expected. Some of her pictures this past week she is wearing T-shirts and leggings, shorts, and jeans! But she also seems to be wearing jackets too. She did say she only has had one day of rain since she arrived last Thursday!

When we went on this tour last May it was cooler than I expected! So, I guess the best thing is layers. The rain coat is a great idea, but you will want the sweaters option, too. (Our group dressed up a little bit for our farewell dinner, but that is a personal choice!)

Have a wonderful time and try to have a real English afternoon tea during on your own time! We also loved Kensington Palace and Hyde Park on our own!

This year has had odd weather pretty much everywhere, so it's hard to say for sure. But when I did this trip in early September two years ago, the weather was very changeable, depending on whether the sun was out or not. Sun not out, put sweater on. Sun back out, take it off. Rinse and repeat all day long. :) It was definitely not shorts weather, I wore yoga pants or jeans the whole trip. I had a very light rain jacket I carried with me some days, but it didn't rain hardly at all. The only time I used my umbrella was when I had a bit of a walk across London Bridge on some OYO time. That was the only day I remember it actually raining hard, and it only lasted for an hour or so. If you have a small umbrella, it couldn't hurt to take it. Evenings did have a nip to the air, too. It was definitely jacket weather at night.

Even though it was not at all warm outside, it was VERY VERY hot & humid inside Versailles, so be sure & wear something very light under your sweater so you can take the sweater off while inside. They don't seem to believe in A/C.

Enjoy your ABD! It's a fabulous trip!

We just returned from our trip. The Landmark Hotel provided us with umbrellas, and our ABD guides gave us some rain ponchos. I packed a light trench coat. Check weather.com for the forecast. You will LOVE your trip! Have fun!

A raincoat, tiny umbrella which will fit in your purse, and GoreTex shoes work great. It might be handy to include lightweight gloves or glove liners, just in case.

If you bring all black clothing, especially for Paris, you'll fit right in, ;) Bring a scarf or two for color.
