Wow I leave in 3 days so trying to get packed my first weigh in was 23 kg 2 one was 21kg and now finale one was 19kg but I just can't get it any lower

We have a 20kg limit but I want to hit about 15kg so I have room to bring things back

So anyone got any tips

when i first started to pack i had enough clothes for 14 days and nights.
but now i have reduced it by half, we have a launderette at our hotel so on the evenings me and dh will take it in turns to take the clothes to be washed, also we are planning on buying some clothes out there.
i put all my clothes on the bed and tried to match up different outfits using as few items as possible

i have packed
7 lots of underwear, 5 pairs crop trousers, 7 tops/vest tops, 2 short cardigans, 1 pair of linen trousers. 1 dress for the evenings, 2 sets of swimwear and 2 pairs of shoes, plus toiletries and a towel

Are you taking clothes for each day? I just take about 5 or 6 sets over the time we are there and do laudry twice. It is warm now so you shouldn't need much. I wear jeans on the plane and whatever cardi/light jacket and whichever shoes are heaviest. Everything else goes in the hold luggage. What else do you have in there aside from shoes and toiletries? Toiletries and sunscreen, etc weigh the most in my bag, but I don't take full bottles and leave them behind when I come back.

I know its naff but i always try and wear any heavy items (or transfer into handluggage if its an item that can) that usually gets me through with room to spare!!! I even decanted my aftershave into a plastic bottle one year as was smaller and lighter!

good luck!!!

I try to put my shoes (I bring alot of shoes bad feet) in a carry on bag to help with the weight and I wear my sneakers and have my husband wear his too because they seem to have a lot of weight. Try taking two carryons and then if you bring reading material put them in a large pocketbook type of bag. This will help with the weight. Of course taking less does too but sometimes we just need it all.

i have about

Nothing wrong with being a fussy dresser - we all have our likes and dislikes. :goodvibes I can see your reason for shoes, but with what you have listed I don't think that will make much difference.

Do you need the hairdryer? Where are you staying? They have hairdryers at most, if not all, of the hotels. Also, I have to wear a belt as otherwise my jeans/shorts fall down :scared1:, but I am just taking one black one to wear with everything and the same for my daughter.

Another thing I wonder if you need to take is a towel. You didn't say what you wanted your own one for so I don't want to discredit your reason for it but you could cut back a bit with that if you think you can get by with the hotel ones.

Swim shorts/bathing suits, I just take 2 for DD and one for me. They dry out overnight in the bathroom.

Jeans: I LOVE my jeans, but I wear one pair on the plane and pack a thin pair in the luggage. I will wear jeans 2 or 3 times if need be without putting them in the wash, especially if it is just a few hours in the evening.

I just finished packing our cases for the 2 of us and they weigh 15 kg and 9 kg. Hand luggage is 2.5 kg and 4 kg (includes laptop and charger weight).

I hope you don't think I am picking at your list, but there may be some things you can take out. The little bits add up. Let us know how you get on.

we are staying on site at the CSR i have already cut the hair dryer as i have now found out we have one in the room

reason im taking a towel is becasue i will be going swimming a fair bit and wasnt sure how oftern or how big the towels you get on site i also bit of a bath freak and like to bath/shower twice a day not a ocd thing just *** i work in the leisure and hotel business it makes me bit of a clean freak lol

think i will take out a couple of t shirts and a the shoes guess i can wear white pumps with anything lol

god i sound like a girl:cool1:

DH and I used to over pack but now we just take what we really need. I like the brand of shower gel i use here so i just get smaller bottles of that or decant if needed. Shampoo the hotels provide is nice and will be refreshed every day as well as that you get soap and a facial soap again both nice.

Towels I agree we do take one each of those we just like to have our own for going to the pool/ water parks.

T shirts DH has 7 and will wash as he needs to and the laundrettes at the resorts have dispensers for the washing powder etc and are cheap and most are located next to the pools so you can have a dip while the machine is doing its thing.

DH will have one pair of jeans which he will travel in and has light linen trousers for night (he hates to be hot and sweaty in jeans). The jeans never went on until we were heading home. I agree with 2tiggies on the belts take one that interchanges with every thing.

I have a small travel hair dryer (it folds in half and is very light weight) as it is slightly more powerful than the ones in the room but if you have short hair they are great.

Again swim shorts for DH will take two pairs of those.

One of the things we do is to pack one chnage of clothes in our hand luggage just in case there is a luggage problem (never have had one but...)

My auntie goes to either Florida/Vegas/Arizona at least 3 times a year, and she just goes to Primark and gets 14 pairs of knickers, 14 plain vest tops and 14 pairs of socks everytime. She washes them on the last day and puts them in a charity collection box.
This means she gets new clothes every day & an empty suitcase to bring back! :thumbsup2
This sounded good to me, so I bought my socks and undies from Primark on Saturday (Socks are 6 pairs for £1!) and will only be taking 4 t-shirts with me as I will buy a lot of new ones from Universal/Disney. The rest of the room in my case will almost certainly then be free for the eventual 4 foot Piglet doll that my missus wants, in order to match the four foot Eeyore we bought there last time! :rotfl:

I also like to bath and shower more than once a day. I make a request for extra towels and we have heaps of them brought to our room every day. Still, some people prefer their own. Just a thought.

Dollyrar, I have done similar. Bought packs of cheap socks and knickers for DD for £1 or 2. The night we stay at the airport hotel I always take old clothes for us to sleep in and bin them the next day. :scared1: I don't want to know what housekeeping must think if the black bag bursts open. :rolleyes1

Seriously you wont need that many clothes. There is a launderette at disney hotels, you can easily do a wash once or twice.

Don't take a towel, ask housekeeping for more if you need them.

We would find it too hot for jeans in sept - maybe one pair.

If you are a shopper go as light as you can. 20kg is not alot.

This is our first trip on 23kg, used to the old 2x 23kg.

This year i've told DH he is having 4 outfits (t shirt/shorts) and that is it! I don't mind washing - 30 mins to wash and 30 mins to dry - why can't our washers here be like that.

YES!!!! Especially with all the pre-trip washing that needs to be done and the total absence of sun - or even dry weather! I suppose this is probably not the smartest thing to do, but I put my washing into the resort machines and then head out to the pool while it is busy. I go back to pop it into the dryer, swim some more and then collect it when we are ready to go back to the room.

I used the time to look around the resort gift shop.

Just made sure I was back in time to retrieve our washing before the 30 mins up as the laundry was busy at all star movies late at night each time I went.

Leave some of the jeans, I'm out here right now and it is hot, hot, hot and more importantly it's very humid - 1 pair, maybe just in case it turns cool one evening but really, if it stays how it is you'll just melt with anything on your legs right now because it's sooo sticky!

Another thing we do is we take our shampoo shower gel etc half empty that way we don't feel bad at the end of the trip to leave the dregs behind.

I mean this is the nicest way :goodvibes- your packing list has cracked me up! 4 belts!!!! :rotfl2: I would love to have the will to bother with a belt after a long day in the parks, or the waistline to get one on after 3 days of eating there!!!!

Seriously though, you mention a gym kit - I do that every other day on holiday as well, but the only special clothes I take is a sports bra (you may not need that . . .); i just wear the shorts and strappy top that I have worn in the park the day before to do the workout in; scabby, yes, but I figure they will be sweaty after 5 mins anyway!! You may be able to save an ounce or two there!

Have fun packing . . . I'm doing mine at the weekend and am dreading it!! Worst part of a trip!!

i have about
15 tops
:scared1: Try 5-6.

4 shorts for when we go to the parks
:scared1: I'd take 2-3.

3 jeans for the night time
I only ever take one pair. And I wear them on the plane.

3 swim shorts
1 pair woul,d be fine?

1 gym kit
What does this entail? Can't you use pre-worn t-shirts/shorts before they get washed?

2 shirts for the night time
Included in the 5-6 tops!

2 pairs of flip flops
Why? 1 pair max.

1 shoes for the night time
2 paris pumps
Seriously, you need 5 pairs of shoes? I wear 1 pair on the plane and pack one pair of flip-flops.

Ask for more at the hotel.

hair dryer
Supplied even at the worst of US hotels.

Buy it all there.

You don't need this much.

snookle and mask
Will you use it?

will be wearing a pair of shorts (hate wearing jeans on planes) t shirt and trainers and jacket on the plane

yeah i am a bit fussy dresser lol :rotfl:

It's just SO much stuff! I would take 5-6 tops, 2-3 bottoms, 1 pair flip flops and wear jeans/tshirt/jacket/pumps on the plane. Just wash half way through. Like you said, you hope to bring some stuff back, so plan on wearing what you buy!

I know I've been harsh but you'd be better off packing less, not worrying about how much you buy and picking up some new bits and pieces to wear whilst you're out there :)

Good advice. :thumbsup2 Honestly, the cost of some washing powder and coins for a load to wash and dry is a fraction of the cost of excess baggage.

How did you get on with the bags? I hope you have it all sorted now. Have a great trip and happy shopping! :cool1:
