Packing lunch

I try to eat my packed lunch early (11:00 AMish) and don't recall ever seeing more than a handful of other guests in most QS places. Often I'm the only person in the place. I'm a rope dropper and, with a very early breakfast, am usually ready for lunch early. I do purchase a beverage or side.

Generally the CMs have no problem with guests eating their packed lunches in the QS restaurants, as long as the restaurant isn't busy and there are plenty of empty seats for the paying customers. I have to emphasize this so that no one thinks that I'm saying it's okay to do anytime. If it's so crowded that seats are at a premium, the CMs will probably be on patrol and won't let anyone hold a table and will make parties wait until they have their food before they sit down. Except at the busiest times of the year, there are usually enough empty tables that it isn't a problem.

That's not correct. We have had plenty of times over our 2015-2016 AP year where the QS restaurants were packed and we never once got hassled by a CM. In fact, in one of them a CM came over (and could clearly see we brought out own food) and was making jokes with our kids. We've packed our food for 95% of our WDW days since 2003 and have never been asked to leave, or even questioned.

And let's return to the OP's question and not get into a debate about if you can or cannot eat at a quick service place is you have not bought food there and what time of year it was. The OP already said he/she did not intend on sitting at a quick service place so let's offer up other suggestions.

When we were there last week, plenty of folks used Tomorrowland Terrace just for this purpose.
