NO CLUE! To be real honest, Lisa had to help me. I fought with it for hours. I hope she'll come along and speak up. I think I'll ask her to post the appropriate "code" and sticky it in the Big Give area so we'll have it anytime someone needs it.

I'll do that ASAP.

Always looks better on a real person vs the floor or a hanger. It is a bit big on Dallas since it wasn't for him.

I think I posted this a while back, but don't remember now. I made one right before we went to Disneyland, this one is bigger and on a person!

Now off to read how to get all these things into photobucket!

mickeyauto1.jpg

AWESOME!! I especially love the Mickey Mouse one, that's really cool. I love the script on it.

Okay, I know a lot of you have children, I've seen the pics! ;) Anyway, how do you all have the TIME to sew and scrapbook and everything else?

Please, please, please fill me in on the secret!!!

Drugs? Coffee? No sleep? All of the above? You are all really rich with nannies? :lmao:

LOL, you wouldn't believe me if i told ya but this is how my days have been for the past 3wks:

Up between 4-6am depending on how much I have to do that day.
Sew until my youngest wakes up. Sit and chat w/her to see if she's actually ready to get up or if she wants to lay in my bed and cuddle. If she's ready to get up she then wakes up my oldest. They usually want to get in my bed so they lay in our room for about 30 minutes and I go back to sewing until I hear "We're hungry". I then take breakfast orders which is usually a veggie omelet or something that requires cooking. I'll toss in a load of clothes and do what ever the "chore of the day" is.

They get cleaned up and dressed and start playing, watching tv or movies and I go back to sewing after I put the laundry in the dryer. Before you know it it's snack time so I make them a yogurt smoothie and go back to work. Then it's lunch time. I get their food ready and go back to sewing. They continue playing, I continue sewing. It's now time for a second snack so my oldest will usually get fruit for the two of them or I'll make them popcorn or artichokes, depending on what they want and I go back to sewing. They finish their snack while I'm working and the next thing I know it's 4:00 so it's time to start dinner. Get dinner made, everyone eats, clean the kitchen (if DH isn't home) and go back to sewing until 7pm. If DH still isn't home then the girls get their bath. I try to get another hour of sewing in after bathtime. After that I turn off the machines and head to my room to sit w/the girls while they watch the Goodnight show and I check email and orders. Bedtime for the girls and I continue w/email, orders, and chat boards that I'm on. Once the girls are asleep I go back to sewing for about an hour then I go and watch the shows I've dvr'd that day/evening and continue w/email, etc. DH takes the laundry out of the dryer and puts everything away. By then it's about 2am and I'm ready to pass out so I get a couple hours sleep and start all over again the next day. Anytime DH is home then he takes care of everything and I don't have to leave my machines unless I'm hungry or need a potty break. I try not to work on the weekends but sometimes it can't be avoided. But in a nutshell that's a typical day around here.

Lisa,
I think yor a doll, and adore zoe. I truly hope you don't take offence to this, but some of us just can't give in any way. I am a Stay at home mom of 4...2 with one or another form of special needs. One with a ton of special needs. We are a family of 6 living on one income (my husbands). His income is too large for any extra assistance, but too little to live comfortabally. For me to even donate one small thing to each give would kill us. Shipping on items is at least $5. I do feel bad that I can't participate with the big give, and hate to hear everyone raving about it cause it does make me feel bad. I am a big giver here in my home town. I always give away my girls toys, and clothes to those in need and places that I feel need tooys. I don't want you to think im attacking you, just wanted you to know that some of us would really love to help but can't. I know im not alone, I can't be. Even with the price of gas...my oldest has at least 2 appointments a week to attend. I hope you understand my situation, and understand that I am not mad...just want to be heard that I too have a heart, even if I don't take part of the big give.

SMOOCHES :flower3:

I understand how you feel Michelle. I'd like to participate but I've been really busy and would hate to commit and then not be able to follow through. I don't think LisaZoe meant any harm though, I think there is just a general excitement and when you're excited about something it's hard to not talk about it. I know I'm still a newbie here but I think everyone can appreciate that not everyone can participate but we all agree with the cause.

Disboutiquer Meet Girls....

I've been on the phone with people from WDW Custom events- sounds like there are some pretty cool things we can do! But 1st- I need to know how many people you would bring to a special event if we did it in the evening- say a dinner buffet kinda thing at United Kingdom (outside on that platform just below the restaurant) during Illuminations?? Please copy the list below as you answer. FAMILIES are welcome.... if you don;t want to bring the kids.... that's ok too!!

karebear1 (Karen)- 2

Sorry, we are OUT for buffets too risky with our food allergies. But I know you guys will have a blast! :goodvibes

well, with that being said, you can count me in to send 4 disney theme coloring pages to each family from here on out. Complete with stickers, magical wishes and LOVE     . Ive never looked at it like that, but I know my kids just enjoy gettin mail (no matter how big or small) Thanks for cheering me up. :thumbsup2

I think that sounds great! It seems to be that the recipients are just moved by the sheer number of people who are excited with them for their trip!

What a sweet thing to do! Those kids will LOVE getting that stuff in the mail- good thinking!

So now that the kids (and a jetlagged DH) are passed out from a long week at daycamp, and a trip to the Disney Store I have a few pics to post, and the time to do it  So here's a pic of me grinning like a fool at IASW!

P3090078-1.jpg

These are shorts that I made DD (her name is Niamh, pronounced "Nee-uv") for her ballet recital day:

DSC_0412-1-1.jpg

These are the same shorts but with a shirred peasant top that I bought for her three summers ago at H & M!

DSC_0192-1.jpg

I made this for DS (his name is Kieran) for the last day of school. His school is named after a Canadian Astronaut, hence the space theme:

016-1.jpg

And finally the first thing I've made with my ruffler, with fabric that I bought on clearance:

017-1.jpg

Oh, and Pirate shorts for Kieran to go with Niamh's twirl skirt:

037-1.jpg

I'm going to attempt a shirred sundress this week when the kids are at daycamp, and try to convince DH that I HAVE to go to WDW on my own in February:lmao:

Tonight I'm making hairbows for a birthday party tomorrow, and watch "What Not To Wear"

Bonne nuit les filles!

Stephanie

I finished JoJo last night! This one is slightly different and more girly then one I did a long time ago for Dallas. I am going to do matching pants for it too.

th_jojo1.jpg
th_jojo.jpg

Cute JoJo!!! You couldn't get Dallas to model this one for us? LOL

I am so upset that I waited so long to do my futon covers...they were so easy to do and in less than two hours the furniture look brand new:cool1: I chose a cheap fabric as I did not wanted to mess up expensive one, but now that I know I can do it I will go order a nice fabric:cool1:

all together I spent
2.00 yard 100"wide cotton for 10 yrs = 20.00
1.00 for the thread

so $21.00 (I used the zipper from the old covers)

th_2008_07110003.jpg
th_2008_07110016.jpg
th_2008_07110007.jpg
th_2008_07110014.jpg

I think you're a genius for getting all those done for $21!!!!!! That dog is way too cute!

I made Hope some at seven months. I was aiming for capri kinda length (with the contrasting cuff) but when I measured, it was virtually at the crotch level so I ended up with them a bit longer. I used the normal seam allowances and just ended up with more elastic and they look OK (though I use cloth nappies so need a bigger bum than average!!)

th_Picture004-1.jpg

Now I look again they seem a bit on the wide side!!

Cute outfit, what pattern did you use for the top?

Well they are actually disers that met on the original thread and they decided to combine forces..
And I think that most people do occasionally post, life sometimes gets in the way of the dis. especially in the busy summer time and school starting. I think a lot of people post for a while then are absent due to life and vacations etc.. but everyone comes in and lurks or checks in occasionally. I am guilty of that..
Lori

I do lurk & check in occasionally! I just can't keep up with you guys anymore!

That was my impression, too. I saw their group as a small off-shoot of this one. I think it's great when people share interests and find a way to grow from there.

As for posting, there are a lot of people who just don't have time to come regularly. I try to pop in at least every couple of days but it's hard to keep up. I do much more "lurking" than posting as a result. I think we all understand "life happens" and people will always be welcome to come back when they can. :goodvibes Now that we're doing the Big Gives, I think it's definitely worth encouraging people to stay involved at whatever level they can. Even if people can't keep up with this thread, I really hope everyone who posts or lurks here from time to time will consider participating in future Big Gives. I honestly have to say it's been such an amazing inspiration to me and I hope others will feel the same so we can continue to Give with the same enthusiasm.

Life does happen, and it happens much faster than it used to!!!!

You DO have to go to WDW in February! I love What Not to Wear too. I DVR it so I can skip the commercials. Hmm, it should be ready to zip through by now.

Oh! And the clothes are cute too! I love those clearance bargins; you did great with your ruffler foot. That twirl skirt is to die for! And you are beautiful too, but I knew you would be, being a fellow Stephanie and all...:)

:rotfl: Not quite big enough for him! He did ask me this morning when I put on the MM shirt if anyone would see him! I had to assure him that it was a boys shirt and after that he wanted to wear his own!

I had a HUGE multiquote going and my 17 month old came along and uplugged the computer while I was up getting a drink. :scared1: So here is what I can remember lol.

Thank you all for the compliments. I sent it on today without eyelashes ... it will probably bother me for a week that I did but I really had to get it in the mail lol.

I adore the sponge bob and mickey shirts and the jo jo too! So sweet and yes cuter modeled but adorable on the hanger too!

mrsmiller! I am so impressed by you! Your futons look GREAT!

I'm right there with you. I need to l;imit how many outfits I volunteer for. I was thinking at one time of sending some simple "tink" gifts: stickers, glow necklaces, etc.

Awww thanks! You know what's funny? I never had any other girls named Stephanie in school, until college! I took a Psychology of Women class and there were 6 Stephanies in that class! But after that I've hardly met any adult Stephanies! Oh, and I HATE being called Stephie, ugh!

I almost never come over to this thread any longer. It is a real shame because this thread is where I learned how to sew. I honestly do not feel very welcome over here any longer. There were several individuals that were extremly nasty to me. It even went so far as someone accused me of child p0rn to the mods. It was ugly and all because I shared a different opinion.

I would have loved to partcipate in the Big Gives but I was so turned off by the events that took place here I did not. I think sometimes people forget this is a public forum open to anyone and should not be "run" by a few select people.

That being said please let me know when the next Big Give comes around. I would love to send something for a child. Sewing has brought great joy to my girls and I would love to share this with another family. I also really would like my daughter to partcipate in doing a good dead for another child.

You know, I like the idea of sending simple things like stickers and crayons too. I'm not as creative, and overwhelmed with life at times, but would love to be able to send small impulsive things too. Is the Big Give open to these simpler things? I was even thinking a simple postcard from our area with well wishes and a book about local stuff might by nice for some????

All I can say is :grouphug:

I'll do that ASAP.

I think that's a nice idea! I think we'll add some of those things for the next list - but in the mean time - please feel free to shower the GoofyDoo family with pixie dust as well! Please check the info on the thread and feel free to send your wishes for a magical trip!

... I broke my sewing machine. :sad1: I finally found the nerve (and the time) to try to make a storybook skirt for my DD - sat down and figured out the ruffler (thank you CarlaC for the free e-book!) - got my fabric cut - sat down at the machine and thought "Hmmm, I should change my needle, it's been a while." The needle was stuck in there, and when I finally grabbed some pliers to pull it out, the entire assembly fell off and I can't get it back on. :sad1: I know it's not a tragedy in the grand scheme of life, but I really wanted to sew tonight. And I'm supposed to sew with my MIL tomorrow.

Now I have to get to the curtains
Linnette

btw Crystal you got my package?

Linnette, these look great! How are you feeling lately?

I got a package in the mail today from my sister for my birthday; Megan helped me open it. The contents:

a $35 gift certificate to JoAnns
a fancy dancy seam ripper
a crease marker
a ring to hold on my bobbins

Pretty cool!
That is so sweet! So, how old are you going to be??? ;)

I think your shirts look great!

I think everyone should wear a custom! If there are 7 of you, each could wear a different Dwarf and go to the MK looking for Snow White
That would be so funny!
