Seeing your scrapbook pages makes me wish I knew how to digitally scrapbook. I am still a paper girl. And as for Photoshop, I don't have a clue as to how to use it. Even worse is I have a great DSLR and barely know how to use that! I really just got it so that it didn't take so long to take a picture since with my old digital camera I would press the shutter and my kids would move by the time my camera took the picture :rotfl2: ! Most of you ladies (and gentleman) are way ahead of me technologically speaking. I was barely able to change my ticker this morning and I still haven't figured out how to add my pictures to photobucket! One of these days maybe I'll catch up!

You'd better figure it out because we want to see Lilly!

I plan to close the GoofyDoo project this evening. I am hoping that we will have someone come forward to do the family tshirts.

Once the GoofyDoo project is closed, I will open the next project. I wanted to make sure that this family was taken care of (especially since there was such a short turn around time) before we began the next project. I anticipate opening the next give before the weekend ends. I will post an announcement with a link here when I do. Thanks for being eager to help!

I think a little extra is great! An extra tshirt or the like is a great idea. I DO think that we would like to make each give somewhat equal just so that we don't have a problem with families feeling slighted. An extra shirt isn't going to upset the balance, I don't think. Thanks for asking!

What did you need for the shirts again?

Did you tell him it was a once in a lifetime chance to meet JORD? :lmao:
Yeah that didn't work. He rolled his eyes so far back in his head when I told him who Jord is.

I am so upset that I waited so long to do my futon covers...they were so easy to do and in less than two hours the furniture look brand new:cool1: I chose a cheap fabric as I did not wanted to mess up expensive one, but now that I know I can do it I will go order a nice fabric:cool1:

all together I spent
2.00 yard 100"wide cotton for 10 yrs = 20.00
1.00 for the thread

so $21.00 (I used the zipper from the old covers)

Now I have to get to the curtains;)

btw Crystal you got my package?
Those are pretty. Is that a Beagle I spy on your sofa? He/She is so cute.

I did get your package I was going to send you a letter thanking you. I felt that your kindness deserved a hand written thank you. Jenna loved all of the fabric and patterns that you sent.

I got a package in the mail today from my sister for my birthday; Megan helped me open it. The contents:

a $35 gift certificate to JoAnns
a fancy dancy seam ripper
a crease marker
a ring to hold on my bobbins

Pretty cool!:cool1:
Cool presents. HAPPY BIRTHDAY also!!!!!!!

I plan on asking for sewing stuff for my birthday and for christmas.

What did you need for the shirts again?

I had hoped that we could give the family tshirts (maybe matching, maybe not). My initial thought was that they could wear them all the same day, but who knows. As much as anything, it is an opportunity to give something to the mom and dad, and to the two older children that aren't interested in wearing customs. There is a DISign that is posted on the board that can be printed out onto a transfer sheet and ironed on to a tshirt. SO, basically, all that someone needs to do is get the shirts, print the transfer and iron on the design.

If you would like to get to the thread to take a look at the list, you can click the Big Give logo in my siggy.

That was my impression, too. I saw their group as a small off-shoot of this one. I think it's great when people share interests and find a way to grow from there.

As for posting, there are a lot of people who just don't have time to come regularly. I try to pop in at least every couple of days but it's hard to keep up. I do much more "lurking" than posting as a result. I think we all understand "life happens" and people will always be welcome to come back when they can. :goodvibes Now that we're doing the Big Gives, I think it's definitely worth encouraging people to stay involved at whatever level they can. Even if people can't keep up with this thread, I really hope everyone who posts or lurks here from time to time will consider participating in future Big Gives. I honestly have to say it's been such an amazing inspiration to me and I hope others will feel the same so we can continue to Give with the same enthusiasm.

Lisa,
I think yor a doll, and adore zoe. I truly hope you don't take offence to this, but some of us just can't give in any way. I am a Stay at home mom of 4...2 with one or another form of special needs. One with a ton of special needs. We are a family of 6 living on one income (my husbands). His income is too large for any extra assistance, but too little to live comfortabally. For me to even donate one small thing to each give would kill us. Shipping on items is at least $5. I do feel bad that I can't participate with the big give, and hate to hear everyone raving about it cause it does make me feel bad. I am a big giver here in my home town. I always give away my girls toys, and clothes to those in need and places that I feel need tooys. I don't want you to think im attacking you, just wanted you to know that some of us would really love to help but can't. I know im not alone, I can't be. Even with the price of gas...my oldest has at least 2 appointments a week to attend. I hope you understand my situation, and understand that I am not mad...just want to be heard that I too have a heart, even if I don't take part of the big give.

I got it. I'll do the other shirts. You need the 4? for the others? Or did you want them for the 2 kids to? And can I make a suggestion? Can someone design a lime green mickey head? About the size of the paint chip. And put the DisBoards logo on it? I could put that on the sleeve.

You have to check out rockvale outlets! There are some great stores and there is a disney outlet!

I saw that and there is a VF outlet there, I used to go to Reading when I lived in PA but really I want to hit the Pottery Barn Kids Outlet the most. Shh... don't tell my DH, we have a Pottery Barn outlet here but the kids selection is small to see a PBK all on it's own is staggering for me. I'm hoping to find a couple of things I've been interested in for when we buy a house for the playroom.

Needless to say, I'm pinching pennies like crazy right now and hiding them away.

Delaney is really excited about doing Day Out With Thomas again, we did it two years ago in Cumberland, MD but we're really looking forward to going in Strasburg since there's so much more to do there. I think Delaney will like Dutch Wonderland. She's really looking forward to the Make A Friend Workshop and the Hands On House.

I haven't told her about Willow Valley Resort yet, I'm hoping we can still get in on Tuesday, she would go crazy for the indoor water playground. I just don't want to work her up in case we don't get in there.

Michelle, I don't think anyone feels you don't have a heart. Not everyone can participate. But if you ever feel you'd like to participate, why not consider doing something small, like sending a the family a "going away" card. Have the kids sign it. Or a postcard from your state with a note on it to have a magical trip. But if not, that's okay to. Your family gives, so there is nothing to feel bad about, imo.

Happy birthday to both of you!!!!!

Thank you!

I believe Shannon will post the next family once the current one is closed (all items are filled). Right now we're just waiting for the family tees to be filled.

I don't know who the next family is nor when they travel but I know Shannon is trying to give more lead time. We just didn't want to turn down a family solely because they travel so soon.

Ok, I'll wait. I can't do those iron on shirts and don't have time right now, but wanted to participate when I could.

Thank you! I've got the kids home right now but they go to camp soon so I wanted something to start planning. I can wait until you're done with this one.

I'm sorry you are feeling badly about it; I don't think that's anyone wants at all. I think there are a few of us (Lisa and myself, I know for sure) whose kids are at the cusp of being too old for overly cutesy outfits and we don't want to give up making them. This is a way for us to do what we like and help someone else to boot. It feels good to see a kid who has been through a lot to get excited opening a package we sent and try on an outfit we made. I'm sorry if we made you feel badly.

Oh...I completed my trip report! I thought I would never finish it! Thanks to all who read it.

Sally my dh is gonna make me a Mickey head like that PM me your email addy and I'll send it to you

Michelle I don't think Lisa intended to make anyone feel guilty. I know I can totally relate to being financially stretched. I think she wanted ppl who don't post as often or belong to other groups to feel welcome and invited to join the give.

I think everyone should wear a custom! If there are 7 of you, each could wear a different Dwarf and go to the MK looking for Snow White  :rotfl:

Only if Heather appliques them and I can be dopey!!:rotfl:

Oh no, You ARE a big giver! You give at home! And there's absolutely nothing to feel bad or pressured about. There have been a lot of posts lately, and there will be posts in the future, simply because organizing such a thing takes a lot of communication. The family that we're working with right now has taken a bit of an extra push because their trip is coming up really quickly. I'm sorry if that communication has left you feeling pressured. Please understand that was never the intent. Like Stephres said, there are some that just enjoy sewing and our own children don't give us enough opportunity. SO, we're excited. I actually sewed for a BOY! Something that I can't do on a regular basis (my 11 yo DS isn't too keen on the idea!).

ANYWAY, I just want you to know that you don't need to feel left out. You DO give! And that certainly doesn't go un appreciated. AND I LOVE the idea of sending a card, postcard or colored picture from your children! I'm sure the family would LOVE it and be thrilled beyond belief that someone took the time to wish them a magical trip!

BTW.... could I get the link again for the clickable logo. I screwed up my siggy.

I'll work on that. I stink at that! I'll have to get someone that is much better at that kind of thing do it!

OK - try this - you'll need to delete the space between the [ and the url, and then again at the end after the img ]

Okay, if it comes out like my preview, any idea why the clickable part of the link is showing up in print?

I think this is great!! Kirsta loves to get mail to. My nephew Todd is 9, and I always mail him stuff. My sister said he gets so excited to get mail.

NO CLUE! To be real honest, Lisa had to help me. I fought with it for hours. I hope she'll come along and speak up. I think I'll ask her to post the appropriate "code" and sticky it in the Big Give area so we'll have it anytime someone needs it.

Chris,

I love strasburg! I haven't taken ds yet but I was planning to in the next couple of months. Roseanna loves it and also the miniture train museum. It has a HUGE display complete with mini hershey park. The hands on house is another great place, our moms group goes there alot. Roseanna and Russell both went to dutch wonderland last year and loved it and Roseanna has been bugging to go again. Let me know if you need a shopping patner, I would love to meet a fellow diser!

SMOOCHES :flower3:

Michelle, thank you for bringing this to my attention. I am so sorry if I have made you or anyone else feel bad about not being able to participate. I guess I got caught up in my excitement about the project and didn't consider how it might make people feel who don't participate for whatever reason. My post really was to let people know that even if they don't have time to stay active on this thread, I hope they know we won't exclude anyone from participating in a Big Give but not to pressure anyone into feeling they had to participate in anyway.

I totally understand the budget issue - honestly I do. My sewing is our only source of income so it's a real struggle at times. What you are doing locally is wonderful and I commend you for it. Being a single mom on a tight budget has made giving money or volunteering hard. When the Big Give came along I felt it was perfect for me because I already have the fabric, I can sew when Zoe's in bed and it's something I love to do. Still, I won't be able to do all the Big Gives whether for financial or time issues, either.

BTW - Since I completely understand about the financial aspect and know people on this thread have very different budgets, yesterday morning I started a thread on the other board for people who might be able to donate supplies that would allow others to participate who might otherwise be unable. For example, I have some Disney prints that I'm offering to ship to someone if that would help them feel they could participate. I know many people can't get it locally and it can be very expensive to buy online whereas I got these at great prices when JoAnn's red tag was 50% off. (I have a problem buying more fabric than I should so being able to pass these along for such a cause would ease my guilt just a little about my spending. :goodvibes ) I know not everyone on this thread sews or crafts, too, so I'm really trying to think of ways people can participate if they are interested but I don't want ANYONE to feel pressured to participate.

Again, I apologize if my previous post made anyone feel bad in any way!!!!!

Exactly! Although Zoe still likes most of what I make her, I'll admit she's a little "jaded" to getting handmade items. I'm also using this as a chance to show her it's important to give to others when we can. We've talked quite a bit about the Cinderella dress, why I made it and who the little girl is that will wear it.
