WOW!!! I was planning on making myself a bag using Amy Butler's Nappy bag pattern, cause I totally LOVE it and it huge and one of those just shove anything into type bags. I have some yellow fabric and I was planning on doing a Snow White applique but THIS is too cute. I LOVE it!!! Why do you guys do this to me... NOT like I actually will have time to make my own bag anyway. Although I do have a pattern cut out of a style similar to this that I WAS making for the boys teachers except that murphy's law came to my house that week.:( UG, add it to my list of WDW projects I will NEVER get done.

...t.

Oh Tifani, I am glad you like the bag. Don't fret. Bags are quick and easy. Try one without curves they are fun to create and once you make one they go together quickly when you make another one.
As for projects that won't get done, I bought some pirate fabric to make crayon rolls for DS's birthday party. I haven't made a single one and the party is Saturday. Making 13 crayon rolls just doesn't appeal to me. I think I will just put the boxes of crayons in a goody bag.

That's another thing that I meant to mention...Dad getting left out.

I was wondering if anyone thought we should contact the disigns board to see if if they are interested in doing some t-shirts for the WHOLE family? if they could get together 1 t-shirt per family member it would be cool. We would still be shouldering the most of the give. Hey, if there is a scrapbook thread maybe we could get autograph books made too. This is the BIG GIVE RIGHT??? Let's think globally and get some of the other threads involved.

Oh crud, I forgot to add this in my previous post!

Dilated to 5 cm!!!

This is what happened with Claire too. I dilate and still end up being induced. But now I kind of feel like I am far enough dilated that I really don't want to go into labor and that I would rather just be induced since I don't want to have an accidental home or car birth! The hospital is about 30 minutes away with no traffic but on a busy day could take an hour. Luckily my doctor is on call the whole weekend if I do go into labor though. Also, I want to take the girls to see Wall-E tomorrow or this weekend and I'm supposed to get my hair cut, and all of the other last minute stuff I want to get done! So here is to hoping that this baby just stays put!

I love this & BTW I was the same way!
You start to get uncomfortable and are ready for the baby to come then.....
You realize the baby will be here SOON and then you don't feel ready yet!! So many things to do, projects to finish!! Well enjoy it- There is no other feeling quite like it!! :cloud9: :scared1: :hyper: All at the same time!!!!

Upon further investigation I realize that the owner of said boutique (who also sells her stuff on e-bay and I'm sure it's the same stuff on her site-which DON'T get me wrong, has never been an issue for me, you want exclusivity- fine I'll make other designs to sell elsewhere I've got range.) has stuff in ANOTHER boutique which claims loud and clear that it is from WBB and has her name on the photos and on labels on the items...... the more I think about it the more I get a little offended that she even asked me to NOT put my name on things, but there is the Jessica and Tifani thinking that "sometimes we take what we can get" and I ought to let it go for now. JEESH!

I finally made a 4th of July top for DD10--the nice thing about the criss cross pattern is since it goes by measurements, I didn't have to alter the pattern to make it fit my size 12 girl!

IMG_0766.jpg
Aww that turned out so cute!!! Your DD is a doll!

This is Jenna's Wall-E dress.
S2010146-1.jpg
Aww I really like the Wall-E dress and the rest are all cute too!!!

This may be a little bit tacky, and if I offend anyone I truly am sorry. But what make someone elgible to be a receiver in a big give project? :confused3
As most of you know my situation, I feel that my oldest 8 year old daughter may be considered special enough. Just a thought, Im not holding out my hand and begging or anything, but know what we go thru on a daily.

She has been diagnosed; ADHD, has high anxiety, ODD, bi-polar, watched for Aspbergers, she is learning disabled, she has propreoceptive and vistubular delays and sensory issues. She also has mild schitzofrenia (spelling ?). All 4 of my daughters are adopted. We got her at 11 months and she was in a bottle, not walking, not talking, and very sick. She had lived in 13 different places (including outside in November in Michigan, shelters, basements, cars, and apartments), she was in her car seat and thrown across a room, witnessed domestic violence, saw her birth parents hem hem "have relations", and been left alone for days at churches and peoples houses.

We got to a counselors once a week, goto rehab every other week, goto a "peer play group" every other week, see a psychologist every month, a case manager comes to our house once a week, and every 6 months she sees a neurologist to track seizures and the aspburgers syndrome (she has not been diagnosed, however they are watching her for this)

Like I said, I truly am not a begger, and I don't expect anything, just curious really what it would take to grab the attention of you lovely ladies (and man) for the big give project. Please forgive me if you feel offended or if you feel that I am in the wrong, this was never my intentions.
Awww major hugs to you sweetie!!!Your little girl is lucky to have you!!!!

things here have been crazy, tryign to dealw ith both parents not having a job. Still trying to figure things out. I am still half done with my big give stuff....I haven't sewed in weeks, so I have been ashamed to even stop by here.

As soon as I get things done, and my life back in order, I'll be back....promise. thank goodness for the new photobucket account, since I haven't read ANYTHING on this whole new thread!
Awww hugs to you too!!!

That is ADORABLE!!!!!!

NO! :rotfl2:
It's not the fabric that I'm sick of, it's the Simba applique. Both times I've done that applique, it's given me fits, so I won't be doing another Simba for quite some time!
:rotfl2: :lmao: WHAT? No more SIMBA's?????? This is a sad day! (Haven't you ever heard that practice makes perfect???? JUST TEASING!!!! You know I am prolly your #1 fan.....yes that means Teresa has to be a close second, right behind me....hahahahahaha) :moped: ..............:moped: LOL

I kind of finished Kyle's shirt. I still have to do the buttons but they terrify me so I may leave it as a shirt/jacket type thing.

I will say for a 1st time making a shirt like this I am impressed especially with ho wI lined up the patterns:woohoo: Not perfect but for a 1st shirt and a 1st time working with a lined/striped type material pattern. I am pretty happy.
IMG_4502.jpg
WOW that came out GREAT!!!!! I love it!

Here's the Hello Kitty outfit. I can't believe I did the whole applique, it's not my favorite thing to do but I'm starting to get better...

Here's the Wall-e outfit. It didn't turn out a thing like I had wanted because the pillow panels were so big the skirt would be dragging on the floor I had to chop them down so far that I'm missing the contrast of the darker fabric around the panels. It works, she likes it, I just wish it was more like I had envisioned it.
DSCN2856-1.jpg
I think both of those turned out darling!!!!

I've had an idea in my head for a bag to take on my next trip to the world.
When I heard about the Big Give I decided to give it a try and see how it turned out.

I cut out two bags, one for me and one for the BIG GIVE.

I really liked the way they looked so I decided to make a smaller version for Isabelle. Then my DD saw the bags so she said she wanted one. I started cutting out more Minnie Dot and made the last two.

So get ready for lots of Minnie Bags

For the Big Give

hey t.....not sure if you saw that BillWendy made matching shirts for the Winklers and their friends for the BIG GIVE. And I know one other person mentioned making some as well. (Not sure if you were talking about this Big Give or the new Make a Wsih Give....?) Sorry if I am confused...just wanted to add what I knew. :goodvibes

Ohhh and I agree with most everyone else....you need credit for your work!!! Though I see your point about just getting your stuff out there for now. (I know i am really no help at all).

I did notice on HeatherN's PTR that she already has autograph books.

Someone, I'll have to go back and check - I'm not sure if I included the name or not, offered to make tie dye shirts for the parents. I also thiink the Creative DISigns idea is a great one too! Would someone be willing to try to coordinate getting a design together and be willing to donate the shirts for the designs?

I think someone made a set of shirts for the family.

THere is a big scrapbooking thread but I think the ladies on the Swap thread would be very helpful. Those threads are in the creative community.

Yeah, I was kinda meaning if this was going to be an ongoing thing. That we could get the other creative threads involved. It was my understanding that we wanted to do the Give as a regular thing. However often it is. I was just curious that's all.

HELP ME PLEASE!!!!

I'm glad you're finally feeling better !!

I can't see a single reason why she wouldn't want you to put a tag in the dresses, can you? The only reason I can think of is if she wants to say that she, or someone else made them. I'd go ahead and put the tags in.

I kind of finished Kyle's shirt. I still have to do the buttons but they terrify me so I may leave it as a shirt/jacket type thing.

I do have a question incase I do add buttons. For some reason the button guide doesn't line up right I even tried the smaller size guise. Should I just wing it and do it on my own?
th_IMG_4503.jpg

Sorry the picture might be hard to see...

If I do add buttons I want to find Mickey buttons.
WOW!! That turned out great!!!

Buttons aren't too hard, especially if you have an automatic buttonholer on your sewing machine. You can do it! Maybe you can have someone show you how this time and I'm sure you'll be able to do it next time.

WOW! That applique looks wonderful!! It looks like you used the same fabric I did for my Hello Kitty face, too.

I love the Wall-E outfit, too! Great job!

I'm not sure if this is the best place to ask this question but my daughter just finished a great sewing camp and wants to sew more. I have a sewing machine in my basement that I am going to look at this afternoon. I sewed from 7th grade through high school so the machine has not been touched in 20+ years.

I am thinking about getting a new one and thought there was a thread or two that discussed machines that people liked or good machines to start with. However, using the search function turned up nothing.

If anyone here could direct me to those threads or provide recommendations that would be great.

Also, the pictures in these threads are fantastic - you are all very creative.
:welcome: You've come to the right place! You can ask us anything over here. I have a Brother CS6000i that I love!!! Several people have already mentioned it. WalMart is clearancing them out, so you may get lucky and find it for around $80.

Oh crud, I forgot to add this in my previous post!

Am I evil that I think it would be great if you went into labor during Wall-E? KIDDING!!!

I honestly don't think anyone is going to notice. It looks cute!

I LOVE that Marie fabric, how adorable!!!

I have a stupid question. Am I doing scrapbook SUPPLIES or am I making a couple of pages/elements??? I'm willing to do either...I will put it to a DisBoutique vote
It's up to you! You could always PM HeatherN and ask her what she would prefer. She's very nice!

Heather and Teresa. Thanks for helping me procrastinate at work yet again with your trip reports!!! LOVE the pics! I'm so excited for dinner at 1900 Park Fare now!!!!
Glad to be of service! :thumbsup2 We LOVED that dinner, it was the best of our whole trip. Plus, I got that priceless photo of Sawyer and Prince Charming. :rotfl2:

Those bags are FANTASTIC!!! I wanted to make something like that for myself for our May trip and I never got around to it.

WHAT? No more SIMBA's?????? This is a sad day! (Haven't you ever heard that practice makes perfect???? JUST TEASING!!!! You know I am prolly your #1 fan.....yes that means Teresa has to be a close second, right behind me....hahahahahaha) :moped: ..............:moped: LOL
NO MORE SIMBAS!!! :rotfl2: Then again, if Sawyer decides that he loves Simba, I'd probably crank out another one. I may choose a different picture, though! Thank you for the compliment, and the :moped:

That is an awesome, awesome shirt. My nephew would LOVE that print. Man, y'all find some awesome Disney fabrics around here. I need to start looking for some as well. I probably have 10 outfits and 4prs of jammies to make for the girls for our next trip.

Thanks guys. I agree. She knows that I haven't sold my stuff before now so I really didn't know what to expect. I agree that it will stunt my opportunity for outside sales, but I think that's probably her angle. She doesn't want people to see they can get my stuff in other places. BUT frankly. It's not like I have anything that is SO unique or a well known name. But I do think my stuff is cute and well made. The stuff I have up now is pretty basic b/c I needed to get a few outfits to her quickly to have something up...the ones I am working on are a little more involved. I think I will let her know that I would prefer that my name was on my clothing and her site. She hasn't said DON'T sell on other sites, hell her stuff is on other sites w/ the same name as her boutique. She just request we don't sell the exact same items, which I think is fair. But I would like to build some kind of name for myself. I don't think I'll ever be able to quit my day job, but I like making clothes and I'd like to continue doing it.

I guess I've just been afraid that I've put time and money into this and I don't want it to work. Not to mention the emotional investment. This has really been a struggle for me. I don't have the greatest self esteem and don't usually put much faith into myself or what I do. My DH and MIL had to convince me that my clothes are not just average and that I could do this. So there was a lot of emotional turmoil involved as well. So I just didn't want to blow it. But I suppose if it falls through I can just put the fabric or make outfits to put on etsy. Whatever. I think I should stand up for myself.

Thanks for the encouragement.
...t.

You HAVE to have confidence in yourself because you are going to come across some very callous store owners who will do/say anything if it means it might increase their bottom line. Your sets are very cute and as long as the construction is good then you have a quality product to offer. Maybe you should consider sending out samples to other boutique owners? You send the sample(s) they decide if they want to order or not then they send the sample back to you. Remember, there are 1000's of children's boutiques out there, don't settle for one that wants to do something you aren't comfortable with.

JEESH!...t.

I'd love to know who this is though I have a couple of ideas, anyway, this just reinforces what has already been said. Tag your items!!!! I don't recomment the tape labels that some use either. I know of a couple of instances where owners removed those tapes and put their own on. Don't take what you can get, get what you want!!!!

Very cute! I love that fabric. Buttons aren't as hard as they seem.

I managed to get pictures and I managed to get the Hello Kitty 4th of July set done, I hadn't planned on doing it all in a day but once I got into it I just kept going. Today I have to make Vegas (Delaney's teddy bear) a new dress for the Teddy Bear Picnic at camp tomorrow. I have her dress cut out and I've started sewing but I've got to go and get Delaney in a few minutes.

Here's the Hello Kitty outfit. I can't believe I did the whole applique, it's not my favorite thing to do but I'm starting to get better...

Can you tell I hate to hem? I swear bias tape is my favorite thing these days. Please pardon the chocolate cookie face. I can't believe I was actually able to take a picture in our apartment, it's nice that it's so clean now.

I'll be back on later, it's time to get small people. After Vegas' dress the only thing I have on my plate right now is the dress I need to start for the Lion King show.

Soooo cute! I LOVE the HK 4th of July! And I sent you a PM

I love these! I've been wanting to try a bag for a long time now and haven't felt brave enough. And now it's time for my weekly "I NEED an embroidery machine!" whine.

Gotcha, T! I think that's a great idea! I think it would be great to kinda come up with a standard "package" deal that we give for each family. I would love to build this to include:
a completed scrapbook that the family puts their pics in
Autograph book for each child
passport for world showcase for each child
t-shirts for all family members (using creative DISigns)

I think it would be great to include all of those things with the outfits that we make. I believe that it will take a bit of work and collaboration, but I believe we can work towards it!

I have a confession to make!

I've been in a sewing slump. Like everything I made was coming out really, really bad. I've still not finished my round 1 Big Give outfit. I made the skirt 3 times. All of them went in the trash. SO, today, I knew I had to try again. And I'm proud to report that I THINK MY SLUMP IS OVER! FINALLY the applique is as I want it to be. FINALLY I think I have the right version of the pattern that I need. The skirt will be finished tonight. The top will be finished by this weekend. I can sew again! WOO HOO!

Where did you see the pattern? It sounds cool. Sophie likes to sleep near me and at night she likes to sleep under the covers. I have been thinking of making that green fabric she is laying on into a bed for her.

McCalls 5677. Isn't that cute! It's one of the new patterns.

quick quest.? for the Big Give, have they received some of the outfits yet? I am dying to see pictures. just wondering?

For the first round of the Big Give, a lost of the outfits have already been sent.

For round two (first round of MAW Big Give), no one has shipped yet - we just started a couple of days ago.

Here is my finished Pettiskirt. I think I might attempt another one, now that I have a working ruffler. I used a stretch chiffon from a theatre art store that Lisazoe posted. The second is twirl factor. Color might look odd, she has on a brown skort underneath. I do want to get her a pair of petti pants to go underneath.

This is the skirt I made for it. It's not finished yet. I'm thinking of putting a bandana print ruffle on it (that will co-ord with the top). The second isn't a very good shot of the fabric. It's mickey as a cowboy. We're going to the BarBQue.

I was just at Walmart, they have a new Tink Fairie fabric. Of course I got a couple of yards. Lord knows what I'll do with it.

AND, I still have a slant shank ruffler if anyone needs one. I'd be glad to send it.

Let's think globally and get some of the other threads involved.

...t.

There was a thread going about the Big Give on the Disigns board - and they made mickey head designs for me for the whole family (i was able to get Alicia to tell me who everyones' favorite character was) and sent them out on Tuesday to them. the only other thing I could think of for dad is are they staying at a hotel with a food court? maybe if we knew someone who was going there prior to their trip we could pitch in for some refillable mugs to go into their basket?????????

Ooh, I love this idea!

I really don't feel like my sewing is up to par with so many of the people on the board so I would feel kind of bad about sending something to others (I am really hung up on the fact that I don't have a serger to finish seams nicely), plus the time commitment involved with the new baby (especially since the second Give is so soon).
But I love to scrapbook and could easily make a page(s) to give. Especially if it was making the same page over and over (sorry that sounds boring, but it would be quicker). And I already have a page in mind! It would be fantastic if we could send a scrapbook too before the trip so they would know which pictures to take (Dumbo, Space Mountain, Castle, etc.).
