I give up. Does anyone have a Singer 7422? I am looking at the manual and can't figure out what kind of shank I have.

Look at where the foot screws onto the shank. If it has a slight slant, it's a slant. Singer used to be slant. But I don't know about the new models. If it looks like it's about less then an inch, it's probably a short shank. I don't know about a high shank. You could try to email singer for info.

Hey stephanie,
Guess where I live!

I live about 20 minutes from the holiday inn.

The good news is that about a 3 minute drive you will be at a JoAnn fabrics. It is a newer store, and pretty big. They are on the same street.

The waterpark is nice. The just built it. Everything is new. We have been once. They also have a website.

Are you driving over the bridge/tunnle and taking I-75 thru detroit?

There is also a hancock fabrics about a 25 minute drive. If you are interested let me know and I will get the directions from the hotel to the hancock fabrics for you. You also have a movie theater across the street and down a ways from the hotel.

Let me know if I can help you in any way.

Well, thanks for the info. Yup, I think we're crossing at Detroit. Do you mean there's a Hancocks near Detroit? Or near Toledo? You have no idea how excited I am to go to Hancocks!!! Is there a good outlet mall nearby? I would like to go to Carter's/OshKosh/Stride-Rite for the kids.

Thanks!!!

Stephanie

Not sure what type it is.

This helps me. Sit the foot flat, and look at the peice the screws in. Is it at a bit of a slant? I was trying to see the one in your picture, but it's turned a bit.

I *believe* the first family has passports coming already. Someone said they were interested in doing it on the disign board, so I gave her the link to the passport. I will double check. I know there are already quite a few disigns posted in the "BIG GIVE" thread, but let me see what exactly is in there.

Michelle, do you have a link? I'm starting to get confused over the 2 gives.

I have a confession to make!

I've been in a sewing slump. Like everything I made was coming out really, really bad. I've still not finished my round 1 Big Give outfit. I made the skirt 3 times. All of them went in the trash. SO, today, I knew I had to try again. And I'm proud to report that I THINK MY SLUMP IS OVER! FINALLY the applique is as I want it to be. FINALLY I think I have the right version of the pattern that I need. The skirt will be finished tonight. The top will be finished by this weekend. I can sew again! WOO HOO!
:cool1: Yay for getting out of your funk!

I think it might have found me. I haven't been very happy with the last 3 outfits I made.:headache:

Here is my finished Pettiskirt. I think I might attempt another one, now that I have a working ruffler. I used a stretch chiffon from a theatre art store that Lisazoe posted. The second is twirl factor. Color might look odd, she has on a brown skort underneath. I do want to get her a pair of petti pants to go underneath.

This is the skirt I made for it. It's not finished yet. I'm thinking of putting a bandana print ruffle on it (that will co-ord with the top). The second isn't a very good shot of the fabric. It's mickey as a cowboy. We're going to the BarBQue.

And since everyone already did thier Dance Recitial. We just had ours last weekend. Not good shots. My camera is starting to bite the dust. Kirsta is second to left in the Cowboy outfit and on the far right in the fairy outfit.
Beautiful! The petti looks great and the outfit is going to be great!

I did a search on Carter's and there is one in Monroe, MI.

It looks like a short shank to me. Most old machines have the slant type and 99% of newer machines have a short shank.
Here's the Singer customer service number. It's open from 8-4 Central time:

actually once you cross over to detroit and get on I - 75 you will see signs for the "Monroe Manufacture Marketplace" Pretty nice size outlet mall. THey have the kids stores you would like to get to. From Detroit to toledo is a 45 minute drive.

The Hancock is in Toledo (sylvania - a small suburb of Toledo)....about 25 monute drive from your hotel. The JoAnna is about a 3 minute drive from your hotel.

When I put the foot down it is straight. I don't see any slant. I think it is a short foot. It is about 7 years old I think.

:cool1: :cool1: Hi does anyone know where to get a Mary poppins pattern for girls Jolly holiday costume the pretty white one thanks

Just wanted to let everyone know that I took Heather's suggestion and contacted mom. One thing she mentioned is that Hannah is REALLY into Nemo (I don't know if that is mentioned in her PreTrip Report...I forget) and that they are also going to Sea World. If anyone has an Sea World outfit ideas...I'm sure that they would appreciate those too. I let her know that I would send along some Sea World scrapbooking supplies

UPDATE for anyone doing scrapbook stuff for mom. She is doing 12X12 books and would like ANYTHING (premade pages, elements, store bought supplies) for the trip since she doesn't have a ton of time to work on scrapbooks.

It just so hapens that I am working on a nemo outfit for DD right now. I will post pics when it is finished. I commited to do a tinkerbell outfit, but mabye I can inspire someone. I am using nemo storybook panels, and the blue wavy fabric with small characters.

Hi my name is Julie and I am new to the board. I absolutely love the mickey mouse clubhouse panel twirl skirt. I have searched everywhere for the mickey mouse clubhouse panel and cannot find it. I would love to make my daughter a skirt for my son's mickey mouse clubhouse party. Any suggestions as to where I may find this? Thanks, Julie

I was just at Walmart, they have a new Tink Fairie fabric. Of course I got a couple of yards. Lord knows what I'll do with it.

AND, I still have a slant shank ruffler if anyone needs one. I'd be glad to send it.

I love the petticoat! I can't imagine the work involved.

Was your daughter's dance recital at Mount Pleasant High School last weekend? I think she goes to the same dance school as my step-daughter Tessa. She is in the 11yo class. I'm still waiting for my pictures to come in to post.

BIG GIVE 2 (MAW BIG GIVE)
Benefitting a fellow DIS family who will be going to WDW on a Make A Wish Trip. This is the information that I have been given from the mom:
Hello there, Thank you so much for your message. That is a VERY generous offer to help me with some designs.I have really enjoyed looking at the boards at all of your designs and have been in awe of your beautiful work.I am a crafty person by nature but don't do well in this area! If you would be willing to help with anything I would be very grateful!

My daughter Hannah is the wish child. She is almost 10.She wears about a size 10.Her favorite is Cinderella. She is crazy about any of the princesses though. She is also in Love with Bullseye from Toy story, and of the Jungle book characters, lion king, bambi.Well, I guess there really isn't a disney movie she does not like. She is pretty well obsessed with any and all disney. She is very much a girly girl and loves pink and sparkles.
My son Logan is 5.He wears around a size 5 and tends to be on the tiny side. His favorite is the movie Cars.Lightning McQween is is favorite. He also likes Toy story .He loves all things fish and is looking forward to Sea World. Both kids are nuts about Finding Nemo.
Anything any of you would be willing to help with would be wonderful. Thanks so much, Heather

I am coordinating the MAW Big Give

MouseTriper is coordinating the Big Give round 1

I have a confession to make!

I've been in a sewing slump. Like everything I made was coming out really, really bad. I've still not finished my round 1 Big Give outfit. I made the skirt 3 times. All of them went in the trash. SO, today, I knew I had to try again. And I'm proud to report that I THINK MY SLUMP IS OVER! FINALLY the applique is as I want it to be. FINALLY I think I have the right version of the pattern that I need. The skirt will be finished tonight. The top will be finished by this weekend. I can sew again! WOO HOO!

Phew! I'm so glad you made it through that! What would we do if you were in a slump?!?!?! Now, go sew something GREAT!

I can do the passports for the MAW thing as well. I'm a designer in the disign forum & would be glad to coordinate things in there, if that's what you guys want to do. I also have autograph covers in my photobucket that I've made. The link is in my sig

Super!!! I think a coordinator over there is exactly what we need. I agree w/ Shannon (who I thought I quoted-oops) about a "standard" package. Of course there will be details changed for personalization but a general guideline about what we want included. I am very excited about this.

AND I'm gonna need some tips myself b/c I am askeered to make autograph books and I have didn't even know people made passports and what kind of Diser would I be if my kids went to THE World w/out them???

Hi my name is Julie and I am new to the board. I absolutely love the mickey mouse clubhouse panel twirl skirt. I have searched everywhere for the mickey mouse clubhouse panel and cannot find it. I would love to make my daughter a skirt for my son's mickey mouse clubhouse party. Any suggestions as to where I may find this? Thanks, Julie

WELCOME JULIE!!!! Glad to have you, make yourself at home! The clubhouse skirt isn't a fabric panel so to speak. It is made from a sew it yourself cloth children's book. They have it at Joanns. Several girls on here made skirts using the story books. There is probably a tutorial of some sort in the TheresaJoy's bookmarks on pg. 1. I'm not sure, I've been meaning to look for it myself, but if the girls on here gave instructions on it chances are Theresa put a link to it in her bookmarks. ALWAYS check the bookmarks, Theresa is absolutely AMAZING:worship:

Gotta go, DH is sighing:worried: I was just informed that DH is an old lady thing to say. So, what do you think we should call him instead.

DPIMB???

....t.

The petti is beautiful!!

Ok, so I spent all day, and I mean ALL DAY on a dress. But it was so short it turned into a shirt. ;) And it's a mess, lol. But I got to do things I haven't done before, like elastic, trim and pleats.

I can't find my cord that goes into my camera to put my pictures on my computer, grrrr.

All I know is that from now on, I will have a clear picture in mind of what I want to do BEFORE I start, and I will be following patterns from now on, and does anyone know of a good deal on a sewing machine?? :rotfl:

I bought the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse fabric book as a prepackaged kit at JoAnn's. They actually have 2 different ones but they are very simular. One is $12.99 and the other is $9.99 but I was able to use a coupon on it.

ok, I'm lost!

I have not been around much. I started a new job-not liking it so far. There is a 2nd big give?

We're thinking of taking DS for a birthday surprise to the Holiday Inn in Maumee (it has an indoor water park). We're driving from Toronto, and it's about a 4 hour drive, so we want it to be worth the drive. Anyone been here? Are there any great fabric stores in Toledo? Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks so much:)

Stephanie

I don't know if this helps but there is a much closer indoor waterpark in Frankenmuth Michigan. It is called the Bavarian Inn. If you have not been to Frankenmuth is a nice little town to visit and plenty to do for a weekend. Fudge factories, outlet malls!!!!!!!, horse draw carriages and bronners. Oh and my sweet tart eating bear!

HEY! I've been wondering where you've been! Sorry you're not liking the new job.

Yes, there is a new big give. We started yesterday (I think?). We're benefitting a family that is going to Orlando with the Make A Wish foundation.

OK! Maybe I lied. The waistband is not in the skirt yet. I got home much later than I anticipated, so it'll have to wait for tomorrow. But that's fine. But I thought I'd give you a sneak peak of the skirt that has given me such difficulty. This is the applique that finally did what I wanted it to do!

SORRY! I did resize that pic. But it is still posting big.

Here are a few things I made for Abby for her birthday (the watermelon outfit girlie).....
This first one Im worried the top will be too small - I made Carla's aline in a size 5 but the short length, and it looks tiny!!!! cross your fingers for me!!!
100_0942.jpg

Here are some bows to go with her watermelon outfit, and then a shirred walmart princess dress I had already given her...
100_0943.jpg

Here is the ariel shirred dress plus a bitty baby ariel pillowcase dress...
100_0944.jpg

Hannah Montana shorts and top (plus shorts for Bitty)
100_0945.jpg

And the final one - yes, she is in love with speed racer!!! she is getting a helmet from her parents, so I thought this would be fun to match!!!
100_0946.jpg

Hoping she likes them!!!
