Does anyone have a good pattern for a hoodie?
YCMT.com has a Raglan tee pattern and it includes a pattern for a hoodie. It is by CarlaC. I have it and it is cute and very easy to understand. It is for sizes 6 mos to 12 years and it includes a pattern for a dolly.

Hello my name is Valerie and this is my very first post. I have been reading a bunch of the old threads...man I didn't think I would ever find the right door. But I did! I am wondering if anyone can tell me where I might get my hands on some Minnie Dot fabric that was discontinued?:worried: I have been looking everywhere for it. I looked on eBay but there was only one person selling it and I just cannot bring myself to pay $25.00 a yard for it. We are doing a week at Disney in September on a budget and I am trying to put together some nice outfits like I have seen on here. (Which by the way....there are so many awesomely talented people on this board. Lots of people to learn from:banana:   ) Well anyhow I know I am a little late to find it (I am always the last to know) but I am praying for a find. So any help would be greatly appreciated:)

First Welcome!!! Always glad to have new people in our group.
I recently found the Minnie Dot fabric at FabricHound.com (search under Michael Miller fabrics) and HancockFabrics.com (search for Red Dress Dot.) HTH.

I am so jealous of the wall-e fabric! I can't buy anything until I use some of the stash up or get rid of it!

Weird question here. So, I got some cute pooh fabric because it was on clearance but the characters are all asleep...So it would be dumb to make anything but nursery stuff out of it, right?

First Welcome!!! Always glad to have new people in our group.

Thank you so much I am going to check it out ASAP:)

I guess it doesn't pay to surf Ebay for fun anymore...While searching for nothing important..I came across an oufit, that used my ideas...I'm so sick of pathetic people who can't think for themselves...:furious:
Rant over...::yes::

Hi guys. I have been at teacher workshops all week, so I have been in lurk mode. let me say, everyone's new stuff is too cute!!! I actually did get to some sewing done. It took mjke like 3 hours to do this last night:

DSC00494.jpg

It is my first character applique, so i need some feedback. You can see the white through the stitching a little bit, but I am not sure it bothers me enough to scrap it. What do ya'll think?

I wouldn't scrap it...My first applique was no where near that good (I did scrap it though!!!

   I am sooo happy to say that my little Rylie is allll better! She has been her happy go lucky little self for the past 2 days and I am LOVING it! I was really worried about her, so I am just sooo relieved that she is better! Thank you to EVERYONE who sent prayers and good thoughts our way! I know I have missed sooo many cute things:( but I just can't keep up with you guys!!!!!:moped: I was wondering if anyone has tried the new flouncy dress pattern from ycmt? It looks sooo cute!!! I, of course, do not know why I am looking at this site? We are sooo on a tight budget right know that it is not even funny! They have drastically cut my dh hours at work and he told me today that his company might be selling out!:scared1:  I don't know what that would mean as far as my dh even having a job or not, which is pretty scary!:faint: Any way, sorry for the vent, but I am just praying that everything works out and I can eventually get back to normal! I want that pattern and also want Carla's patchwork skirt pattern! those two will be first on my list when I get off restriction!:rotfl: :rotfl2:

Here's another quick Pre-Shirred Dress. I made this one while we were home with the bronchitis and ear infection...mean mommy made her try it on when she was sick!

I hope you are feeling better Tifani!

I finished this last night for Jenna's little friend.
S2010248.jpg

It's a summer version of Drizella's dress.
Oh my goodness, too cute!!! I knew what it was right away!!! Great job Crystal!!!
I just discovered this thread and I love seeing what all of you talented sewers have done.

Has anyone sewn a Cinderella's maid dress? My daughter has informed me this is what she would like to be for Halloween this year and she thinks it would be fun to wear to 1900 Park Fare for dinner.

I'd love to see someone's picture and if anyone found a pattern or just made their own. Thanks.
:welcome !!!

Has anyone done Ariel in the blue dress? I am about to go check out photobucket but when I search othing comes up. Wondering if you have what pattern you used?

Nana made one for Alikat's daughters.

Hey guys where are you????

I am so excited I got the outfits in the mail today that I ordered from ! I love them.

The first set I like but I love the second! I noticed when DD tied her up she tied up a little tight so that may make a difference.
new033-1.jpg

The second set and why I originally bought from her lol.
new027-1.jpg

I LOOOVE those!!! Our neice Casey had a Looney Tunes coat that she loved when she was about 2, and I'm pretty sure I spotted her trying to wear it this winter too! I love those ears!!!

The giraffe is so cute too!!! Fluffy and pretty!!! Great outfits!!!

ladies, I love what you do. Beautiful stuff. I hope someday we'll be blessed with a daddys girl so mommy can make this stuff. till then, I'll just make my boys thier bedding and curtains.

You should try making somethings for your boys! :thumbsup2

Well I got the kiddos heir cuts for the beach trip and wanted to share! Here is Roseanna, the reason for the cut is my chaepness. She always gets a hair wrap and you pay by the inch so I cut like 5 inches off. Well here she is :

That has GOT to be the funniest reason I've ever heard for cutting your child's hair!!! I would SOOOO do that too!!! She looks gorgeous though. Russell is a cutie!

School starts the Tuesday after Labor Day. This year's release is a bit early. A few years ago we had so many snow days they had school on Good Friday, had to cancel a few teacher in service days and went to school til 6/30.

WOW! That's when we start too! I can't imagine going that long! Our school district hardly EVER closes for snow days. Corey went from 2nd - 9th grade with 2 snow days! This last year though, I think we had 3. Thankfully, they were already figured into the schedule, so we didn't have to make them up.

Just wanted to let you all know they found a body believed to be my brothers friend. Thanks for all you thoughts and prayers. I hope now his family & friends can start to grieve their loss.
Oh Anna, I'm so very sorry. I know you were all hoping for a different outcome. I'm glad they were able to find him though.

Hi everyone! I don't usually post on here because I can't sew but I'm on here everyday looking at what everyone has made. I love all your outfits but a suggestion, more EEYORE! My ddil (disneylovinfamily) sews so I look out for stuff for her and call her. I had surgery on Monday and am now trying to catch up. My dd brought her laptop to me in bed so I could read. I LOVE my grandson's new do, can't wait to see it in person. Keep up the good work everyone and God bless all of you on the give project.
I agree!!!! Eeyore is my favorite!!! I just bought some Eeyore fabric, and am planning on making a sundress for Lyddy.
Finally, I finished the outfit I cut out last Thursday!

Very cute!
Some of you may remember that while Jenna was in school this past year she kept getting notes sent home from teacher. Well today she had an appointment with her eye doctor and he has diagnosed her with eye convergence problems. This means that her eyes don't align right. He said that children with this problem sometimes can't concentrate on their work and will actually stop doing the work because they can't get their eyes to work right. That explains Jenna perfectly. So next month she is going to go back for more tests and he said that they want to start her in some therapy that he said will correct the problem. So hopefully next year will be better for her. It's nice to know that she won't have to be medicated.
I'm glad you found out what was wrong. I'm glad she doesn't need medication or surgery.

To All- can you please pray for 2 couples my aunt knows- one couple gave birth to a little girl who only lived 2hrs before passing and then the other couple (2 brothers I believe) lost their 2 and half month old little boy (to SIDS I believe) if you'd like to read their story you can visit www.audreycaroline.blogspot.com

megan is having issues with all highway driving- she gets car sick. Please pray that this resolves itself. Her Pediatrician says theres nothing I can do about it. Im hoping it will be a short phase!
Thank you for sharing this with us. I will pray for them both.

I finally got Halie over to try her shirt on.

Making a pirate face...

I haven't fixed the back yet, but here's what it will look like. I'm going to add elastic to the fabric strip. I like it much better now. This shirt was soooo easy to make!!!

th_P6110640.jpg
Oh goodness, Halie is so adorable!!! She looks like you! The tops look adorable!!!

I really should be off the computer today. We are leaving tomorrow morning, and I still have quite a few things to do. Anyway, I did this last night for ds...no sewing involved, just an iron on with a design from the Creative DISign boards...so much easier and faster than sewing..lol

th-IMG_5960d.jpg

Hope everyone have a great week/weekend...and I will be back next Sunday!
Have a great trip Jenny!!! The shirt looks great!
That is cute! I need myself some designs from there. One day I will have time.

It looks great!

I am new to sewing and am having trouble with my machine...as I sew the bottom thread gets bunched up and a lot comes out:confused3 I knew someone here would be able to help me out!! Ok also if this is imp. my machine isn't great it's a Shark euro prox...here is my last creation though....(now I'm making a pirate corset)
th_IMG_2059.jpg
The top is so cute!! So are your daughters!

I figured out my problem...my top thread had come unhooked from the U part in the threading process...Thanks everyone!
I was going to say it sounds like something isnt' threaded right! I'm glad you figured it out!
I didn't use a pattern I just put it together (I'm not sure I would know how to use a pattern :confused3 ) there might be a pattern on the bookmarks (which are great THANK YOU ) on page 1
Thanks!
There is one in the bookmarks called an apron top that looks a lot like this one!

:welcome If you are going in September, you might want to wait until Walmart gets their halloween fabric in, they usually get the Minnie Dot in for $2 a yard. I'm thinking they got it in in August last year?

I'll have to get caught up on here later--busy day! But I wanted to shamelessly shout I UPDATED MY TRIP REPORT!

I think it looks great! :thumbsup2 I wouldn't scrap it all. You only notice the stuff like the white showing through because you are staring at it. I think once it's incorporated into an outfit it will look fine.

   I am sooo happy to say that my little Rylie is allll better! She has been her happy go lucky little self for the past 2 days and I am LOVING it! I am so glad Rylie is better! I hope everything works out with your husband's job, these are scary times! You don't need to buy a patchwork skirt pattern, with a little bit of math it's easy. I made one and it wasn't hard at all.

Here's another quick Pre-Shirred Dress. I made this one while we were home with the bronchitis and ear infection...mean mommy made her try it on when she was sick!
th_APurplemickeydress.jpg
th_Ap.jpg

That's what she looks like when she's sick? She's a beautiful girl (with such a pretty smile) and I love the little shirred dresses, they look so comfortable.

Crystal, glad you got some help for Jenna. Poor thing, getting in trouble when she couldn't see right. That must have been so frustrating for her.

I did not get much accomplished today. I finished the shirred back peasant top but I have no idea if it fit, it looks kind of small all scrunched up. Heather, no kids came by today for me to grab!

I am working on the skirt now, but I decided to make a three ruffle skirt (each with it's own ruffle) and I do it the long way so it's taking forever! I did buy some patriotic stuff to make the kids something to wear on the 4th. Has anyone made anything for the holiday yet?

It's great b/c it will fit all 3 girls (from 2-5 y.o.)!!!!
Great job. Glad you figured out what was going wrong with the thread.

I think it is adorable! I wouldn't scrap it. If you don't like the white showing through you might be able to carefully stitch around him again.

Look what I found today at Hancocks! I am so excited!!!!

Wallematerial.jpg

Yes, That is Wall-E material!

And some new princess material I haven't seen yet.
princessmaterial.jpg

gotta do some sewing. I am going to make some capris with the Wall-E material. Then she can wear it to the movie when it opens!
Wow Wall E Fabric! How cute is that?

I know it could have been much worse ( I am VERY grateful it was not bad) and in the grand scheme of things this is nothing. But I am mad someone hit my car. There is some damage, but it appears minor. My neck and back are sore. But THANKFULLY Morgan is ok.

We were leaving Target and stopped at the exit of the parking lot at the bottom of a small incline. The woman behind me hit me when her "foot slipped" coming down the incline. She got out of the car saying "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, are you ok?" I got out of the car and went to check on Morgan. Once I knew she was ok, I was able to speak. The woman told me she was wearing flip flops and her foot slipped and she hit me.

The officer came and told me that since it happened on private property he could not "assign blame" or even write a ticket. (Is it not still a crime?). The woman admitted she was to blame. The cars placement back that up. I thought that when you cause an accident, you get a ticket . The insurance company of the ticketed one pays right?

I have never been in an accident. I want the damage to my car fixed. If I call my insurance company, will I have to pay my deductible? Am I supposed to call her insurance?

  I hope you guys are all right. Sometimes it takes a day before it starts to hurt. So go to a Doctor if you are hurting tomorrow. Call your insurance agency. They should be on your side! I think it is still her fault even if it is private property. The officer just can't ticket her. The insurance companies can tell who's fault it is by the damage done to the vehicle.

I made a pair of shorts for DS for the 4th of July.
IMG_6360.jpg

Today I cut out a pair of shorts for DD and a shirt for DD. Tomorrow I will be sewing.::yes:: I also cut out my bag for the big give.

Thank you so much for that tip. $2.00 a yard!!! What a find that will be:)

Your niece is just darling! She makes a great little model! I love the pirate shirt and the 4th shirt is great, too! How cool that you made the pattern yourself!

I still can't believe I made a pattern by myself!!!! To think, last year I made a ribbon shirt by using ironed on material. I've learned so much from you all!!! :worship:

Ok, you all are so inspiring!!!
I have been stalking the isles at JoAnn Fabrics today. :)
If I decide to take the plunge, what is the best starter sewing machine?
Thanks!

This is the sewing machine on got on Black Friday last year from Target. I'm a total beginner and it's very easy to use.

http://www.target.com/Singer-30-Sti...&page=1&AFID=Performics_DealTaker&LNM=Primary

When I got it, it even came with a DVD that taught you how to thread it, insert the bobbin, etc. That was the really helpful part! If you got it, I'd be glad to send you the CD, if I can find it.

I really like how the pirate shirt turned out looks to cute! I like the shirt much better with the fabric strip too. :)

Thanks! I agree that the fabric strip makes the shirt much better. When my brother (her dad) saw it, he was like  . He was okay with it after I put the fabric strip. :)

Here is an outfit I made today. My daughter LOVES it!!

We brought our baby home today! :lovestruc She's not used to grass and she loves rolling around on the lawn.
IMG_0730.jpg

Lily won't be able to do this much longer! :lmao:
IMG_0722.jpg

so far she is SOOOOOO good! I'm knocking on all the wood I can find, I know puppies aren't easy, but she is an angel so far. She gets tired and goes and sleeps in her crate. She has so far only "pottied" when we've had her outside. She is breaking my heart though. We bought her a little doggy teddy bear and I took it when we picked her up and rubbed it on her mommy's fur to get her scent, and Izzy (her name is Sunny Isabella but we call her Izzy, except Lily who calls her Belle--it's a princess thing I think, she can say Izzy just fine) anyhoo, Izzy can totally smell her mama and is using the bear as a pillow.
