I am working on the skirt now, but I decided to make a three ruffle skirt (each with it's own ruffle) and I do it the long way so it's taking forever! I did buy some patriotic stuff to make the kids something to wear on the 4th. Has anyone made anything for the holiday yet?

I'm planning on making the girls bandana tops. They may or may not get skirts too, I haven't decided yet.

I love this!!! My niece loves Little Mermaid! Would you mind if I CASE your idea?

Wow, you want to CASE my idea! Please be my guest. However, I can't say this was by all means original. I just added the ruffles to the capris. It was super easy and turned out cute.

We brought our baby home today! :lovestruc She's not used to grass and she loves rolling around on the lawn.

Lily won't be able to do this much longer! :lmao:

so far she is SOOOOOO good! I'm knocking on all the wood I can find, I know puppies aren't easy, but she is an angel so far. She gets tired and goes and sleeps in her crate. She has so far only "pottied" when we've had her outside. She is breaking my heart though. We bought her a little doggy teddy bear and I took it when we picked her up and rubbed it on her mommy's fur to get her scent, and Izzy (her name is Sunny Isabella but we call her Izzy, except Lily who calls her Belle--it's a princess thing I think, she can say Izzy just fine) anyhoo, Izzy can totally smell her mama and is using the bear as a pillow.

Oh, she is so cute! I just love puppies! And puppy breath, although I hate doggie breath. Cute little baby!

I'm working on the criss-cross dress pattern from YCMT for July 4th dresses for my girls. I'm afraid the fabric patterns I picked out are a little too busy but I got them on sale at Wal-Mart for $2 a yard. So both dresses including all material, thread, elastic, etc. are going to cost me around $15. Can't beat that and they'll probably only wear them once so, Oh Well!

So I posted before we are taking a trip to WDW in Sept...one of the days we are doing lunch with JoJo, Goliath, and the Little Einsteins. I found a resell on eBay, unfortunately I can't afford to buy that so I am going to attempt to make it myself. It is a tanktop with JoJo appliqued on and a skirt with the big top and Goliath. It is an absolutely adorable outfit. But since I am a self-taught I don't exactly know how to do a certain part of it. Am I allowed to post a picture of it for help purposes? I don't know who the original artist is to ask for permission because it was listed as a resell. I would even bet that the artist is a member of this family. I bought most of the fabric for the skirt today, I have everything I need to do the JoJo applique I am just so intimidated to get started because of this. :scared1: I am also wondering about doing maybe a pair of shorts or capris, my daughter insists on wearing shorts under her dresses and skirts. Tell me what you think:confused3

I hope you are feeling better Tifani!

Oh my goodness, too cute!!! I knew what it was right away!!! Great job Crystal!!!

:welcome !!!

Nana made one for Alikat's daughters.

Hey guys where are you????

I LOOOVE those!!! Our neice Casey had a Looney Tunes coat that she loved when she was about 2, and I'm pretty sure I spotted her trying to wear it this winter too! I love those ears!!!

The giraffe is so cute too!!! Fluffy and pretty!!! Great outfits!!!

You should try making somethings for your boys! :thumbsup2

That has GOT to be the funniest reason I've ever heard for cutting your child's hair!!! I would SOOOO do that too!!! She looks gorgeous though. Russell is a cutie!

WOW! That's when we start too! I can't imagine going that long! Our school district hardly EVER closes for snow days. Corey went from 2nd - 9th grade with 2 snow days! This last year though, I think we had 3. Thankfully, they were already figured into the schedule, so we didn't have to make them up.

Oh Anna, I'm so very sorry. I know you were all hoping for a different outcome. I'm glad they were able to find him though.

I agree!!!! Eeyore is my favorite!!! I just bought some Eeyore fabric, and am planning on making a sundress for Lyddy.

Very cute!

I'm glad you found out what was wrong. I'm glad she doesn't need medication or surgery.

Thank you for sharing this with us. I will pray for them both.

Oh goodness, Halie is so adorable!!! She looks like you! The tops look adorable!!!

Have a great trip Jenny!!! The shirt looks great!

Oh my goodness, that is fantastic!!!!!

Cindee, I am so glad that you and Morgan are ok!!!

How's Jord?

It looks great!

The top is so cute!! So are your daughters!

I was going to say it sounds like something isnt' threaded right! I'm glad you figured it out!

Thanks!
There is one in the bookmarks called an apron top that looks a lot like this one!

:welcome If you are going in September, you might want to wait until Walmart gets their halloween fabric in, they usually get the Minnie Dot in for $2 a yard. I'm thinking they got it in in August last year?
Thank You! This is such a great thread and everyone is so friendly...Theresajoy how do you find time to respond to everyone?!?:goodvibes ...can I get an off the topic of sewing opinion? How are the MNSSHP's? We love the P&P but they aren't having that next time we go...I know the MNSSHP is more popular so I'm scared it will be way more crowded...I think change is just hard for me:) Thanks!!!

First Welcome!!! Always glad to have new people in our group.
I recently found the Minnie Dot fabric at FabricHound.com (search under Michael Miller fabrics) and HancockFabrics.com (search for Red Dress Dot.) HTH.

Thank you so much for your help but I had no luck. They do have some but it isn't quite the version I was hunting for. But I so appreciate your help:)

I made the top and capri as a set ,the fabric is kind of thin so I made the pants wider to have a skirt like fit

I would NOT copy the picture here. It could cause some problems.

Izzy is so cute! I love little Lily carrying her around. I hope she stays good.

I am going to try the round neck sundress for mine. I am worried about the fabrics being too busy too, isn't that funny?

You can't post a picture of someone else here, but maybe we can help out. I buy little knit shorts to go under skirts for my daughter, they are less bulky than trying to make matching ones.

I just looked it up and that is cute, but I don't think anyone here made it. The skirt looks pretty straightforward, the appliques look tricky though. Holler if you need any help or encouragement!

Look at you go, those are so cute! I have tried making tops for myself but they are always too short and too tight around the armpits for some reason. I wish I could go without a pattern like you!

I used a cheap shower curtain lining to draw and cut the pattern because is plastic it gives you a better idea of the fitting and is easier to adjust than paper, I notice that if I made the elastic loose in the back it gives a better fit in the front (i also used a softer elastic for the back)

Man's Shorts

done!!!

I added a back pocket later(my husband requested it)

th_2007_06190037.jpg

took me an hour to complete!!:thumbsup2

Linnette

Wow, only an hour? :worship: I might give this a try. Thanks for the tutorial.

I made my DH some jammie's using the idea of CarlaC's pattern...they turned out great...but, they're jammies...:worried: Not sure how they'd work for men's shorts, especially since they have the elastic waist band...
they're AWESOME to make and super easy though!

I've made a couple of pairs for DS, and he wants his Dad to have a matching Star Wars pair. But that's a great idea to make Jammie pants, that way if it looks terrible it's only worn at home!! Thanks.

I guess a pic would be helpful, huh?:rotfl:

This is the one I was talking about.

Would you cut off the Tink border and attach it higher or cut off the skirt part and reattach it, making a fuller skirt?

Are there lots of different shirred fabrics like this? I've never seen them here.

Oh I hope I can find the Wall-E fabric before our upcoming trip, DS has already told me that he KNOWS he's going to love the movie!!

Here's something funny: It's DD's ballet recital this weekend so I'm making ballerina cropped pants (DD calls them "swishy pants"). And can you believe that I don't have ANY pink thread left? And DH had to work late, so I had to put the project on hold, and watch So You Think You Can Dance? instead. And now it's really late!

Bonne Nuit!

Stephanie

Those look great and comfortable. I should sew for myself, but I am always too busy sewing for everyone else.

Thank you, it does! I'll have to try again and let you know.

I finally got some pictures uploaded to photobucket, so I have some things to share!

DS(6) is in Alice in Wonderland this weekend, so I made two outfits for DD (4) to wear when we go see it...

Alice costume:
Alice.jpg

I'd like to put a white rabbit applique on the apron, but I am really not happy with the test stitch out... We'll see...

Queen of hearts dress (she won't be wearing a top underneath):

I plan to add two more rows of elastic to the back tonight - I'm hoping it will help it fit a little better. It also turned out a smidge longer than I was hoping for, but its okay...

Here's my boy's answer for the "big face" shirt! DS really likes it! It is a western style shirt...

The front is all this pattern:
