P&P Party tickets

Are the P and PP dates 2009 the ones that we have seen posted around? Has Disney actually published the dates anywhere yet?

the CM i spoke with last night told me there would be one during my stay on May 25.

I was looking at the hours posted on disneyworld.com and noticed that all of the days that are listed on allears as being P&PP dates have suddenly changed hours and are now listed as closing at normal closing time and not at 7:00. Anyone have any ifo on this? Do you think that it means that they have decided to not have the parties?

Oh no! I just checked and April 1st (when I had hoped to attend P&PP) is now listed as closing at 9pm.

I still have my fingers crossed, but I am afraid of what that time change could mean. How disappointing :sad2:

Well, I am still awaiting a reply to my question about MP&PP in 2009 - apart from the generic "thanks for your email" message I received last Friday!

It certainly doesn't seem promising now that both the MP&PP page has been removed from WDW's official website and the times have been changed for the previously but unofficially announced dates! :sad2:

However, it is still advertised on Disney's Wide World of Sports website as an option for attendees of the Princess Half Marathon Weekend. This is being held March 6-8 2009, but having just checked the calendar, none of these dates are showing as a 7pm closing. :confused3 See extract below:

I just checked the Disney web-site for the date I was hoping for (Feb, 27th) and I see that not only has the park closing time been changed from 7pm to 8pm, they added Wishes and Spectromagic to that day's events (before, with a park closing of 7pm, they only had the 3:00 parade listed).

I guess this means there will definately be no party that night:mad: - unless they change their minds again!

Oh Phooey! The April 22 day went from a 7pm closing to a 9pm closing. This doesn't look good.

I saw that as well but for that date, they also changed the park hours - closing is now at 8 and they've added Wishes on at 8:00. I'm wondering if that means that that one is cancelled as well??

I do not get it...not only have all those changed but dates previously in January with no parties have been changed, Hours have been slashed in January and now I am so disappointed. I have less hours for my Jan trip at the parks and and a possibility of no PPP!!!!!

:headache: not today. better check the 1st of April on the calendar after reading those posts.

This is a glass half-empty/half-full situation. Hours got cut because they are expecting many fewer guests overall, not just to be mean. On balance, this is probably good news for guests (but bad news for Disney).

April 1st is a 9:00. With Wishes scheduled! I sure hope this doesn't mean I have been calling all this time for nothing!!:furious:

Honestly, I do not believe the parks will have less attendance. I know that is what we like, but it seems that lately the parks have been filling more because there are less hours to spread crowds out in. I have a feeling that in January (Martin Luther King weekend) I am going to have lines and crowds, because of the codes and discounts, plus the holiday weekend, and now LESS HOURS!!!!

No, that's just not how this works. Park hours are driven by expected crowds---Disney doesn't extend the operating day to be nice, they extend the operating day because they have to to handle the number of people they think are coming.

Attendance was already down about 1% from the most recently completed quarter, and that was before the worst of the economic news really sunk in. Advance bookings for the quarter starting in January were down 10% before the promotion was announced, which is a really big number.

And, it's important to remember the real job of a promotion: it's not necessarily to get more people in total to come to orlando. It's also to get people to book a more expensive room than they might otherwise have booked, or to book onsite if they might normally have stayed off. A travel agent friend of mine told me that of the bookings she did in the first week or so of the 7-for-4 promotion, almost all were guests with established bookings upgrading their resort. Only a few were new bookings. Only one just took the discount on what they had already booked.

To me, the President's Week hours tell the story convincingly. Those are the shortest they have ever been since I've been coming in February in 2005. You have to go back to 2003 (which was still seeing effects of the post-9/11 travel crash) to find a time when MK had shorter hours that week, and even that's arguable.
