We won a pair of tickets to see a sneak preview of Oz. Fun movie. I enjoyed it. Can't say that I loved it, though. There's a lot of humor in the movie, but the scary scenes aren't all that frightening. It drags in a couple of places. It was definitely modelled after the Judy Garland movie. The special effects are great in 3D.

Overall it was an enjoyable movie. But if you were expecting greatness, you are going to be disappointed.

We're easy to please, if the scenery and CGI effects are good, we'll be happy. I did read the storyline was a little weak as was the acting.

Did you by happen see Jack the Giant Slayer? If so, how does Oz compare?

We saw it tonight also and I think the OP's review is on target. I think it needed some tightening, but overall is fun and worth seeing. We enjoyed the homages to the original film.

We're just getting back from seeing it. Hubby fell asleep during it but I loved it.

What helped me though I think was that I read somewhere where someone used the word "campy"..........and it was quite campy in parts! I think knowing that and hearing beforehand that it was far less serious than the original movie AND that it wasn't about the Dorothy era really helped me *get* it more than hubby did. This was a prequel and I totally enjoyed it (and ADORED all the little tweaks...nope, no spoiler here! LOL)

Hubby gave it a 2 but only because he caught a little cat nap. He said the nap got the most of that 2 points. :rotfl:

I give the movie a 8+ and would have gone higher but I do have a few odd gripes/annoyances about several parts in the movie. :p

I'm really sad to hear the mixed reviews. I wanted this movie to be wonderful in hopes there would be more OZ films

My family REALLY enjoyed it. I thought it was very cute and entertaining and the 2 hours and 11 minutes really flew by.

The little China Doll was my favorite.

Took my dd to see it today. I didn't care for it, but she loved it. The movie really dragged in a lot of places. I also didn't care for the reason she became wicked.

Frankly, I was surprised I liked it as much as I did. I thought it was great and I was expecting much less.

We went to see it tonight and I really liked it. I didn't love it, but it cute and it had a good story to it. The first part was boring but needed I guess, but the rest if it was good.

I enjoyed it, but it's not something I think I'd purchase. I was a little let down, but it's my own fault because I've been excited about this one for a while.

It wasn't bad, and I definitely laughed a lot. DB was cracking up the whole time and really liked it a lot. I just felt that they put to much effort into visual effects, and not enough into the storyline or dialogue.

Also, I didn't see the 3D version, so I'm sure it's more impressive if you do.
