How does this work? My home resort is Saratoga Springs, and if I was lucky enough to pick-up a resale at Beach Club or Boardwalk, do they both become my home resort? Also, are the points for each location kept separate when making reservations?

Thanks for any advice.

Yes, you would two "Home Resorts" in that case. The points owned at each resort could be used 11 months ahead to reserve at that resort and the combined points could be used at any DVC resort 7 months ahead.

Such an add-on would have the same Use Year as your current contract.

Enjoy!

get at least 60 points at BCV - enough for a studio 5 days in offseaon.

for BWV you only need 50 points- standard view points are less.

We just had our first stay at BWV's and we LOVED it. It was in a studio. I can't wait for our one bedroom stay in May. I was surprised at how much I loved being on the Boardwalk.

I'm sure Doc will correct me if I'm wrong, but if you purchase your add-on through Disney, it will have the same use year. If you purchase a resale, it will retain its own use year, which may or may not match. It would also have a separate contract/membership number assigned. At least that's the way it's worked for us.

Add-on-itis is very dangerous! We purchased most of our point before we made it to Florida, and continued to add after our first visit. I think we've finally got it under control.... :joker:

We have added on resale and through Disney. We have always bought the same UY. When we bought resale, we told the broker that we already were members and we would want this added on the the Disney contract we already had. In our case, that has always happened, so I think that mentioning it to the broker or even DVC itself would help. We have 1 major contract, with 6 add ons, and we own at 3 resorts.

If you add on more than 150 points, Disney will sell you a different UY if you want it because of your travel dates.

I still don't understand the multiple resort ownership thing. :confused3 Unless you own enough points at each to book your trips at 11 months. Because if you only own 50 points at BCV and want to book there for F&W, you would only be able to book 50 points worth of days at 11 months and then have to wait for the 7 month window to extend your stay with the other points. I guess its a way to get your foot in the door at other resorts....is this basically how its used. A 50 point add on won't let you book a week stay anywhere.......at 11 months.

see-that was my issue-I really, really wanted to add at BWV but I wouldn't have had enough points at 11 months out to make a good reservation. So I just bought more at my original resort (SS) so I would have lots of points to use at the same time.

actually that 50 pts is really 150 with banking and borrowing :thumbsup2

I small contract at another resort could be used for every other yr trip :goodvibes

Yes, it's true that you can't do much with the 25 or 50 point add ons, unless you really do bank and borrow. You save those points for use at the resorts you know you want and are hard to get into at 7 months.

Plus, lots of people here do use studios. Spicy says that 60BCV or 50BWV will get you 5 weekday nights in low point season. If you save the points even for just 2 years, 120BCV or 100BWV can get you a stay you may enjoy more.

We began with just 50 VWL points, and now have 150 there. Small increments are easier to afford.

Just to explain banking/borrowing and multiple home resorts, it would work like this:

Suppose you own 75 points each at OKW and BWV

It would work like this:

Year 1: Borrow your year 2 OKW points, and make a 150 point OKW reservation at 11-months. Bank your BWV points into year 2.

Year 2: You receive no OKW points since you had borrowed them the previous year. You get 75 BWV points which along with the 75 you banked from year 1, gives you 150 BWV points which you use to make a 150 point BWV reservation at 11-months.

Year 3. Repeat year 1's usage., etc.

In this scenario, every other year you would be at OKW, then BWV.

Now, if you had more than two home resorts, you bank/borrow as needed. Keep in mind that with banking/borrowing, you basically have triple your points once every 3 years. So if you had 3 resorts of 50 points each, every 3rd year you could have 150 points at a specific home resort. Say you also had 50 VWL points, and 50 OKW and 50 BWV

You want to use your VWL points in year 2, so in year 1 bank them. Year 2, take that year's allocation of 50, plus the 50 previously banked (total 100), and borrow the next year's, for a new total of 150. Make an 11-month reservation at VWL.

You would do the same with OKW and BWV, so that every 3rd year you're at one of your 3 resorts, alternating each year.

It would take a little bit of balancing the first few years, but eventually you'd have it worked so one year it's 150 points at OKW, the next year it's 150 points at BWV, and the 3rd year it's 150 points at VWL. This pattern would then repeat.

Hope that helps.
