Owners Locker

Found this in a search trying to decide if OL is for us. I decided that since we have 3 trips planned this year, we will give it a go! Thanks to everyone for listing what you pack...it really helped me understand the benefits!

It's really hard to describe the convenience of having an OL. I hope you are as happy with yours as the rest of us are with ours. :goodvibes

We just got back from 3 weeks at xmas, while there we ordered another thats 4 now, the convenience factor is so worth the cost (we are from UK),

and the service is second to none.:):)

Having an OL has saved me 2 hours of packing and allowed us to leave our medium-sized suitcase home  I can now pack for the 3 of using just one large suitcase & a couple of carry-on backpacks.

We keep full-sized toiletries and laundry items, ponchos, travel umbrellas, a brita, a pop-up hamper, meds, ziplocs & a sharpie in our OL - all things we used to pack but no longer have :cool1:

We love ours too. Now when we travel, we only pack a small carry on for the five of us. Everything else we need for a Disney trip is in the OL. Getting through the airport is a breeze.

We love our OL, too! I love to keep a spare pair of slip ons for the room and a spare pair of sandals. We usually go in Feb. so the weather can be cool or warm. We leave the ponchos we only use at WDW. Just think of things you are always carrying back and forth to WDW and you don't use anywhere else. Also think of the "I wish I had my ______ here" and that's what you leave in your locker!

If only packing for non-Disney trips could be as easy as packing for my Owners Locker trips! I HATE PACKING AND UNPACKING. Consequently, I LOVE :lovestruc my 3 Lockers!

Quick question....do you pay the membership fee plus the standard and premium plan at once, or do you pay the membership fee and then after a year pick the standard or premium plan....sorry if I seem dense! I am super tired of checking 2 extra bags, I would love to just have carry-ons.

Melissa

We only have one locker, for now, we keep all of our toiletries in it along with pins, autograph books, coffee and britta pitchers. I planning to add one or two fold up step stools so the kids can reach the sinks in the bathrooms and kitchen.

You pay the membership fee first. Then for the plan, from their website:

your credit card will not be billed until your Locker comes back into our warehouse after your initial Visit. This date will become your Anniversary Date and your credit card will be charged each year on this date for the Annual Plan you have chosen.

You pay the membership fee 30 days in advance of your first visit (or when you order if less) then the annual fee is charged when your locker returns to the warehouse for the first time.

You pick your plan when you order your locker - premium makes sense only if you will visit more than 4 times in the year. The standard plan is $99 and includes one visit - extra visits are $25.

Just used Owners Locker for first time and am pleased so far. (Of course, immediately upon returning from WDW vacation, I decided to apply for a Delta Amex credit card that allows one free checked bag, thereby weakening one of the perks of an OL)
Quick observations on OL:
1. Its pretty big, but I still struggled to get everything in one. I will spend some quality time reconfiguring the items on my next trip. It takes some work to know where everything should be packed...

2. Does anyone know how to securely close the darn thing when you leave? Yes, I can always just hope that bell services doesn't tip it over. If they do, the lid isn't "secure" and all my stuff will come tumbling out. They secure it when it is delivered...why not have that option available to us when we have it picked back up?
Any ideas out there of what people use to secure it? I'm honestly considering duct taping the handle closed...

We use our OL AS our step stool.... our kids are light, though.

I think you missed the secure cable ties that are tucked into the plastic pocket on the end of the locker. There are 4 of them. Hopefully the OL guys will put them on for you.

You must have missed it -- there is a plastic pouch on the outside of the locker. Every time they deliver the locker to you, they'll put several plastic zip-tie seals in this pouch for you to seal the locker when you return it.

they must know "my" type... I end up screwing up at least one!!

One side if the lid has hooks that hooks on to the side of the locker - it is marked 'this side first' or something similar. It hooks on and then folds down and the other side should line up to be sealed with 2 of the black seals provided.

That would be me as well....John, if you're reading this, no laughing at me!!! I always manage to get the first one on upsidedown and backwards..so to speak!!!

I love my OL. I've had one for years. I keep full sized toiletries in it, as well as a few changes of clothes...especially those things that you only tend to wear at WDW!!! I have plates/cups since we stay in studios for the most part and hate paper stuff. I have some metal cutlery as well. Extra sandals and water shoes. Themed beach towels.
I find that I pack a lot less when traveling to WDW since I have my OL.
And as someone already said.....those Tuesday evenings are wonderful. Looking forward to one in May!!!!

So there ARE ties that come with the Locker! I honestly did not see them...and I looked over the box pretty well. Better look harder next time.

thanks everyone!

....practice, practice, practice.....

...only kidding.

The lids to the Lockers do take some getting used to. One end of the lid has built-in tabs that fit under the lip of the Locker itself. These tabs mean you don't have to put seals on that end of the Locker.

Having said that, it can be annoyingly difficult to put the lid on so that the tabs do their job properly. Once you get the hang of it, you'll appreciate just how clever the design is (I had NOTHING to do with the design...a fantastic company in Miami came up with it) but the first few times putting the lid on can be a challenge.

Now, with one end of the lid hooked to the Locker with the tabs, the other end can be closed and sealed using one or two of the four seals we always include with each delivery.

Let me pause here and say that if the Locker is being used properly, it may take two people to seal the Locker...one person to sit on it to hold the lid down while the other puts the seals on....

There is a small, clear plastic pouch on the outside of the back of the Locker into which we put four numbered, black, breakable seals with each delivery. Just slip the pointed end of the seal into the slots in the lip and then thread this pointed end into the body of the seal (looks like mouse ears, interestingly) that does NOT have the printed number on it. Sometimes it can be difficult to get the pointed ended started but once you do, just snug it up like you would a zip tie.

Also, keep in mind that the bell services desks have extra seals if you need them.....
