Over the River and Through the Woods to Mickey's House We Go! And Grandma is in Tow!

About Soarin...I am not afraid of heights and loved roller caosters when I was young...BUT I had a real hard time on Soarin...I didn't like how my feet just dangled and felt I was falling...but it might be my bifocals so your Mom might not like it either. I will definetly skip it in Jan on our trip!!!!

I'm glad your homemade detergent worked! :thumbsup2
Not so sure if my DH would "allow" that. He's not big into "hippies" :hippie:. I wouldn't be able to sneak that one past him, either...

Great Electric Umbrella stories! How could you not go back for more?!?!

Those were great & after a day like today I needed a laugh!!!

I laugh about it now but when they were happening....not so much.;)

Of course we want the recipe. If it can get the smell of "cows" out of my DH's clothes it would be a miracle!

I posted the recipe. Maybe it'll get the "cow" out of his clothes.

Those are some great stories! What eventful meals you have there.

Thanks for the laundry detergent recipe!

Yep, they were quite eventful to say the least.

Let me know if you try the laundry detergent. It worked for me.

Probably the same way my bunch manages to constantly sling the toothpaste all over the bathroom counter! :rotfl:

AND, by the way you are too smart for making your own laundry detergent! :thumbsup2

:rotfl2: Same thing happened to us at Wilderness Lodge while we were eating our breakfast outside one morning.

John's work clothes look like he doesn't have a dollar to his name. I always tell everybody that he cleans up well.

The way I looked at the laundry detergent was that it didn't cost me much money to make so if I didn't like it or it didn't work well, it didn't break the bank.

The birds at Disney can be quite aggressive!

Cross Electric Umbrella off my list due to scary winged creatures that don't take no for an answer! And after reading part of the TR I am even more convinced that we will get along great!!

We still eat at Electric Umbrella, just not outside!

Glad to know that you won't be running away when you spot us approaching the Dis meet group.:lmao:

Your Electric Umbrella stories are:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Aren't we the craziest people ever? I mean, I couldn't make up those kind of stories if I tried.

Mama should handle the heights and the dangling feel okay. But, I wonder about the trifocals and the IMAX feel to it.

It would be kinda hard to hide a 5 gallon bucket of homemade laundry detergent, that's for sure. :rolleyes1

We go back to Electric Umbrella each trip. But we ain't eatin' outside!:rotfl:

What a crazy bird!!!!!!!! :rotfl: They do get a little aggressive, but I have never seen one like that. Thanks for the detergent recipe. I love the shirts you found, too. :thumbsup2

Wow - you've been busy since I last visited your PTR. I'm so happy your washing machine problem was easily fixed. I feel your pain for the flooding situation. I came home from a trip to find my kitchen, office, and pantry in about 1.5" of water. The hot water heater pipe had burst & water had filled the area - luckily it looked like it had started just a bit before we got home, so it could have been a lot worse. Thank goodness it was all tile flooring & an old house - the floor tilted slightly toward the back door, so the water didn't spread to the rest of the house! I never thought I'd be happy that the floor was tilting before. :lmao: All I had to do was open the back door & use my QVC wonder broom (you know the ones made of purple rubber they sold back in the 90's?) to sweep out the water & then dry the floor with an industrial fan my neighbor let me borrow. The good news was that once the water was cleared out, it was the cleanest my floors had looked in a long time!

Your Electric Umbrella stories are so funny! I'm sure it was no fun at the time to lose your tooth. I would have been hysterical (and not in a a ha-ha way) if that had happened to me. I hate anything having to do with dental work. That bird sounds like one that attacked our food at the Mexican Counter Service restaurant. Those critters get brave!

Your Epcot plans sound great. I hope your mama can take Soarin's IMAX-like feeling. That's one of my favorite rides.

I've made that homemade laundry detergent before! It works really well. Since I'm an aromatherapist (didn't know that, didja?) I like to add essential oils to mine just before using. For bath & kitchen towels, I like to use a lavendar, tea tree, and lemon oil mix. It gets them really clean smelling (not too girly, either), plus those oils are all very anti-microbial/antibacterial, so I know the towels are clean. It takes just 1-2 drops of each to do a whole load. For my outside gardening clothes, I like to use some oils that ward off bugs. It really works & is better than using all that Deet. The bugs smell the clothing & leave you alone. :thumbsup2 I'm sure Bridora's DH would peg me as a Hippie :hippie: with all the homemade, chemical free stuff I make & use. ;) That's ok with me - and I've got the hippie name to boot! :rotfl:

Looking forward to more of your plans.

Dawn, your post just reminded me that I have some oils that I used to use when making homemade soaps for gifts. Those would probably work well in my homemade laundry detergent. If I can't find them, I'll make a run to Hobby Lobby and get some more. I think I may even have a Hobby Lobby coupon to use.

Don't you just hate when something unexpected like a busted hot water heater or an overflowing washing machine happen. Like you said though, my floor is cleaner, that's for sure.

The bird was definitely an aggressive booger to say the least. We were swiping away at him and he wasn't letting go!

I find myself buying more shirts than shorts and then wondering what the heck to pair them up with. Oh well, another reason I need to go shopping for more shorts.:rolleyes1

I love your Electric Umbrella stories :thumbsup2. We like to eat there too. On our first trip we ate there and now, every time we eat there, it reminds me of that first trip. I can't believe that was 11 years ago :scared1:.

If you have a Hobby Lobby coupon, what are you waiting for, girl? If I had a HL coupon, I'd be dangerous! :rotfl:

Yep, I would think oils for soaps would be okay in laundry detergent. Just be sure not to use the ones they sell to fragrance candles. I had a friend who did that & she had an oily residue on her clothes. Didn't notice it until she had set the stains by drying them.

Yep, those are the kind of unexpected events I could use fewer of, that's for sure. But, hey, if it saves me from scrubbing the floors...:rolleyes1

Ahhhhhh Disney memories!:rotfl:

Our first trip to Disney was 12 years ago this May. Who ever knew that we'd fall totally in love with Disney World?

Yep, those are the kind of unexpected events I could use fewer of, that's for sure. But, hey, if it saves me from scrubbing the floors...:rolleyes1

I would have preferred to scrub my floors the traditional/non-flood kinda way.

Hopefully, our lunch at the Electric Umbrella will be calm and forgetful given the events of our last couple of trips there.

We'll just have to wait and see what time it is before we decide what to do next. I know that we are having the MAYhem With The Mouse Dis Meet at 2:30 p.m.! I can't tell ya'll how excited I am. In all of my time on the Disboards, I've only seen two Disers. Can you believe that?

I don't even know if all of us have decided where the Dis Meet is supposed to take place. I think there were a couple of suggestions but I don't think we had anything confirmed. HEY EVERYBODY! Where's the Dis Meet?

We do need to come up with a location still don't we? I can't wait for the meet. It is going to be so great to meet everyone! Hope you had a good weekend!! :goodvibes

Aw, man! I always seem to miss the Dis meets by a few weeks. I sure wish I was going the same time as ya'll - I'd love to meet some fellow dis'ers. In all my time on the Dis, I've only met 1 other Dis'er and that was a sort of drive-by meeting.

Oh, well - ya'll will just have to try to have fun without me. I know it'll be a challenge. :rolleyes1

I hope everybody had a good weekend. We were pretty lazy and didn't do too much. I picked Hunter up from school Friday afternoon and we went to get his eyeglasses adjusted. I was sick and tired of seeing them slipping down his nose. I also bought some snapdragons to plant in pots and hanging baskets. I couldn't believe it when I left WalMart with only four packs of flowers, a bag of potting soil and a People magazine. Good for me!

John's cell phone has been acting horrible lately. Any time somebody would call him, you couldn't hear anything but scratching sounds and then it would sound like he was in a hole. I told him when he bought that Razor phone that I had heard people complain about it. But, nooooo, he liked it and he wanted it. From the minute we got it, I could tell he didn't like it but didn't want to say anything for fear I'd say "I told you so."

Friday evening, we ran over to the Verizon store to see if we could get it fixed or just replace it. We just bought the stupid thing before we went to Disney World last August. Of course, we had no insurance on it and it wasn't under warranty any more. The guy looked up our account and said since we had originally purchased the plan through Alltel (who Verizon bought out), we could all get an upgraded phone with no upgrade charges. We would have to each buy a new phone though. Problem was, Lacey would be without a phone for several days which I didn't like.

I called Lacey from the Verizon store knowing that I wouldn't be able to reach her. She was in Knoxville, Tennessee in a conference with about 12,000 other people. When we couldn't reach her, we told the guy that we'd be back in the morning as we were sure she'd respond to a text I sent her. I wanted to make sure that the salesman got a commission from the sale.

Unless we are busy, we try to have a family movie night each week. This weekend, we had it on Friday night. I bought Old Dogs when it came out on DVD and didn't tell John or Hunter that I had. Mama came over and we watched it together. We had already seen it but it was worth seeing again. Oh my gosh, it was funnnnny!

Saturday morning, John and I got up and went to the Verizon store. Hunter was still in the bed asleep and there was no need to wake him. I called Mama (remember she lives next door and can keep a watch on the house) and told her we were going and that we would be back in just a little while as it takes less than 10 minutes to get to Verizon.

We walked in the Verizon store at 9:14 a.m. and we were the only customers. The guy was there and he was super nice but, to put it quite bluntly, he didn't know his but from a hole in the ground. (spelling it wrong on purpose because I thought it might get *** out). It took the guy nearly two hours to switch the account. It was all I could do to keep smiling. At 10:58 a.m., we walked out of the store mad and $263.00 poorer than when we walked in. Oh well, at least John has a phone that works now. I have to mail Lacey's to her and plan on doing that tomorrow.

After we got back, Mama and I drove to an outlet mall that's about 45 minutes from our house. She wanted to look for another pair of capris, a top for the luau and something new to wear to church. I wanted to look for more shorts and some new undies.

I found a pair of pink shorts, two pair of denim shorts and a pair of dark khaki shorts. I don't know if denim shorts are even still "in" but they felt so comfortable that I decided I really needed them. I also found a cute pink top, a pair of undies and a new white bra. Okay, so that was probably more than you wanted to know about the undies and bra but I've already typed it and am too lazy to take it back out. :lmao: My total? $41 and something cents. Can you believe it?:yay:

Mama didn't find any capris or a luau shirt in the first store but did find some undies for herself. Again, probaby TMI. :rotfl:

On we went to the second store, Bonworth, where they sell what Mama refers to as "old lady clothes". They have a few cute things in there but most everything has some kind of stitched design on it and I didn't like most of them. All of the pants have elastic waists. The prices were pretty high too for what you were getting. Maybe, I'm too cheap.:confused3 Anyway, it's probably mean of me to say but I was happy when she didn't buy anything in that store. I don't want my Mama looking like a hip young teenager but I don't want her looking like old woman either.

While the shopping trip wasn't a success for my Mama, it was for me as I was glad to have the new shorts.

It was either last Wednesday or Thursday, I started getting a headache. We figured it was because all of the trees and flowers are starting to bud out around here and that stirs up our allergies like crazy. Well, over the course of the weekend, the headache got progressively worse. By Saturday evening, it was really bad. Bad to the point where I felt like puking and I was seeing little floaty things in my eyes. MIGRAINE!:headache:

Sunday morning came (an hour early thanks to Daylight Savings Time) and I still had a headache. We decided to skip church and sleep in to see if the extra sleep would help. It did, a little but not much. The weather was absolutely beautiful so we went outside to sit on the porch and soak up the sun. I planted the snapdragons in the hanging baskets and pots. Hunter shot his airsoft gun and played with the dog. John pulled up a chair and sat with me. Once the plants were potted, I laid down in the porch swing with my feet up. I was beginning to think that my head was hurting so bad that my blood pressure was going up or vice versa.

I'm one of those kind of people that doesn't do well with just lazing around so we made bets on who could hit the target the most with Hunter's airsoft gun. Hunter won! Next, Hunter brought out his bow and arrow. We filled up an empty gallon container with water to use as a target. Hunter practiced a while and finally hit it. I decided to give it a try. First shot...far away. Second shot....almost hit it. Third shot....I pulled way back and let go. Don't ask me how but my hand came back and I hit myself in the nose. You know how they say you see stars? Well, I was seeing stars, the sun, the moon and all the planets. It hurt like heck! Of course, the first thing John and Hunter do is laugh. Then, they realized that I really hurt myself. That's not to say that they quit laughing but they did keep it down to snickers and came over to see about me.

This morning, I had to cover up the bruised mark on the bridge of my nose. Around 10:00 or so this morning, I walked by a mirror and saw that I am a little red under my eye. My nose is still sore too. At least I don't have a full-on black eye.

So, now I have a hurt nose AND a nagging headache. Should have just got up and gone to church!

I'm excited about the Dis meet too. I think it will be so much fun . I know it was last year. I can't wait to get back to Disney, it seems like it has been way too long.
