Over the river and through the FUN!

Oh poor MeMom, you seemed to have picked up something nasty. Sore throats are awful. :flower3:

Hope you are resting and can recover fast so you can get ready for your trip.

The weekend is almost here and then its only a few more days until you are strolling down Main Street. :woohoo:

Feel free to take as many pics as your camera will let you. ;)

First off, I must state my preference for Figment over Barney -- some purple guys do have an edge. :lmao: :figment:

Jarvis trying Beverly is hilarious!!! :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2: I so needed that laugh after grading essays all day.

Was Brooklyn scared of the Monkey King or just uninterested?

I replied to LL's trip, and it poofed, too. I scrolled through it later and realized I had disappeared.

It happened to me over there too. :confused3 Very strange!

If I were Brooklynn's age, I don't think I'd like the Monkey King either. Only difference is, I'd probably cry. :rotfl2:

Oh how your stories and pictures make me wish I was in Epcot!!:thumbsup2 I absolutely love Jarvis' reaction to the Beverly!! :lmao: I tried that on DBFF but she liked it!! Figures, she's weird...anyhow, I also love Brooklyn's fashion statement with the Figment hat! Fabulous! ;) I love the Holiday storytellers! I don't think I managed to get any pictures during their speeches so thanks for sharing!

Also MeMom, I hope that knowing you'll soon be in Disney gets you feeling better! :goodvibes We need you in tiptop shape! And for the pancake party, I would like plain pancakes please! ;) :) I guess I'll bring the authentic Canadian maple syrup!

I'm so happy to read that you are feeling better, I hope your voice returns soon and everything gets back to normal for your trip! :goodvibes

I love the pics of Brooklyn's faces. The "mad" face is my favorite! :rotfl:

I also love the pic of her with the Figment hat on, so adorable. Jarvis' reaction to the Beverly is priceless! I bet you were all laughing!

Hope you are feeling better, and the day of rest gives you the energy to teach the next two days. Remember next week will be filled with pixie dust.

Great pictures of the storytellers. They made me want to go back this Christmas to watch again first hand.

Luckily, I only have to teach one more day. The kids are out Friday, and we have an in-service day.

I've seen and heard most all of the Christmas storytellers now, I think. Some I've seen more than once. I'll have to go through the official list and see which ones I still need to get to. Hopefully, if we get to go after Christmas this year, I'll make it a point to finish out the list.

Tell Brookie that I love the Nemo ride too! I always sing along..."Big Blue World...."

She loves that ride! We know 'Big Blue World', very well.

I have the sweetest message saved on my voice mail from our November trip. I had gone out early to take pictures, and Jill called to let me know they were ready to meet. She let Brooklynn do the talking.

It goes like this:

Jill is in the background coaching Brooklynn, and Brooklynn is repeating into the phone.

Jill: Where are you, MeMom?
Brook: Where aah you, MeMom?
Jill: We're on our way to the bus stop.
Brook: We're on our way to da bus stop.
Jill: Going to Epcot.
Brook: Go to Epcot. Ride Nemo!

Notice Brooklynn took a little liberty with the last sentence!
She knew what Epcot meant. Epcot = Nemo, of course.

Her little voice is so sweet, and just hearing the excitement in her voice that she was headed to ride Nemo just made me smile. I have that message saved, and when I need a Brooklynn fix, I listen to it and smile all over again.

I just loveeee Epcot and your pictures just make me love it even more!

Christmas around the world looks so amazing. Brooklynn really just loved that Chinese story teller didn't she? :rotfl: And you guys are too sweet to initiate Jarvis like that, I'm sure he really appreciated it ;)

Hope you're feeling a little better MeMom, get rid of that cold before next week!! :goodvibes

There is so much to photograph in Epcot. I want to spend much more time there and see every backstreet and corner, because it's all so detailed.

Well, Jarvis is still hanging around, and he says he's going back with us again, so I guess he's forgiven us.

Just reading next Friday makes me excited, and I am not even going!

When will you find out about switching grades?

It is starting to sink in, but every time I allow myself to get excited about it, I also have a twinge of sadness. I know that I will think of Jill and Brooklynn at every turn. I will have to be a nice friend and keep my mouth shut, not saying, "Jill/Brooklynn, loves this ride!" or "this is Jill/Brooklynn's favorite place to eat/shop/play/whatever." Disney World and those girls are so intertwined to me, that I will have to work at not saying what I'm thinking, because I will be thinking of them!

It started with fever, then sore throat, then lost voice, and now chest congestion. I noticed my voice was coming back last night when I answered the phone at 9:22 last night when Trent called. I hadn't talked in several hours, since he was gone and Drew was at school, so it surprised me when I said, "Hello,' and it was a little more than a whisper. :) My throat is still a little sore, but not as bad as it was. I don't get sick very often, and when I do, it normally doesn't last long, although I have had a couple of times that a persistent cough held on for about a month, and that was annoying!

Anyway, I don't stress over being sick or worry about it changing any of my plans, because normally my 'sicks' are pretty short and manageable.

Was Brooklyn scared of the Monkey King or just uninterested?

I think she was a little afraid and maybe intimidated by the thunderous way he strolled in. In the past six months or so, she has become more familiar with the concept of fear, and that's a healthy thing. She's not overly fearful by a long stretch, but she's more cautious as she gets older. I guess introducing her to all those Disney characters as she was young just made her think you just hugged anybody with fur or a big head or a costume, and she completely accepted that. As she's gotten older, she's forming her own opinions a little more about who she'll hug or hold hands with, and it's interesting to see that development in her. Kids are fascinating to me!

It happened to me over there too. :confused3 Very strange!

If I were Brooklynn's age, I don't think I'd like the Monkey King either. Only difference is, I'd probably cry. :rotfl2:

She didn't cry or even vocalize in any way that she didn't like him or was scared of him. She simply put the cover down and sat there quietly. I would love to know what she was thinking in her little mind.

I'll be 100% ready to go next week! I wouldn't let a little cold stop me.

Real maple syrup from Canada? I would love that!!!

My voice is returning. I hope it holds out through the school day. I think it's better now, but it may not be as loud as I think it is when I'm in the classroom with all the kids.

I guess I better start my packing, huh? First, I have to concentrate on tying up loose ends at school, and when all that is done, I will be totally focused on getting ready for next week.

Confession: We did laugh.

Have a good day at school today, hope your voice is better.:teacher:

I'll give it a 'test drive' today and hope for the best!

Thanks for all the well wishes. The fever is gone, so the rest of it is just more of an annoyance than anything. I can work with cough and little voice, but I couldn't be around the kids with a fever. My little Chinese girl had gone home the other morning with a high fever, so I guess maybe she was just sharing with me!

I only have to teach one day, and the kids are finished, so this is a Friday for them. They will be pretty crazy, knowing they have a whole week plus ahead of them.
Oughta be a fun day!

Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better! I hope the kiddos take it easy on you today.

The pics of Brooklynn are so cute.

I'm sorry you ended up not feeling well but happy to read you are recovering nicely.

I like the little holiday recipe on the sunshine seasons tree. It is a nice place to eat because it is so large and has a great variety for lots of different tastes.

You got great pictures of Jarvis tasting the beverly. His reaction was very funny. The beverly was the one thing my son wanted to try at disney. I told him about club cool and he really wanted to taste test.

I hope you have a great day and get all caught up at school.

Tammy

Hi MeMom, glad you are feeling better!
Those were great Epcot pics - I too love the one of Jarvis drinking the Beverley. I've not seen that many piccies of Beverley reactions but that is DEFINITELY the best!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our antenatal class was great - I came away feeling very positive about everything and am now keen to explore a waterbirth!

We went to hospital last night as baby Angus hadn't moved much in the last 2 days, but we had him checked over and all is well. He has made up for it this morning!

3 more weeks at work, 6 more weeks until my due date!

Poor Jarvis! :rotfl:
So glad to hear that you're feeling a little better. I guess you could look at it as good thing it happened this week and not next.

Glad to hear your on the mend!

I need some pixie dust today....
I just found out that our school board has decided to start the upcoming school year on Sept.1 instead of Sept.7. as previously decided. :scared1:

Our plans were to go from Aug.23 to Sept.2 for 10 nights w/free dining.

I have three options as I see it:
1. Move the trip up and then there's no free dinning. (Whole purpose for going in late August) :sad2:
2. Shorten the trip to 7 nights (really,really wanted 10 nights):sad1:
3. Keep the trip the same dates (my kids would miss the first few days of school) :guilty:

I really don't want them to miss the first days of school, even though the schools said it wouldn't be a problem.

I'll just have to sit and try to be patient waiting for the free dining dates to be announced. Maybe there's a small chance they will start the dates earlier this year, that would be wonderful news.

Okay DIS friends, what's your advice. I'm a little freaked out. :headache:

My DMom just said to tell MeMom she was thinking of you the other day. On the news it was saying that Obama said he was going to increase pay for good teachers and get rid of the bad ones. :goodvibes My DMom says to not let the testing bother you, it will only verify how good a teacher your are.

(LOL, it seems like she does listen to me when I chatter on about the people here on the DIS.) She even knew your name.

Glad your feeling better. :flower3:

Will that get me my present back?

Thanks.

You have until Tuesday night to prove yourself present worthy.
Keep it coming, and I'll let you know then. ;)

I really will send Declan a card or anything else (hat etc.), if you'd like me to, from whatever Disney friend he likes best, or just from WDW in general, letting him know how glad they are that he's coming back in August. Just let me know.

Glad you are feeling better!

What is up with disappearing posts on my PTR? :confused3

I don't know. Have you been using some kind of vanishing cream over there??? I posted and submitted and went on. Then I checked back later, and I wasn't there. If it happened to Megablocks, too, I guess there was just some kind of temporary glitch in the system or something.

Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better! I hope the kiddos take it easy on you today.

I have much of my voice back, but it really wasn't good for me to talk all day at school. My throat is sore again. But...the kids are finished, so I won't have to talk tomorrow. We normally have after-school tutoring on Thursdays, but they cancelled it today due to the sleet and snow that was falling. They wanted to get the kids on home. I was glad, because the days do seem longer when you're kind of weakened, and the kids were nuts anyway, knowing they were out for a week.

Definitely feeling better than yesterday. Thanks.

I don't see how anybody could think Beverly tastes good, and I can't imagine paying for it!

Three weeks of work might drag along, but the three weeks as home will probably fly by! I'm glad your class went well.

Yes, I do hope it is all gone by the weekend.
This time next week, I should be in Animal Kingdom.
I love Animal Kingdom!

I don't know. I guess I think the first few days of school are important for learning routines and just getting settled in. It would depend a lot on their ages, too. Exactly how many days would they miss? What grades are they in?

Free dining is huge, though, and I'd hate for you to have to chop days off, because the long trips are so great.

Man, I'm no help at all.

That's awfully sweet of her to be thinking of teachers. I would love the increased pay, but with it, I wonder what more stipulations they will put on us. I truly, truly, truly wish that anyone who made decisions about schools and teachers would spend time IN the classroom. Not just visit and shake hands, but take a class for one week. They would have a much better of the reality - of what we already trying to achieve and how frustrating it can be. When your job credibility is based on what an eight or nine year old cares to listen to, when they'd rather be riding bikes or drawing Bratz dolls, it is kind of frustrating.

It's cold again in Tennessee.
What about you guys?

Hey there MeMom glad you are feeling better. Getting off that plane next week and feeling that sun and seeing those palm trees will help.
It was 80 degrees here in Northeast Arkansas Tuesday and 32 degrees with rain and sleet today. I'm ready for summer!

It's cold here, too. I miss the 82 degrees that we had on Tuesday. :(

It has been up and down here, but I don't think we've seen 82 yet. The snow was pretty coming down today - big white flakes floating and twirling around - but it melted when it hit the ground. It was pretty wet all day, so it's supposed to freeze tonight. The kids are out of school, though, so at least there won't be any wondering about a snow/ice day for them.

Hey there MeMom glad you are feeling better. Getting off that plane next week and feeling that sun and seeing those palm trees will help.
It was 80 degrees here in North East Arkansas Tuesday and 32 with rain and sleet today. I'm ready for summer!

I looked at the forecast for Orlando for next week. It's looking good right now. Very little rain in the forecast and temperatures in the 70-80 range for the highs.

It was a very nice day at Epcot.

IMG_0360.jpg

Jill had said something earlier in the day about seeing Aladdin and Jasmine. Brooklynn took it one step further, and said, several times, "And that old Genie boy."

We were a little concerned, because what were our chances of seeing Genie?

The happiness gods were on our side, because as we approached Morocco, lo and behold, who did we see but....

old Genie boy!

We quickened our pace to be able to make it before he left.

And we made it!

IMG_0361.jpg

I get a kick out of seeing Brooklynn's face as she watches the characters' faces.

IMG_0364.jpg

IMG_0365.jpg

Genie took probably about two more people behind us, and he was done, so we were very lucky. Aladdin and Jasmine were coming out in a minute to take his place, but we've seen them several times, so we didn't go get back in line.

Antique Moroccan shirt.

IMG_0366.jpg

Not.

I took a lot of light pictures, but I have been lax on putting the last few on the lights thread. I'll catch up in time.

IMG_0367.jpg

Aladdin and Jasmine arrive.

IMG_0368.jpg

I have several Japan pictures, so I'll make that a new post.
