Over optimistic things you have purchased?

LOL. My wife has worn out two of those. Lots of apple pies come out of our kitchen.
We use ours every fall to make giant batches of applesauce. My kids are in charge of operating the machine.
A panini maker about 10 years ago. Had big plans to make paninis. Never even bothered to take it out of the box.
Our panini maker is a small skillet and big spatula.
I'm sensing most of your questions are rhetorical so I doubt you expect answers. I must say I do let my imagination run away with me sometimes and honestly, when I bought it I was humming to myself "...ronandannette peddling a Cubii...bam ba ba bam bam bam bam..."

I showed the chimpanzee to my kids and they weren't sure what to think.
My sister bought me the first generation kindle . It was so expensive to buy books and the library didn’t have many for it at the time . Didn’t use it . It’s obsolete now . I’m sure the updated ones are great but now I have no desire to get one because the first one was very impractical. I love a real book anyway .
At my sister's suggestion, we bought the kids and me basic Kindles before we went on a month-long road trip. They were super useful because we didn't let the kids take their Nintendo Switch or iPad. We had to fly to the destination and rent a car. There's no way we could have packed enough books. We still take our Kindles on trips. I like that you can download the first few pages to figure out if you like the book before you buy it.

My husband bought me an Apple Watch last year for Christmas and I haven’t worn it yet.
Two grown daughters and myself received Apple watches as gifts and all 3 of us said “what a waste…don’t need, have plenty of watches”.

Very soon we determined we LOVE the Apple Watch and can’t live without it. Especially love when the phone is at the bottom of my purse and I answer calls through the Watch. If important I ask caller to hold and I’ll drag my phone out.

Fantastic gift.

I do need to know if it makes noise. I’ve created a whole scene from The Office in my head around this and that’s a critical detail.

OK, just for you, I cleared some time on my calendar yesterday (can't work and pedal at the same time, remember?) and dusted off the Cubii. Although I never really noticed it before, I paid special attention to the sound so I could describe it to you. Bearing in mind I was wearing high heels, which may or may not have made a difference, the only description that really does it justice is that of a well-padded headboard rhythmically thudding against a wall, faster or slower, depending on your pace. Not super loud, mind you, but distinctive - KWIM? :o I'm blushing even typing this and I did try hard to come up with something else, but there it is.

I love you :love2: and your description is so much better than I ever imagined. A headboard banging against the wall in keeping with one’s pace? Well, now my imaginary comedy sketch has gone in a very different direction. Thank you for this. :thumbsup2
bam ba ba bam bam bam!

Totally fitting given the sound description.

You two are cracking me up!!!!!

Oh, sweet mercy, I don’t even know where to begin. I’ve never heard of this thing so I had to look it up. Was this the infomercial that sold you on it? Like, you saw this and thought, “Yeah, that’s how I can attain a better version of me.”

Did you see the ads for it enough times that the sight of under-desk elliptical training slowly started becoming normalized for you, or was it more like a sudden scared-straight moment when you heard the claim that “Sitting is the new smoking?”

Okay, a few more questions to really bring this vision to life for me: Do you have an open-sided desk as pictured so your coworkers can see it? Have they seen more definition in their abs lately as a result of laughing at you? Does it make noise? Is that noise like a high-pitched whir or more like a low hum, would you say? Do you store it with your Thighmaster and Shake Weight when not in use?

Thank you for this. I really love the thought of you totally detached from your workout while building the strongest ankles in all of Calgary. ❤️
They should make a treadmill that's used while one lays out on the couch. Imagine how big that would have been during the pandemic. Just people using it as a foot rest.

I’m going to have to insist it’s marketed with a tagline along the lines of “Lying down is the new alcoholism!” or “Relaxing is the new meth use!”

oh my goodness. I love my instant pot and air fryer! Most used kitched gadgets we have. And my kindle... Well currently I use the kindle app on my ipad, but I have a paperwhite in my office and I love it.

My over optimistic things are planners and pretty much anything organization related. I have ADHD which I swear has gotten worse as I've gotten older and have kids. so I buy these things thinking "oh this will help me keep track of things" or "This thing will help keep my desk/bathroom/closet" clean. I get everything all organized and then after a week, never use it again. Drives my husband batty. I have great intentions but zero follow thru.

Also a cricut, heat press and sublimation printer. I thought hey, look how cool it would be to be able to make my own shirts and whatever... I could do this or that.... Nope. Only really ever use them to make shirts for Disney/Universal or for my kids random "dress up like a unicorn-grinch day" that you find out about at 830 the night before.
