Hi!!!

Just wanted to let all you Disney World photography lovers out there that I recently started compiling a "photo blog" of sorts with the most impressive WDW Pictures I have found on the net so far.

If you would like to contribute pics, please let me know. As you can see I always link back and give appropriate credits to the author.

The site can be found at http://wdwpics.blogspot.com

Please let me know what you think!

Raises interesting questions about inline linking. Some people are fine with it. Others are not. If you aren't already, I'd get approval of the photo owner before having it render within your blog. Posting a link to a page with the photo (rather than a link to the photo itself), is typically less of an issue (although some people object to any form of deep linking without permission).

Just FYI - I was asked if one of my photos could be used on this blog before it was posted via a very nice email. The OP has been very respectfully asking permission before posting photos to his blog, unless they are photos with creative commons licenses allowing such use. I was very impressed that he did this when so many people don't think twice about using other people's photos without permission. He is also very good about linking properly and giving credit to the original photographer.

And that debate will go on as long as the internet exists.

Some feel that they can post images or other data on the web and expect privacy. Others feel that anything on the net should not expect any privacy.

Imagine someone paints a mural on their garage door, would you sharing that address so someone can drive by to see it be a violation of privacy or ownership rights?

Is that the same as linking?

nope,,, giving out the garage address wouldn't put the owner of the mural over their alloted bandwidth usage....:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I just want to clarify that the photos that are posted on the mentioned blog, thusfar, are hosted on flickr. The OP is following Flickr's TOS.

From a photographer's point of view, he has been very respectful and has done everything right. I don't know this person. I got an email asking if he could publish some of my photos (that he saw on flickr) on his blog. He did check to see if they were copy protected and noted that I didn't have a CC license so he didn't want to do it without permission. He said he would credit me and link back to the original flickr page.

When I didn't answer (because I was on vacation) he wrote again, very nicely asking, instead of just doing it without hearing from me. When I gave my permission, he did exactly what he said he would do.

I just don't want people to read this thread and think that he is stealing photos - he is not. And this person is new to the DIS and I want him to feel welcomed. He (and others) may not realize that this discussion has gone from one specifically about his blog to one that is now discussing the issue of stolen bandwidth on a larger scale. I just wanted to make sure that it clear.

no one said stolen bandwidth , those are your words..

I didn't even say he was doing anything wrong, just pointing out a difference to Anewman's 2 examples..

Thank you for this! There are some spectacular shots in there!! I really enjoyed seeing the magic when I can't be there!!:goodvibes

Hi guys. To be perfectly honest, it was not my intention to stir up any controversy :confused3

As I mentioned in my introductory post I live in Spain, and do not get the chance to visit the parks very often. Only about every 5 years or so. To make the wait time more manageable, and help others in their planning, I set up this photography blog as well as another Disney World information blog in Spanish as a hobby.

Where do I find the pictures? I go to Flickr, look for Disney pics with a creative commons license and ALWAYS link appropriately to the original picture AND to the author's website. I would say that there are not many people online that go to the trouble of doing this. After all, why bother?? However, I believe that this is the right thing to do and I believe that most of these authors will be happy to see others enjoying their pics as long as they are appropriately credited for it.

As Barrie mentioned, if I see a photo I like but has all rights reserved - ie not creative commons - I ask the author for permission to post it on the blog.

Because it is a Disney Photography Blog, I decided to post it here - in the Photography section of DisBoards which seems appropriate.

In any case, I respect everyone's opinions, so if you enjoy the pics Yee-haw!!! and if you believe that I am doing something wrong you are more than welcome to state your opinion. :)

DisneyHispana - I have no problem with the idea or the execution and you are welcome to browse through my photos for any you might like to use - there's a few scattered in there that I condiser "good" and a lot of chaff that could be weeded out... :) Link to my Flickr collection is in my signature.

Good luck!

I think that your blog is great and that you are doing it properly. Few would be so conscientious.

You might also want to check Smugmug's Disney community. I have a picture there that was once declared the winner in the photo contest here because the only picture that beat it already won third place in a contest a couple of years ago.
