Outragous New Akershus Pricing

I disagree with that point of view - but okay, fine, that covers the last three years. What excuse do you use for being forced to carry the financial burden prior to that? :)

Prior we never viewed it as a burden. It was pure and simple pay what fits into your budget and receive the F&B that fits your budget.

... because while free diners are not helping the restaurant's bottom line, they are helping the overall company/resort's bottom line by paying rack rate, typically stay longer, spend more etc.....

Yep, looking back :wizard: I could have saved more money with a room discount, but took the "free dining" because it sounds so cool :earboy2: You have to give the guys in Marketing credit for taking a $450 discount and calling it "free dining"... and getting people like me to give up my $530 room discount at a deluxe and instead pay rack rate for my room, because it sounds cool to say "I got free dining for my trip"

:rotfl2: the $450 I saved, we spent on more gifts, so Disney got that money too :rotfl2:

...oh-well

i disagree w/that statement... because while free diners are not helping the restaurant's bottom line, they are helping the overall company/resort's bottom line by paying rack rate, typically stay longer, spend more on alcohol and souvies, etc...

and jftr, there's nothing that says you cannot take advantage of DDP or free dining (if it is offered)...

Nothing wrong with it at all but it clearly has made "signature" dining change their menus in the way of food quality and choices.
F&B does indeed have a different financial forecast than resorts, parks, etc.

WDW does keep rooms filled, parks crowded but no longer stands out as a dining/golf/spa destination. Sad for us but great for you.

Signature dining hasn't changed all that much, because DDP users need to fork over 2 credits for it. The cash prices, however, seem to be soaring.

It's the one-credit restaurants with drastic changes.

The 2-credits may be following along now if the deluxe dining plan gets really popular.

However, if you check how much Disney spent on feeding you vs. your room discount, how did that match up? Did you eat at least $80 more than the cost of the dining plan?

We made reservations for CRT for breakfast in June and were charged the holiday pricing. I wrote this in another thread, but if you are eating on June 22, you will be able to celebrate the following holidays: Anti-fascist struggle day in Croatia, School-teachers' Day in El Salvador, World Wide VW Beetle Day and Bring your pet to work Day. I am thinking that each of us should look up our June dining dates and put a special request on each reservations. To dining CM: Please note that our family will celebrating bring your pet to work day. Can you do anything special for that? After all, we are paying HOLIDAY PRICING!! :rotfl2:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Oh, g-d, that's too funny:rotfl2: :rotfl2:
Is there a traditional anti-fascist day desert? That's what I want...with a song! "Happy anti-fascist day *clap, clap* to you...Happy anti-fascist day *clap, clap* to you"

For those prices they should have Borat, himself, singing the song. :rotfl2:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: That is funny. Don't forget to request that they sing it in the native Croatia tongue. :thumbsup2

I don't know how many will but we all should start thinking about it more ! I agree with you 100%. Especially when you think about the quality of food you would get in the real world for the prices they are charging it's just crazy. I know it's a theme park and therefore it costs more but there has be a stopping point. Are we going to pay $60.....$65...$70 a person for CRT. :sad2: I won't book it now because it is nowhere near worth what they want now.

I agree. We have a trip planned this year ( we did not go last year) but I'm not as excited about it as I was and am not 100% sure we are going to do it. And next year I have several other places picked out I would rather go and spend my money ! For WDW prices we could have a very nice trip elsewhere :sad2:

I have CRT booked this trip for the first and last time. My youngest is six, so I did it for her. But never again. We are staying off property, so our CC was charged at the time for the meal. The idea of paying for this overpriced meal 180 days out made me sick. I was thinking next trip to do the Norway meal since it's a better price, well now that's out.

We always rent a car so we do eat several meals off property. Every time I look up the menus it seems there is a price increase. Each year we eat more and more meals off property. For ten bucks or so I can get a huge breakfast at Cracker Barrel that will keep me full till dinner. Or spend 33.00 to eat scrambled eggs in a castle and be starving 2 hours later.

It's getting out of hand. Sure I can budget and fork over the dough, but it's at the point that I don't want to. Disney needs to see that cash payers are getting resentful to be footing the free dining bill.

Why would you not do it if its free? You don't have to eat or even order everything on your plan.

My question, and my thoughts, exactly!! How can it be "too much food" if it is free, and you don't have to eat everything on the plan? FREE is a good thing, or am I missing something here?

Yes those that pay cash always make up the bottom line $$$$.. free dining or DDP get the perks and the rest of us carry the financial burden:sad2:. What else is new?

Free dining or DDP, We still pay cash for our rooms, and our dining plans, and our tickets, and our transportation to and from Disney. We are paying dearly for our "perks", and I don't see you carrying our "financial burden." -- Financial burden? -- excuse me but we are paying over $3000.00 for our trip and dining plan. I don't understand your logic here. My family is carrying our own financial burden, and we use the same kind of cash all the rest of the Disney guests are using to pay for our trip. Sorry, but you have it all wrong, you and the others are not carrying the financial burden. We carry our own thank you.

Yep.... you are right.

I did take the smaller discount up-front on paper....but since we probably got $120 dollars over the value of what we paid for the dining plan.... so in the end, it did work out.

Point of the story....
To get me to go in September (hurricane season)
-they could give me a room discount
-a rainy season or slow season discount
- or free dining

They are just changing the name of what they call the incentive... but I think "free dining" has the greatest emotional effect :teacher:

interesting :wizard:
