Outdoor dining reservations

If you request outdoor dining on a ADR is it guaranteed as long as you're willing to waiting? If you're only interested in doing outdoor dining and they can't fulfill that request would you still get charged a cancelation fee?

As long as you're willing to wait, I don't see why not.

Disney is pretty big on "requests are just requests, never guarantees".
They will try to do what they can, but never guarantee.

Not all restaurants have outdoor options, and some might only offer it some of the time due to staffing issues. But most of the time, when we've requested it when we checked in for the meal, we've gotten to eat outdoors. Most recent trips include Olivia's, Morimoto's, Wine Bar George, and Via Napoli. There are many outdoor opportunities at DS, less at some of the resorts. If you wish to eat outdoors and the place is offering outdoor seating, it cannot hurt to ask.

I think the Boat house you can reserve outdoor dining on Open Table. Also Geyser Point at Wilderness is all outdoor but doesn’t accept reservations aside from walk up or checking the walk up waitlist on MDE

Love Geyser Point and Three Bridges (at Coronado) for outdoor options. But you probably have to take Disney transportation to those resorts right now to dine there. They're not likely to let people in to park and eat at those walk-up places. Thumbs up for Boathouse dining - we enjoyed that....

We ate outside at Jaleo and Wine Bar George. Jaleo sat us right away. We had to wait a little bit for WBG but no problem getting a table. I think WBG has a smaller outdoor seating area; it was upstairs and had a great overview of the area for people watching.
