Our September 2011 Pre-Trip Adventure!! (Update 09/29/2011 - Link to TR!)

I was never a big fan of the Jungle Book, but I do love the songs and Bare Necessities is great to watch, Baloo is such a character :)

I love The Jungle Book. It's one of the movies I remember from my childhood and it holds good memories :)

Bare Necessities sure is a fun song and Baloo is awesome! :thumbsup2

Slightly O/T but I caught up with GG! I knew it would be a cliff hanger but can't believe sneaky Charlie (or Ivy) - also I hope the baby (if it is Blair's) is Chuck's. I thought it was sweet of him to let her go.

This is one of my favourite movies, in fact I have a cat named Baghera!!!!

Yay, I thought it was a great movie as well! Lol at having a cat named Baghera! :rotfl: Does he look like the character as well?!

I love this movie too :) The music is great! I was very excited when we saw King Louie and Baloo last week. Not excited enough to wait in line, but it was nice to see that they're still around.

Yay, am glad you love it! :goodvibes I can't wait to meet the characters from this film. I look forward to reading all about it in your TR - when are you starting? Be sure to let me know :)

Just catching up with your PTR :)
I love all of the plans you have for POP...
The resort looks so great!

I love Lady and the Tramp and The Jungle Book.
They're both such great movies :goodvibes

I actually just watched Lady and the Tramp last week.

Ahhh The Jungle Book....probably one of the most watched videos in our house when Jas was little! She used to take it to my parents so her and my dad could watch it (his favorite character is Baloo) and she still loves it to this day! Great memories when I think of them watching it together. I think that's what makes Disney so great....all of us have memories because of them!

Yay, am looking forward to staying at POP and having some fun!

I agree - both Lady and The Tramp and The Jungle Book are great movies. I hope you enjoyed your movie watching :)

I feel the same. The Jungle Book holds many nice memories related to my childhood. My brother and I used to watch it quite a bit and at one point we wanted to live in a jungle! :rotfl:

I love all the memories Disney holds for different people and can't wait to create some new memories in September!

Signing up!

Wo... that is a long list of things t do at Pop Century. I guess we barely got to do half of that but again we were there for one week only AND we had a little one with us. :)

Can't wait to read more. :thumbsup2

Q

Well, looks like our next movie is Jungle Book now! Added it to my netflix order! :thumbsup2:lmao:

Yay, am glad to hear it! :rotfl: I do hope though that you get to watch Aristocats before I review it - would love to hear your thoughts on that one :thumbsup2

Q

Hi Q, :welcome: and thank you for signing up!

Yeah the list of things to do at Pop Century is a bit ambitious! :rotfl2: However, am hoping to get through as much of it as possible - maybe I should start taking bets on how many people think we will be able to do! Having a little one with you would impact what you are able to do but IMO you get to see a different perspective of Disney with a little one. I can't wait to hear more of Disney through your DDs eyes. I'm hoping one day I will be able to take a little one of my own as well...not for a while yet though!

Hi everyone! Hope you have all had a good weekend so far. Yay for it being a long weekend – we are celebrating my brother’s 21st tonight! We are taking a cake and balloons to his favourite restaurant – he has no idea!!

I have not had much time to work on my planning binder this week, however the next thing to do is print off our itinerary, park times and meals. I have already discussed most of our ADRs but thought I would list our CS choices today.

So the CS choices we are thinking of trying on this trip are:

MK

Main Street Bakery (Breakfast)

Main-Street-Bakery-1.jpg

Columbia Harbour House (Lunch) – I can’t wait to eat here and try one of the famous sandwiches. Zaheer likes his fish so he will most likely get the fried fish option and we would share the choices.

Cosmic Ray’s (Lunch/Dinner) – We may not need a third choice at MK as it will depend on how we feel on the day. However, this place looks like a great CS option. I would love to see Sonny Eclipse and try the famous toppings bar.

Epcot

Sunshine Seasons (Lunch) – I love the variety of food available at this place and can’t wait to try the strawberry shortcake!

Mexico – As mentioned in our Epcot day plans we will be trying the nachos and churros.

When we first started planning we only had the QSDP and quite a lot of our choices were in Epcot. However, then we upgraded to the regular dining plan and had to cut out some of our choices such as Lotus Blossom Café and Tangierine Café. If we had Park Hoppers I would definitely be eating some more CS meals in this park.

DHS

Only one for this place – can you guess which one?

It is Starring Rolls! I am so looking forward to getting my hands on a cupcake!

AK

Again only the one CS meal planned but I will be getting some snacks from here as well!

We are looking forward to eating at Restaurantosaurus and trying the Shrimp Po Boy.

DTD

EoS (Dinner) – After reading all the reviews I could not pass up an opportunity to eat here.

WPE (Breakfast and Dinner) – I have heard this is the best CS meal in terms for value for money. I am looking forward to trying a pizza and then crème brulee for dessert.

Resorts

Everything Pop (Breakfast and Dinner) – Of course as we will be staying here I am guessing we will be eating here on some days.

Captain Cook’s – For Tonga Toast!

Question of the week – What is your favourite CS meal and why?

I want to share some trip related news with you which has made our week! I sent an attachment with our dietary requests a while ago to Disney World and a few restaurants have got back to us individually. However, this week I got a call from Chef Majidi at Sanaa. He was ever so helpful and went above and beyond his call of duty – he said he would provide the meat we eat to all the restaurants we have ADRs at so they are able to cook it for us!! I was very happy to hear this and can’t wait to meet Chef Majidi and thank him in person.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday and have a great week!

aaaaaaaaaaaaallright! Caught up with this latest installment! Glad to see its one on CS...for years I thought that was the only food offered there! Seriously, I had no idea ADRs existed or that regular sit-down restaurants were even an option at WDW until like...last year. I mean, sure, I've only really been going to WDW since 2009 but still! haha

You have some great options there! I've tried all except...lmao nvm, I'll just say which ones I have tried! haha shorter list....The MS Bakery, Cosmic Rays, Columbia, and the Mexico CS. All have great food and definitely some of my favorites!

For me personally, I like Pinocchio's Haus thing, haha not sure the name, but its a great place with good food and the view of its a small world is really nice. Another is one on your list: Cosmic Rays. It can be full a lot of the times, regardless of the vast amount of space it has, but with all the options they offer you cant argue! Plus, that toppings bar...
Lastly, Columbia is great too! I love their shrimp!

All your CS options look great - and what amazing service, getting a phone call from the chef himself!

I love so many of the CS locations in WDW - if I had to pick just one it would be Casey's Corner. It might sound dumb as it's really just hot dogs, but it's a tradition for DH and I to have something to eat from Casey's while we wait for wishes, and it's an essential part of any WDW visit.

That being said, I have favourites in each park. Other MK faves are Pinnochios and Pecos Bills, Epcot is the Yorkshire County Fish Shop and the Electric Umbrella, DHS Backlot Express and Pizza Planet, and at Animal Kingdom it's the Yak and Yeti CS.

Those CS choices are great! Our favorite CS is WPE...I believe it's the best CS on property. THe food is delicious! The butternut squash soup is to die for, the pizza's are fantastic and the chicken and garlic mashed potatoes:cloud9:

Thank you again for helping me out this weekend:goodvibes

Yaaayyyy!!! Thank you for catching up with the latest post! At times it feels like this PTR has been going forever!!! We are nearly in double digits and I can't wait!! :rotfl: Haha on not knowing regular sit down restaurants were available! I think we would have been the same if I hadn't stumbled across these boards.

I can't wait to try all the delish food - I have a feeling MS Bakery and Columbia will become my faves but we shall see...

Ooh I will have to see if I can fit in Pinocchio Village Haus though have read that Disney pizza is a bit blah! The toppings bar sounds awesome and it is that which tempted me to add this to our plans. Right, I'm going to have to persuade Zaheer to order the shrimp instead of the fish so I can have some of that as well!! :rotfl2:

Thank you! I know I was pretty surprised to receive that phone call and even more when he told me what he was going to do!! :worship: Can't wait to thank him in person.

There sure are so many great choices. Casey's Corner sounds great but we would not be able to have the hot dogs so that's why it has not made the shortlist. Getting one whilst waiting for Wishes sounds like a great plan! I think we will be doing the same with an ice cream instead!

Right, will def have to try and check out Pinocchios. The first thing that I cut out when changing dining plans was Fish and Chips as we eat them all the time at home. I may try and use a snack credit to try the chips though if it is a fave of yours.

Thank you! I thought you might say that - can't wait to eat there and will def be taking food pics! Oooh butternut squash soup - did not realise this was available but will definitely be trying it and the garlic mashed potatoes :cloud9:

No problem! I was glad to be able to help. After all a lot of people have helped me with the planning of our trip, yourself included :goodvibes

I know I can't believe that about Charlie too and Lily's sister!!! I kinda don't want the baby to be Blair's but being GG it will be and it will be Chucks, as you know there are never happy endings in TV

Hope you guys have a great time tonight and Happy Birthday to your brother :)

Great choices on CS's, esp Main St Bakery and Starring Rolls. You should check out Boardwalk Bakery as well for other cupcakes. I started a thread a while ago asking people to share their cupcake treats from the World and have now compiled a list of cupcakes we have to try this year :teeth:

That's really cool about Chef Majidi saying he will provide all the meat to your ADR's, that's Disney Magic for you :)

My fav counter service is Casey's as I love a good old fashioned hot dog and you can have cotton candy as your dessert, not to mention watching old cartoons whilst you eat them in the little cinema with benches :)

I like your CS choices. :thumbsup2

I think that Sunshine Seasons is awesome. They seem to have the most variety on property!

Your CS choices look great! I haven't eaten at may of the CS restaurants yet but my favorites so far are Cosmic Ray's and Sunshine Seasons.

I think you have some great choices on your list!

I've had the BLT salad at Columbia Harbour House... it was good. I can't remember what DH had. Cosmic Ray's is a good choice, too! I had the rotisserie chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans... it's A LOT of food!

We ate at Sunshine Seasons for the 1st time last year. VERY good! As are the CS places in Mexico and Japan.

The only CS we've had at DHS is pizza from Catalina Eddie's. But I've heard the ABC Commissary is good.

As for AK, the only CS meal we've had was at Pizzafari. I really wanted to try Flame Tree BBQ, but our DDs liked the kids options at Pizzafari better.

It' been a long time since I have been on here. Great job with the movies, its good to watch and keep interested in all things Disney. I wonder if I could take the idea for my PTR? (please). I need a way to stay active on the boards. I am very happy for you about the Chef from Sanaa being on board. What great service :woohoo:. The only CS place I am looking forward to is Flame Tree at AK. I have purposely avoided looking at my options. It seems like I have micro managed every aspect of this trip so I am leaving CS up in the air so that we have some spontaneity :thumbsup2. We are just going to stop when we are hungry and hope for the best. I know this goes against everything we are taught in the Dis academy  but I think we will be fine.

my favourite CS that I have eaten at is Cosmic Rays. The Chicken and Rib combo is so good and a great value. I have heard fantastic things about WPE so I am hoping to try it this trip!

If you need another CS at MK, Pecos Bill is awesome as well. I love all your choices. We were going to do Columbia House on our trip, but........well I tell ya later:cool2: LOL.

Happy Birthday to your brother!

Happy Birthday to your brother!

All of your food choices look great. I've never been to Starring Rolls, but after reading about on all the TR's, I will stop by there next time!
That is so nice about Chef Majidi!

My favorite CS is Pinnochios at MK. I think it's because we could see the boat riders from It's a Small World.
