Our over-planned, 2nd annual WDW trip – lots of pics - Updated on 6/28

So you went to Blizzard Beach on Easter Day. I am just trying to figure out when you were there, cause I was there at the same time, WDW that is.

Was there a band playing at Margaritiville? I just found out a 2 people from my home town play there. And one of them subs and plays in "Off Kilter" in Epcot.

No, we went a couple weeks after Easter. We were at Blizzard Beach on 4/23. Actually, the band at Margaritaville was setting up right as we were getting ready to leave. Off-kilter was playing in Epcot when we were there. They were pretty good.

I saw you had a trip report (and you signed mine) so I decided to come by. Great writing :). And your girls are adorable...

Wahoo, today is the day, the day of our first theme park. I can hardly sleep. I jump out of bed before everyone. When I am done with the bathroom, I wake up the Prince. I want to be certain that we leave on time to make rope drop. Of course you know men, they can be ready in no time at all, us woman take considerably longer. By this time, the kids must have heard us stirring around, so they got up. I gave them breakfast and packed the cooler for our day at MGM. When the kids were finished eating, they brushed their teeth & hair and got dressed. What time did we leave the house? 5 minutes earlier then schedule, everyone knew I meant business! While driving to MGM, I asked the Prince if he would mind getting to the front of the line and grabbing FP’s for RnR and we would met him in front of TOT. He said, sure. Here is a lovely picture that I took while we were driving:

We got to the gates before they opened the turnstiles. The kids were so excited. This is Aurora’a favorite park. They opened the turnstiles, which lead us to another rope drop. It was there where I lost DH somewhere in the crowd but, that was OK, we had a plan. MGM started their rope drop show. I picked up Lilo so she could see. It was very entertaining and made the time go by quickly. They dropped the rope and we were off (walking of course).

I went up to TOT and I asked Lilo if she wanted to ride, she declined. I asked the CM for a child swap pass, he gave it to me just as the Prince was walking up the path. What timing! Aurora and I rode while DH waited behind with Lilo in the TOT store. Aurora loves this ride! She was giggling as we stood there waiting for the elevator. When we got off, I told DH to go with Aurora, he says, “Lilo changed her mind, she is going on.” I said, OK. They invited Aurora to join them, but for some reason she decided to sit this one out. Then they proceeded to walk toward the ride with a CM. At that point, I had no clue what was going on. Then the CM came back over to me and explained what happened. He said that he convinced Lilo to try the ride and in return he would give her a hidden Mickey pin from his landyard. Since she wanted the pin so bad, she agreed to go on the ride. He even gave her what he described as Movie star treatment. She was able to enter the ride through the doors that the movie stars use and she got front row seats. Needless to say, Lilo hated TOT and had zero desire to ride again even though the CM offered to let her have another ride. I guess you could say that was a prize from A Year of a Million Dreams. We printed the picture and took one with the very nice CM:

At this point, our FP’s were available for RnR, we walked over there, Aurora and I went first. I love this ride! I even took the redneck photo, because it was just so funny. Aurora and I are the two in the back.

The reaction on my face just cracks me up. After that, we grabbed 4 FP’s for later while Aurora and the Prince rode next. Lilo and I decided to head over to get some autographs. We waited for Donald and Daisy. Here are some pictures:

After that we went in line for Chip, Dale, and some female chipmunk (no clue what her name is). When DH called me on my Nextel, we told him where we were and they met up with us. We got the autographs, as you can see:

We then watched the end of High School Musical Pep Rally and walked onto the Great Movie Ride. I can honestly, say that this ride is a complete waste of time. I find it to be a real snoozer, but we rode for the love of the girls. Then we proceeded over to Lilo’s favorite, Star Tours. Lilo and the Prince are huge Star Wars fans. Do you know how jerky this ride is? Well, I thought I was going to toss my cookies on this ride. I got so sick! I did all I could to control myself. I was seriously looking around the room for a barf bag. When we got off, I raced outside for fresh air and sat outside for a while. I think it was a combination of TOT, RnR and then Star Tours that just sent me over the deep end. While waiting for me to recover, DH took some pics of the girls:

Everyone (except me) was starving at this point, so we grabbed our sandwiches and ate. I just grabbed a Coke and hoped that the carbonation would settle my stomach and make me less nauseous. I even laid down for a while on the park bench. After lunch, the girls noticed Mike & Sully. We waited in line for Mike & Sully’s autograph to find out that Monster’s do not like paper work, so it was slightly disappointing. Actually I was kind of ticked off because I went through the work of making a personal autograph page for Monsters.

We headed back to RnR to use our FP’s. I was still feeling sick so, Aurora and the Prince rode, while we waited in the store with Lilo. I kindly offered my two remaining FP’s to two younger gentlemen that just asked me to take a picture of them, but they declined because they were with a group of people. Some guy was standing there with his son and asked if he could have them, I said sure. He kept saying, thank you! No problem. The girls both each wanted to buy a RnR pocketbook so, we bought them a souvenir with our Disney Rewards Card and decided to leave MGM and head over to my favorite park, MK.

We drove on over to MK. DH were in the car discussing what a wonderful week we were having so far. The temperature was great and it was so relaxing. I was finally starting to feel normal again, but I still had no desire to eat my lunch. I took a pic of the MK sign:

normal_img_0194.jpg

After we parked the car, we decided to make a change from past years. I said, lets try the ferry, we have never taken the ferry. The prince asked which was faster. I said probably the Monorail, but we have never tried the ferry before. The ferry it is then! I took some pics on the ferry:

We went through the gates of the MK. Every time I see the castle I am in awe. I wanted to take family photo, but DH suggested that we wait until later. I said, ok. We walked over to Adventureland where there was a sea of people. I looked down and there was a Donald Jibbitz right there. I picked it up and gave it to Aurora, since she was the only one with normal crocs. Lilo and I were both wearing Mickey crocs. We walked over the bridge to Adventureland and I saw it. Yes, you know what I am talking about. I am talking a Dole Whip. I have heard so much about these things, but I have never had one. I stop in my tracks and called DH.

Me: Hun, I want to try a Dole Whip.

DH: What’s a Dole Whip?

Me: From what I hear, it’s an ice cold piece of heaven

DH: Then what are we waiting for, let’s try one!

We all wanted to try the Dole Whip Float except Lilo. She wanted one of those twist popsicle things, but there is not an ice cream cart around. We agree to buy her one just as soon as we see an ice cream cart. We sit on the bench and wait for the Prince to bring us the Dole Whip. Aurora can see Daddy at the window and walks over to help him carry the Dole Whips over. The Prince hands me the Dole Whip, I take a sip, then a bite. Do I like it? Does the Prince and Aurora like it? Wait and see……….

What do you think of that Dole Whip?

There I sat, holding the Dole Whip Float in my hands. I took a sip and I tasted just pineapple juice, nothing special. So I mixed it around, stuck the straw inside the ice cream and sipped the combination of pineapple ice cream and pineapple juice. Wow! It was amazing. I said to myself, these people on the DIS boards really know what they are talking about! I thought it was incredible. I wish I would have remembered to take a picture, but I honestly did not think about it until it was gone. DH enjoyed his as well. Aurora like it, but did not love it. After I sucked half of my Dole Whip down I offered to let them all rest while I would run over to Big Thunder Mountain and grab some FP’s for later. I booked it through the crowd sipping my Dole Whip along the way. It is amazing how much faster you can walk when you are alone without a stroller in tow. I grabbed the FP’s for later and raced back. By the time, I arrived back in Adventureland everyone was well rested and refreshed from that ice cold Dole Whip.

We then decided to go on Pirates, because my entire family is a Huge POTC fan. Just as we got there, they were starting the Jack Sparrow show. Seeing as we just got to MK, we decided to skip the show go on the ride. As we were getting in line, Aurora asked the CM if there were any hidden Mickey’s. He replied by hold his hand up and saying “5.” This was the first time we rode POTC since the updates and let me tell you, Disney made a good ride even better, when they updated it. It was fabulous! There we sat as a family looking for these 5 hidden Mickey’s. How many did we find? None, we decided that we stink at this game and hoped that we would find one at some point.

At this point, we decided to head over to Frontierland. We walked over to Splash, grabbed FP’s for later and then rode Big Thunder Mountain with our previously held FP’s. Lilo was in roller coaster heaven. She loves this ride!

Aurora insisted that we go to Tom Sawyer’s Island next. DH and I had zero desire to go over there, but we are loving parents so we did it for the love of the children. Every second was pure torcher, we could not wait to catch the next raft back. Here we were in WDW and we were walking through paths in Tom Sawyer Island. It was just awful. Lilo noticed that the 3pm parade was starting and she was a little disgruntled that her sister made her miss the parade for Tom Sawyer Island. Well, we explored the entire Island and missed the entire parade so we convinced Aurora to leave. She reluctantly followed along. We can now say that we explored Tom Sawyer Island and hopefully we will never have to return there again. Here is a picture of the Haunted Mansion taken from the Island.

We then headed over to Fantasyland. We rode one ride; It’s a small world and then went over to ToonTown for some autographs. On the way, we noticed an ice cream cart, so we bought Lilo her Twist Popsicle that she was waiting for. In ToonTown, I must have hit the camera setting accidentally, because some of these pictures did not come out so well. The characters just got a kick out of seeing the personalized page in the autograph books that I made.

We then walked on over to the train since my FP was available for Splash Mountain. We got off at Frontierland to ride Splash. For some odd reason, Lilo refused to go on Splash Mountain. It is an awesome ride, why she refused I’ll never know. DH said that he would stay behind with her while Aurora and I rode. Here a picture I took while riding and I also took the redneck photo, but that did not come out as well, we are the two in the back row.

It was somewhere around 5:30-6:00 when we decided that we had enough for the day. We made the decision to head out a get a bite to eat. I remembered my parents telling me about various affordable restaurants in the area and I seemed to recall them mentioning CiCi’s Pizza. We called the King and asked him how to get there from WDW. The king gave us excellent directions. Let me tell you that if you are on a budget, CiCi’s Pizza is the way to go. My family of four ate at CiCi’s for around $20 including drinks. It was an incredible deal. If you have never been there, they have a fabulous all can eat pizza buffet. Lilo loves pizza; she ate 8 slices of cheese all by herself. Aurora was happy as clam going up to get whatever she wanted. Overall, I would have to rate the Pizza quality as OK. It was not fabulous, I have had much better, but it was still tasty. We certainly got our money’s worth on that meal. I only wish that we had a CiCi’s Pizza here at home.

On the way home, DH asked if we wanted to go back to Universal City Walk. Apparently he purchased a shirt in Margaritville the other night and it was too small. He wanted to exchange it for the right size. I just wanted to rest, so I asked him if he would mind going alone, he said No. The girls and I had a great time together. We went swimming and I let them drive me around the resort in the golf cart. It started to get dark so, we went back to the Palace to wash up and get ready for bed. I got the sandwiches ready for the next day and reviewed my plan. Tomorrow’s Plan, MK rope drop! This was the day I dreamed of. I have never made it to rope drop at MK, I have read about it, but I never seen it first hand. I could not wait!
