Wahoo, today is the day, the day of our first theme park. I can hardly sleep. I jump out of bed before everyone. When I am done with the bathroom, I wake up the Prince. I want to be certain that we leave on time to make rope drop. Of course you know men, they can be ready in no time at all, us woman take considerably longer. By this time, the kids must have heard us stirring around, so they got up. I gave them breakfast and packed the cooler for our day at MGM. When the kids were finished eating, they brushed their teeth & hair and got dressed. What time did we leave the house? 5 minutes earlier then schedule, everyone knew I meant business! While driving to MGM, I asked the Prince if he would mind getting to the front of the line and grabbing FPs for RnR and we would met him in front of TOT. He said, sure. Here is a lovely picture that I took while we were driving:
We got to the gates before they opened the turnstiles. The kids were so excited. This is Auroraa favorite park. They opened the turnstiles, which lead us to another rope drop. It was there where I lost DH somewhere in the crowd but, that was OK, we had a plan. MGM started their rope drop show. I picked up Lilo so she could see. It was very entertaining and made the time go by quickly. They dropped the rope and we were off (walking of course).
I went up to TOT and I asked Lilo if she wanted to ride, she declined. I asked the CM for a child swap pass, he gave it to me just as the Prince was walking up the path. What timing! Aurora and I rode while DH waited behind with Lilo in the TOT store. Aurora loves this ride! She was giggling as we stood there waiting for the elevator. When we got off, I told DH to go with Aurora, he says, Lilo changed her mind, she is going on. I said, OK. They invited Aurora to join them, but for some reason she decided to sit this one out. Then they proceeded to walk toward the ride with a CM. At that point, I had no clue what was going on. Then the CM came back over to me and explained what happened. He said that he convinced Lilo to try the ride and in return he would give her a hidden Mickey pin from his landyard. Since she wanted the pin so bad, she agreed to go on the ride. He even gave her what he described as Movie star treatment. She was able to enter the ride through the doors that the movie stars use and she got front row seats. Needless to say, Lilo hated TOT and had zero desire to ride again even though the CM offered to let her have another ride. I guess you could say that was a prize from A Year of a Million Dreams. We printed the picture and took one with the very nice CM:
At this point, our FPs were available for RnR, we walked over there, Aurora and I went first. I love this ride! I even took the redneck photo, because it was just so funny. Aurora and I are the two in the back.
The reaction on my face just cracks me up. After that, we grabbed 4 FPs for later while Aurora and the Prince rode next. Lilo and I decided to head over to get some autographs. We waited for Donald and Daisy. Here are some pictures:
After that we went in line for Chip, Dale, and some female chipmunk (no clue what her name is). When DH called me on my Nextel, we told him where we were and they met up with us. We got the autographs, as you can see:
We then watched the end of High School Musical Pep Rally and walked onto the Great Movie Ride. I can honestly, say that this ride is a complete waste of time. I find it to be a real snoozer, but we rode for the love of the girls. Then we proceeded over to Lilos favorite, Star Tours. Lilo and the Prince are huge Star Wars fans. Do you know how jerky this ride is? Well, I thought I was going to toss my cookies on this ride. I got so sick! I did all I could to control myself. I was seriously looking around the room for a barf bag. When we got off, I raced outside for fresh air and sat outside for a while. I think it was a combination of TOT, RnR and then Star Tours that just sent me over the deep end. While waiting for me to recover, DH took some pics of the girls:
Everyone (except me) was starving at this point, so we grabbed our sandwiches and ate. I just grabbed a Coke and hoped that the carbonation would settle my stomach and make me less nauseous. I even laid down for a while on the park bench. After lunch, the girls noticed Mike & Sully. We waited in line for Mike & Sullys autograph to find out that Monsters do not like paper work, so it was slightly disappointing. Actually I was kind of ticked off because I went through the work of making a personal autograph page for Monsters.
We headed back to RnR to use our FPs. I was still feeling sick so, Aurora and the Prince rode, while we waited in the store with Lilo. I kindly offered my two remaining FPs to two younger gentlemen that just asked me to take a picture of them, but they declined because they were with a group of people. Some guy was standing there with his son and asked if he could have them, I said sure. He kept saying, thank you! No problem. The girls both each wanted to buy a RnR pocketbook so, we bought them a souvenir with our Disney Rewards Card and decided to leave MGM and head over to my favorite park, MK.
We drove on over to MK. DH were in the car discussing what a wonderful week we were having so far. The temperature was great and it was so relaxing. I was finally starting to feel normal again, but I still had no desire to eat my lunch. I took a pic of the MK sign:
After we parked the car, we decided to make a change from past years. I said, lets try the ferry, we have never taken the ferry. The prince asked which was faster. I said probably the Monorail, but we have never tried the ferry before. The ferry it is then! I took some pics on the ferry:
We went through the gates of the MK. Every time I see the castle I am in awe. I wanted to take family photo, but DH suggested that we wait until later. I said, ok. We walked over to Adventureland where there was a sea of people. I looked down and there was a Donald Jibbitz right there. I picked it up and gave it to Aurora, since she was the only one with normal
crocs. Lilo and I were both wearing Mickey crocs. We walked over the bridge to Adventureland and I saw it. Yes, you know what I am talking about. I am talking a Dole Whip. I have heard so much about these things, but I have never had one. I stop in my tracks and called DH.
Me: Hun, I want to try a Dole Whip.
DH: Whats a Dole Whip?
Me: From what I hear, its an ice cold piece of heaven
DH: Then what are we waiting for, lets try one!
We all wanted to try the Dole Whip Float except Lilo. She wanted one of those twist popsicle things, but there is not an ice cream cart around. We agree to buy her one just as soon as we see an ice cream cart. We sit on the bench and wait for the Prince to bring us the Dole Whip. Aurora can see Daddy at the window and walks over to help him carry the Dole Whips over. The Prince hands me the Dole Whip, I take a sip, then a bite. Do I like it? Does the Prince and Aurora like it? Wait and see
