Day 6: March 18, 2010
The last day is already here. Boo. We couldnt believe how fast our trip was going. Of course, time always flies when youre having fun, so our trips always seem to go by fast. We woke up around 6 am again. Yes, 6 am- AGAIN! We loved getting up and getting to the parks early, especially yesterday when we made it to our very first rope drop ever! We got ready and headed down to the bus stop. As we made it around the corner, we realized that our bus was there waiting! Perfect timing again!
Those of you who know me can guess where we were going
..The MK! And it was morning EMHs there! We always have to start our trips at the MK and end them at the MK. Of course, the whole day, I had the last day blues. Usually, that means I am sad all day and hardly take any pics. I surprised myself this trip and actually took quite a bit until closer to the end of the night. haha.
So, we were headed to the MK for the day. We hadnt really been paying attention to what the time was the whole way over. We were just planning on getting there whenever. As we were getting off the bus and walking towards the entrance, I checked the time and realized it was almost 7:45, which worked out perfect for the opening show! Since it was morning EMHs, the show was starting at 8 am instead of 9. We hurried and made our way through the turnstiles and got a good spot just off the center of the train station. There was a good crowd forming, but we could see everything perfectly.
I was so excited to finally be at the MK for rope drop! I took pics with both my camera and my phone to send pics to Kristen, Dad, MeMom, and Heather. It was so exciting and I wanted them all to be there with us. First, these guys came out and did a little song/dance:
Then, they started talking about hearing the train coming and sure enough, we started hearing that familiar sound. I told Fiancé that the Family of the Day would be on that train. Gosh, how exciting would that be to be them?! Im sure you have to get there REALLY early to get picked! Anyone ever have the lucky experience of being chosen? Id love to hear about it!
As the train pulled into the station, I started getting butterflies in my stomach and a big grin on my face.
People start getting off the train and I realize that not only is the Family of the Day on it, but also Mickey, Minnie, and some of their other friends!
They brought the family out so we could see them. Sorry this pic is so blurry, it was freezing that day and I was shivering trying to take it!:
They gathered together and had us all counting down
at 1 the family threw confetti and strings and confetti flew out from the train station. It was seriously one of the happiest moments that Ive ever had at WDW. Of course, being the emotional sap that I am, I had tears rolling down my face. I didnt want to leave from that moment. Everything was happy and joyous, the real world didnt exist. All the stress and problems in life had escaped my mind for the time being. We were at my favorite place in the world. To share that excitement with the Family of the Day was so exciting for me. As we started following the herd under the train station, the family was up there waving at all of us. I waved the whole time until I couldnt see them anymore. I wanted them to have the best experience ever. Of course, Fiancé laughed at me and said I dont think they care if youre still waving. haha. Maybe they didnt, but I liked to pretend that they did.
So now, here we are, following the herd once again. Except, this herd was different than the one at AK. This one had more life. You could hear people talking, little kids laughing, people exclaiming about the Castle. As we made our way out from under the train station, we saw the horse and trolley:
It was so exciting to finally see it! Whenever were usually getting there, they are done giving rides up and down Main Street. I had seen it before, but this was Fiancés first time. He tried to admire it while keeping up, haha. As he turned back around, we were making our way around the corner with that clear view of the Castle:
As you can see, the ground was still wet from the CMs cleaning. It was also a pretty cloudy morning and we were hoping that we wouldnt have to deal with any rain during the day. Our plan of attack was to head to Space Mountain and get FPs. We walked by the Bakery and I told it that we would be back shortly. Yes, I said it out loud. Fiancé just laughed. Hes pretty used to my weirdness by now. haha.
Instead of following the herd to the main hub and then turning right into Tomorrowland, we turned right by the Plaza restaurant and used our cut across through the Noodle Station. Of course, that meant we met back up with the herd, but we were farther ahead than we were. We made our way back to the Space Mountain area and saw that they werent even letting people in yet! So, I got in line while Fiancé ran up to get us FPs for 10:30 am 11:30 am. Just as we started moving, he managed to find me in line. It was awesome just walking all the way through the line and up to the loading area even though we were in the stand-by line! The line was long in front of us, so we had to wait a few minutes once we got to the loading area, but we didnt care. As we got closer to getting on, we high-fived each other. We were doing good so far. Made it to rope drop yesterday and made it to rope drop today. This was our second time riding on the right side, so we wanted to try the left side with our FPs to compare tracks.
After SM, we headed over to Buzz. The wait was only 10 minutes! Our very first morning EMHs was going good! Somehow, I managed to hit a really good target and ended up beating Fiancé by a lot! I was so proud of myself since I am usually losing all the time. Of course, I had to text Kristen and tell her the good news, haha. We looked at our ride photo once we got off and realized that we both look way too serious when were trying to beat each others score. HA!
After Buzz, we walked over to the People Mover, aka the TTA. I was so glad that it was open again. I know Ive said it before, but we were so sad when it was closed our past trip in June. While the new spiel is actually alright, I still miss the old one. Fiancé kept telling me that it was time for a change with the spiel, and I had to agree with him. The old spiel had been around for quite a long time. It was so cold riding that we had our hoods up. We had to laugh at that because were used to sweating buckets when we on our usual trips in the summer. It was a nice change from sweating though. haha.
After we made it back down to Tomorrowland, we decided it was time to eat some breakfast since we were starving. We made our way back through the Noodle Station and down Main Street to the Bakery. There was quite a line, but it was moving quickly. I was hoping that once we had our food and paid that there would be a table open for us. I know we didnt have to eat in there because there is definitely other places to sit, but I just wanted to have the whole experience of finally eating breakfast at the Bakery. We usually get our cinnamon rolls late at night on our way out to eat for the next morning in the room. Luckily, a couple were just getting up as we were walking towards the seating area.
We sat down and I let out a big sigh. Again, I was getting sad. It was our last day. I had been counting down to this trip for months and now its already almost over. Fiancé reassured me that we still had plenty of the day left to enjoy. Thank goodness for him. He always knows what to say to calm me down. I decided not to worry anymore about this being our last day and try to enjoy it the best I can. So, we sat there and took our time eating. I had a cinnamon roll, Fiancé had a ham and cheese croissant, and we shared a large hot chocolate since it was freezing outside. It was so fun just sitting there, talking, and enjoying being in the Bakery. As most of you can agree, the smells in there are just divine. The atmosphere was just so relaxed, warm, and inviting. We honestly didnt want to get up, but we needed to continue our day!
Since we had gotten FPs so early in the day, we could now get another set of them! We decided to head over to Frontierland and get some for BTMRR. It was starting to get packed back in that corner of the park. I hate it because some people can be so rude. They just push and shove to hurry and get in line. We werent even trying to get in line! We were trying to get to the FPs! Finally, we made it through to the FP distribution. Our return time was 11:30 am 12:30 pm, which worked out perfect with our Space FPs.
With two sets of FPs in hand, we realized that we were starting to get close to our return time for Space! So, we decided to ride the train over to Toontown. It was exciting to see people riding BTMRR since we would be on it soon. The people riding waved to us and we waved back.
As we went over the bridge, I was sad to see that the burning building was still not burning. That was one of my favorite little things about Frontierland and it hasnt been working for a few trips now. Does anybody know why?
After singing with Pocahontas and answering that silly riddle that the spiel guy asks, we made it to the Toontown station. Does anyone know if there will still be a train station here after the Fantasyland expansion is done?
We made our way down the quiet path to Tomorrowland and up to Space to ride for the 2nd time that morning!
~Up next:
The rest of our morning at the MK and lunch at The Wave
