~Our March 'Just Engaged',freezing,and full of surprises trip~Updated 6/23 p.76

Great update! It was sure nice of the CM to let you guys sit in the front of Big Thunder Mountain

I was so excited to see you'd posted another update! But it's sad to see your report almost coming to an end, but luckily your next trip is just around the corner and hopefully the weather will be warmer for you guys then!

very cute photo of you both on the rail road one, that one deserves a frame! but good idea for picking up disney albums, think i might put that on my shopping list!

it really bizarres me that some people don't use fastpass... how could you not figure out what that other queue was cutting in front of you all day?!

Isn't a spin the train a relaxing way to spend a half an hour?? Love it!

I'm one of those who likes to wave at people too. keeps the magic in the trip!

Rebels?? Surely not you two! :lmao:

The train is really great for relaxing!

Haha, wait until you hear what we did! :thumbsup2

Thanks! Yes it was!

I still have two or three updates left for this TR so it's not over yet! :)

We always have to get albums. We usually try and find ones that have the year on them. There are some cute ones at WDW!

Again, I don't get the whole not knowing FP thing either!

I really like all of your train pictures. The one of the 2 of you together is great, but I also really like the one that shows the CM's in the front of you. That is a unique perspective & I've never thought to try to sit up close & watch them.

It seems like you guys are always really organized about getting FPs. It's cool that at the end of the day you can hit up 2 - 3 rides without having to wait long. Good day so far at the MK!

Fiance was all about the pics on the train. They did turn out cool! Glad you liked them.

Haha, I'd like to think we got the FP thing down good. :) I know we will really be taking advantage of them next month with the little guy. Now, we're trying to think of easy things to bring to occupy him in lines. :upsidedow

Try bubbles. Buy a pack of the ones they sale for weddings. Pack a few each day. They will entertain him and anyone else in the line.

Thanks girl!

It was great to have a pic of just us and no one else!

I think it's funny that people don't know about the FP system. I mean, I admit that I love Disney info, but even if they're not obsessed with reading Disney sites or books before leaving, wouldn't you do at least some research? I wouldn't go on vacation ANYWHERE without doing research and knowing what I could do and what's available! Silly people ... all this info at your fingertips!

When we rode the train and got to Main Street, I kept thinking, "You people are walking the wrong way; leave the park, please!"

I LOVED waving at people! Walking down Main Street in the morning, I waved at all the CMs. Then when people would pass by on the TTA, I'd wave at them too! Simple pleasures in life ... at least in WDW!

I just can't believe they don't even notice the part about FP's in any of the park maps!

 Leave the park please! :lmao:

Haha, it's amazing how much fun waving can be.

Day 6 continued: March 18, 2010

We left off leaving the MK and heading to the Contemporary. Instead of waiting for a monorail, we decided just to walk over. We used to use that path all the time when we would stay at the Contemporary every year. It was so much fun getting to do that again! While walking along this path, there are always these plants that smell really bad. I don’t know if it’s the mulch around it or what, but they stink! When we were younger, we used to always sing this song that we made up in reference to Phoebe’s song from Friends called “Smelly Cat”. We replaced the word cat with plants, so it was “Smelly plants, smelly plants…it’s not your fault.” haha. Don’t ask me why it was that song, but it just stuck with us and now every time we walk by them, we think of it. Since Sis wasn’t with, I had to sing the song by myself. It wasn’t as fun. Haha.

Another perk about the path is it only takes 7-10 minutes to get to the MK from the Contemporary or vice versa. We walked past all the people waiting at the Contemporary bus stops and walked into the main lobby. I immediately was sad because I saw that the Walt and Mickey statue (I think it was Walt, but correct me if I’m wrong) was gone! Sis and I used to always get our pic taken in front of it at the beginning of each trip. Oh well. We kept walking through the lobby and I was amazed at how much has changed since we’ve stayed there. The whole lobby area is refurbed! As we walked by the check-in, I said “See you in July!” And I think I did a little skip, but let’s just pretend no one saw. HAHA.

We walked by The Wave and I started to get really excited about finally getting to eat there. We still had some time to waste, so we headed out the sliding glass doors and out to one of our must-do traditional pics at the Mickey Ears. Fiancé figured out the timer on my new camera, so he was able to get in the pic too! Since Sis wasn’t there, he decided to take her spot:

542.jpg

Yeah…that was really weird not having Sis there. I know it’s just a picture, but we have seriously been taking our pic there every year for as long as I can remember. Sometime I’ll have to scan all the older ones and post a “Through the Years” of Mickey Ears pics.

After we got our pic, we wanted to head over to BLT and check it out now that people were finally staying there, so we started walking that way. On the trip of our last year of staying at the Contemporary before we became DVC members, we were lucky and the CM checking us in upgraded us to the main tower! We had a Bay Lake view and were up pretty high. I remember when we’d go down to the pool, we’d tie a towel some crazy way on our railing so we could tell which room was ours. I can’t remember which exact one it is, but it’s in this pic somewhere. Haha:

543.jpg

Just walking up to BLT was pretty amazing. It is hard to believe that there used to be another garden wing of rooms there before! We walked upon an intersection. We could either go left and head to the lobby entrance or go right and head to the pool. We decided to go left.

544.jpg

We made it up to the front door and realized that it was locked! You had to have a room key to be able to get in! Great. Well, I took a pic of the welcome sign anyways:

545.jpg

As I was doing that, a CM comes out and asks us if we were staying there. We said no and he told us we weren’t allowed in then. Boo. He was just so snotty about it. He could have definitely said things differently. After he went back in, we turned around and looked at each other like “Well then…” They weren’t messing around there. :snooty:

I took a few pics before we went back to the main building…

The MK looked so close!:

546.jpg

We stopped along the path and waited for a monorail to go by:

547.jpg

As you can tell, it looked like it was going to rain any minute. I was hoping it would hold off until the middle of the night while we were sleeping! We were starting to get hungry and it was close enough to our ADR time that we decided to just go check-in.

548.jpg

The lady at the check-in desk was SO nice. She saw our pins and congratulated us. She asked if I had any idea that he was going to propose and when I said no, she just looked at Fiancé and went “Awwww.” haha. She told us to walk through the tunnel and a CM will be waiting to seat us there. Walking in, I could not believe that the area used to be the food court and arcade! I think I mentioned this to Fiancé at least 20 times during our meal, haha. As we walked past the waiting area, I instantly thought of Kristen because she had sent me a pic from there when she was there with Chris. As the CM took us to our table, I think my jaw was dropped the whole way. It was so beautiful in there. I had been anticipating seeing how the restaurant looked and to finally be there was surreal.

After looking over the menu, I told Fiancé that we have to bring Mom, Dad, and Sis here in July. They would love it. Our server came over and she was either not having a good day or just not friendly. She quickly took our drink orders without even looking up at us then walked away. Okay then…We weren’t going to let her ruin our meal. By the time she brought our drinks, we knew what we wanted to order. We were doing the dining plan for this meal, but I was able to order the Wave Appetizer for 2 and have it count as an entrée. It was SO good. It had sautéed sea scallops, rock shrimp, and crab cakes. For dessert, I had the Creamy Indulgence, which is The Wave’s signature dessert. It comes out on this long plate that has three little square sections to it. In each section is a little different dessert, which were: Cheesecake with Raspberry Coulis, Coconut Panna Cotta with Passion Fruit Drizzle, and Chocolate-Passion Fruit Mousse with Pecan-Olive Brittle. All I can say is YUM! Fiancé had the Angus Chuck Bacon Burger, which came with your choice of coleslaw or potato wedges. Fiancé chose the coleslaw. He also had the Creamy Indulgence for dessert. Both of our meals were amazing. I really recommend The Wave to anyone!

After we were done eating and had to be rolled out of there, haha, we headed up to the concourse level. We really wanted to go out onto the observation deck, which we had found recently on a previous trip. We think it would be amazing to watch Wishes from there! When we went out, we saw that the entrance to the BLT walkway is out there! But it was locked, and again, you had to have a room key to get in! Darn it! While I was looking at the Castle and just taking it all in, I take a pic of the walkway…

549.jpg

…and realize that Fiancé is in it! He sees me and motions for me to come over to the door and he let me in. I said to him “What are you doing?! How did you get in here?!” He says, “I just waited for a family to go in and followed them.” I about died! He told me to relax and just enjoy the view since we weren’t really doing anything wrong. And here’s when the million pics start taking place. I have to say though, it is REALLY windy up on the walkway. I had my hood up and was leaning all weird ways to keep my hair out of my face so I could take the pics. So please appreciate the great lengths that I went to while getting them for you! Haha:

You can see the top of WL great from up there:

550.jpg

Down on the ground, you can see the intersection we were at that I mentioned earlier:

551.jpg

Down further on the walkway was Fiancé, my rebel, haha:

552.jpg

The BLT lobby entrance, where we encountered the mean CM, haha:

553.jpg

Wow, the view of the MK was so great from up there. I can’t imagine how great of a view people staying in BLT have from their rooms!:

555.jpg

The sun was finally starting to come out!

I ducked down a little and you could see a monorail coming from the GF to the MK:

556.jpg

So I stood there and waited for the monorail to leave the MK and get to the Contemporary:

558.jpg

I made my way closer to BLT. Here’s a view of the main building:

561.jpg

I kept telling Fiancé, “Can you believe we were down there?! Right there!”

We got a glimpse of the BLT pool:

562.jpg

Ahh..here’s a better view of the Castle:

563.jpg

A WDW bus pulling up to the Contemporary bus stops:

564.jpg

One of the Contemporary/WL/FW boats was at the Contemporary dock:

565.jpg

By the time I had made my way to the BLT building, I realized that Fiancé was in there! I kept thinking to myself, “Great. We’re going to get caught. We’re going to get kicked out. And we’ll be banned from WDW for forever!” But then, another part of me kept thinking how cool it was we were finally able to see what BLT looked like on the inside! Being a DVC member, we always take pics of the rugs of Resorts we stay at. Even though we weren’t staying there, I still had to take a pic of it since it’s DVC:

566.jpg

I didn’t take any pics once we got inside, but all we did was walk all the way down the hallway and looked out a window out to the pool. When we made our way back out to the walkway, we couldn’t help but laugh. I texted Dad and Kristen and told them to be ready to “break in” to BLT in July. They have to see the views from the walkway even if we don’t go into the building.

When we made it back to the concourse level in the main building, we decided to look around the gift shop. They had some cute things in there, but it’s all stuff that we have already seen in just about every other WDW gift shop! Haha. We headed over to Chef Mickey’s so I could get a pic and say “See you in July!”

567.jpg

Then, we decided to catch a boat over to WL, so we headed down the escalators to the lobby level. Before we went out the sliding glass doors, I turned and got one last look at the lobby. I thought to myself, “The next time I’ll be here, the little guy will be with, I’ll be meeting Kristen, and it will be the best trip ever.” :cloud9:

As we walked outside, I wanted to take a pic of the refurbed pool:

568.jpg

We can’t wait to go swimming there!

Too bad about that stuck-up CM...I wonder what would have happened if you said "yes, we are DVC members?" Haha. But love that you guys were able to sneak in regardless! That is totally something my friends and I would do ;)

I've been wanting to eat at the Wave for so long now, it looks delicious! The desserts especially sound yummy!
