~Our March 'Just Engaged',freezing,and full of surprises trip~Updated 6/23 p.76

Great update!!! Glad you liked Yak and Yeti! We have not tried it yet, it is a must do!

What a GREAT tip to get drinks and watch the parade go by. How relaxing! Just love the music from that parade  Can't wait to see if you get sick on Dinosaur  That ride scares me SO much

Loved the update. Glad you returned safely from your safari. I've never seen the ostrich so active, I don't have a fear of birds but that might just do the trick. We had lunch at Yak & Yeti too, for us it was just okay except for desert, that was the best.:thumbsup2 Did you hit the trail behind the tree that passes the waterfall? I love that trail and there usually isn't anyone on it. You're the third person to suggest the "lost on safari" drink, I'm going to have to make a real effort to try it someday.

I agree with you... they need to get rid of the dumb story on the safari ride and maybe have the driver talk a little more about what we are looking at. 1/2 the time you can't hear the transmissions and have no idea what they are saying through the broken intercoms.

Glad you liked your Y&Y food... no pics? :confused3

I've always wanted to stop at the bar in Harambee and have a drink... it just hasn't happened yet. But it will someday ::yes::

Still wondering what you did at night... :confused3

It's so funny that you mentioned the cast member who used to stand by the truck. I remember thinking that they must get SO bored doing the same thing all day long & standing there all by themselves w/ a fake elephant!

That drink sounds awesome. It sounds perfect for a hot day at AK. That is going on the list for next time.

I have to say that I have only seen the lion 1 time on the safari. 1 time!!! And he was sleeping. The other times there has not even been a sign of him.

Thanks! Yes, Yak and Yeti is a favorite of ours! I can't wait to see what the rest of the family thinks of it. I really hope you try it sometime!

You should check out the Dawa bar!

Thanks! It was crazy seeing the ostrich yelling at that animal!

I think we did do that trail!

You have to try that drink!

I know, they just need to give up that story!

Haha..no..I never ended up taking food pics.

You have to check out the Dawa bar. It's such a nice place to relax.

Haha, glad you remember it too!

I hope you try it!

Haha, that lion likes to mess with us!

Day 5 continued: March 17, 2010

We left off heading out of Africa behind the parade crowd. It was time for us to ride Dinosaur for the 2nd time of the day with our FP’s. Seriously, can you imagine WDW without FP’s anymore? I remember the time before they existed. There was this one trip when we were younger…the trip when Sis and I finally decided to conquer our fears and ride Splash Mountain for the 1st time. That’s how long ago this memory is from! Dad gets motion sickness and unfortunately cannot ride many of the major rides with us, so it was just Mom, Sis, and I going. It was the middle of the summer, so it was really hot out and this was the perfect ride to cool down. Since FP’s were not in existence yet, we had no choice but to accept the wait time as it was and get in line. Sadly for us, the wait was over 2 hours! We can still remember all the weaving around…and we can remember how crazy our nerves were getting the closer and closer we got to loading. Once we finally got on, we sat all together in one row, with Mom in the middle. I remember we were freaking out about there not being a lap bar or anything, HAHA. So, I can still remember Mom having her arms across me and Sis. By the end of the trip, we finally got Dad on it to see if he could handle it. It’s now one of his favorite rides.

Okay…story time over! Back to AK! We decided to cut through the Tree of Life trail and hopefully bypass the parade and crowd. By the time we made it to the exit, we met up with the end of the parade again! So, we hurried across when we saw the chance. As we were walking towards Dinoland, this lady starts walking towards us. She asked us if we would like her two Dinosaur FP’s! :woohoo: Of course we said yes! We thanked her and thanked her before she went back to her family. That was such a great surprise! So, here we are…walking to Dinosaur to use FP’s twice! We couldn’t help but laugh the rest of the way.

While we were in line to go into the pre-show, we saw some of the craziest outfits on people celebrating St. Patty’s Day. I’m talking about completely decked out in green..and shamrocks..the whole deal. One girl was wearing these huge, oversized clown glasses. I just don’t see how they would have been fun to wear the whole day!! :confused3

Soon, we found ourselves back in the pre-show room..up against the back wall…quoting the lines with them..again. We crack ourselves up. haha. Once we made it back to the loading area, we got off our time rover, and headed out the gift shop. We were happy that our drinks were safely staying in our stomachs. :rotfl: Instead of going right and ending up in that gift shop by Dino-Rama, we went straight to get back in the FP line. Of course, both the CM checking your FP return time and the CM taking FP’s inside sort-of gave us a double look like “You look really familiar. Didn’t I just see you?” haha. Before we knew it, we were buckling ourselves back in a time rover. That’s when we had a not so pleasant surprise. We weren’t moving; neither were any of the other time rovers. A few minutes later, the lights all came on and the music/noises stopped. We looked at each other and said “Grrrrrrrreat!” :headache: After a few more minutes of sitting, two men randomly appeared with flashlights. They stopped and talked to the loading CM’s before heading into what looked like a control room or something. A few minutes later, the lights shut off and the music/noises resumed. Yay! :yay: All together, we were sitting there for at least 15 to 20 minutes, which felt like hours at the time, haha. I was just worried that it was going to break down again while we were on the actual ride. I know that I do not want to see that place with the lights on. It would just make me see everything differently and ruin a bit of the “magic”.

After our 3rd round of Dinosaur for the day, we decided we were ready to head over to DTD for the night. We haven’t been to DTD during nighttime in a really long time! Now, we just had to figure out how to get there. As we were heading to the bus stops, we made the plan to hop on the OKW bus to say hi to “home”, then ride the boat to DTD. Well, as we made it to the OKW bus stop and saw that the Saratoga Springs bus was already there waiting! So, there was a quick change of plans. We decided to just go to SS instead of waiting who knows how long for an OKW bus. Of course, we had to go right by OKW to get to SS, which made me completely sad. I just stared out the window as we went by “home”. When we had made it completely past OKW, I turned to Fiancé and gave him the sad face. He just laughed at me and said “You know we’ll be back there in July!” So, I texted Kristen and she sympathized with me. Thanks for being there girl! haha

When we pulled into SS, we decided to get off at the first bus stop we went to. Dawn, I thought of you the whole time we were there! This bus stop was crazy busy! There were no seats open on any of the benches, so we found a spot to lean against a wall. Soon after our bus left, an Epcot bus pulled up. A guy that had been waiting started getting really mad. Apparently he and his family had been waiting for a DTD bus for quite awhile now. He made that quite apparent and let the bus driver and all of us know how mad he was. Seriously dude, calm down! I understand how frustrating it can be to wait a really long time for a bus…but you can’t let that ruin your whole day! We’ve definitely learned that there’s going to be a lot of waiting involved at WDW and to just roll with the punches. The trip is much less stressful that way!

Okay..so that bus pulls away. A few minutes later, another Epcot bus pulls up. Oh man, that guy was fuming again. This time, he just stayed with his family, but I could hear him complaining to them. Finally, a DTD pulled up. We did not realize how many bus stops SS has! We’ve only been to SS once when we ate at the Turf Club a few trips back. It’s a beautiful Resort. Again, it’s so much fun to take the time to explore new Resorts because Disney really pays a lot of attention to every single detail. Also, I absolutely love the walk-in pool that we saw near the main building.

When we had finally left SS, we were quickly pulling into the Marketplace bus stops. We really had no idea SS was that close to DTD!! Walking into the Marketplace was really weird without the rest of my family. This is one of our favorite places to spend a “relaxing day”. We shop, eat, and enjoy drinks from the margarita stand. :cloud9:

Right after we walked under the entrance…

We walked by the Christmas shop. For those of you don’t know me, we must always make a stop here. Sis, Fiancé, and I each get to pick out an ornament to eventually put on our Christmas tree later in the year. Since the family was not with, we decided not to even go in the store. We just couldn’t. It wouldn’t be right! haha. So, I just took a pic and said “See you in July!”

It had been awhile since we had lunch at Yak & Yeti, so we were getting pretty hungry. That led us to our next decision: where to eat!?!

~Up next:

Where do we end up for dinner?...and the rest of our DTD night

Ooooh, I see another update. But, I have to do a bit of homeshooling with the kiddos right now. I'll have to read it in the afternoon. Can't wait!!!

It is so good! Ooooh, the Pina Colava sounds interesting!

Oh its so good, frozen raspberry puree with bacardi razz and bacardi pina colada mix. A must try :thumbsup2

Wow don't know what I would have done if we had been stuck on Dinosaur for 20mins. I love how you were able to ride it twice in a row :teeth:

We did exactly the same things as you when we went from a park to DTD. We went to BW and waited forever for a DTD bus, at least 40mins

Whereabouts is the trail for the Tree of Life?

So nice to get some free Fastpasses. The lady probably thought you guys looked like just the right sweet couple to be nice to. :thumbsup2

We like to visit all of the places we have stayed previously, but now that that list has grown so long, it's getting impossible. Jill wanted to go over to POFQ to get a chicken quesadilla before we left Sunday, but we ended up going to DTD instead. There's just not time to visit every place, unfortunately.

I agree with you on the chilling out part for the angry man. It is frustrating, but just know there's going to be some waiting and there is going to be some aggravation, so move on with your happy vacation. Guess he didn't realize he could have walked to DTD from there.

I remember the Splash line before Fast Pass! Brutal! I think they invented FP because of that line! ;)

The first time DH & I went to WDW together, we made a tactical error at the mountains... the posted stand-by time was about the same at both, but the FP return time was closer on BTMRR, so we FP'ed that, and got in the Splash stand-by line. What a mistake! Not only was the line twice as long as the posted wait time (at least), we were also behind two very poorly behaved children and their father - he kept threatening them to try to make them behave, but when the threats didn't work, he didn't follow through. :headache: By the time we got to the front of the line, we were DONE with MK completely. And in fact, on our next two trips together (a weekend trip for Food & Wine Festival, and a 3-day stay on our honeymoon before we left for our Disney cruise), we skipped MK completely! :scared1: That line at Splash was enough to make us completely avoid the entire park for almost 2 years!!!

I really love your mentality about waiting in WDW! It's a theme park, they offer free transportation, there are thousands of other people in WDW at the same time; it's inevitable! I am looking forward to my next trip immensely because I AM GOING WITH THIS ATTITUDE or else. Last trip I was so concerned with fitting everything in that I let little things bother me. This time, we are spending 6 full days and 2 half days and it is going to be my 5th trip, so I am just going to let myself relax a lot more and let myself enjoy WDW in a leisurely way. :)

That stinks that Dinosaur had tech. problems while you were in the rover all ready to go. Perhaps it was the WDW "gods" way of saying, "Hey, now 2 FP rides in a row? I don't think so!" :lmao:

So instead of going to your "home" you went to my "home" instead! :goodvibes We really like how close SSR is to DTD. The first time we stayed there though we took the boat over to DTD. Then we realized there was a walking path that was much quicker! LOL. Aww can't wait to stay there again. :goodvibes

Oh my, that sounds like my kind-of drink!

We were really hoping that they weren't going to make us get off!

I couldn't believe how long it took until a DTD bus came!

Okay, I'll try to explain this the best I can haha...As you're walking towards Africa, Pizzafari will be on your left. Right before you enter Africa, the trail will be to your right. You really have to be looking for it or you might miss it!

Aw thanks MeMom!

Haha, isn't that just a shame. You've been to so many places that it's hard to visit them all?! :lmao: Okay, seriously...it does make me sad not visiting places we've stayed. When we stay somewhere, I get a little sentimental towards it.

I know! He should've just walked if he was in such a hurry!

I remember the Splash line before Fast Pass! Brutal! I think they invented FP because of that line! ;)

Ugh! It was horrible! Whoever invented FP is amazing. :worship:

Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry to hear about that!! I just could not imagine skipping out on MK completely though!

Haha, I always forget that SS is your "home" too! For some reason I keep thinking that the Y&BC is yours. :confused3

It's so good, can't wait to order it on our arrival night to watch Wishes :teeth:

Thanx for the directions, will defo look out for that pathway. Really don't want to go through ITTBAB again :sad2:

I thought you were going to say that you got some kind of special fastpasses when Dinosaur! broke down. My family doesn't like that ride a whole lot, so I doubt that we'll be going on it this summer.

Back to Back Dino rides, what a treat! This is one of DH's favorite rides. We usually use the mentality of taking whatever bus gets here first too especially for DTD and getting to another resort.

Great update! I can't believe you rode Dinosaur three times. What fun!

I'm glad you got to go home to OKW. How sad to see your "home" and not be able to stay there. We'll be staying at OKW next June - I can't wait! :cheer2: (I've never been before to OKW)

:lmao: it does make it more fun to yell! Chris will yell, "OMG I'm so scared for this ride to go upside down!!" on EE to hopefully scare the ppl who have never been on it before since it doesn't actually go upside down

hahahahahahah :rotfl: i'm going back through and catching up on tink's updates and i couldn't help but comment on this. chris is so funny! i can picture him saying that in my head right now. i wonder how many people he scared when he said that out loud... SUCKAAAAAAAS! ;)

Seriously, can you imagine WDW without FP’s anymore?

I know, seriously!! I don't know what we'd do without them!

Some people reeeaaallly get into St Patty's Day that's for sure!

i'm finally all caught up with your trip report! it took me long enough huh?! sorry girl! aw, i know exactly what you mean though about passing certain stores/rides and thinking about the rest of your family and not being able to do it. i remember passing coral reef on our last trip and wishing the rest of the family was with us... my little brother walked out with his fork and cloth napkin and we all just couldn't stop laughing. we were like, "seriously?! how random is that?!" hahaha. :goodvibes you're right though.. it's those kind of memories that make it so much fun!
