~Our March 'Just Engaged',freezing,and full of surprises trip~Updated 6/23 p.76

Hi Again!

Sorry for not being here much lately! The long weekend kept me from keeping up!

Before I continue on with the updates, though, I wanted to answer one question that I saw. You wondered what those pink cotton ball trees were. We grew up with those in So.Cal and we always called them 'fairy dusters". I don't know what the real name is, but I'll google it now for you. Maybe my mom will know too.

Here's a link to what I just found

Ok, back to reading.

:)

You are awesome Liesa! I will check that link out!

PHew! I made it! You've taken me from lunch at Yak and Yeti to drinks and parades at the Dawa- which by the way, after reading your report, is OFFICIAL. The official Liesa's Trip Journal Update place is the Dawa!! With a Safari drink in my hand. It is of the adult sort, right?? Who knows what kind of fantastical nonsense I can come up with an adult beverage in one hand and a pen in the other. :lmao:

Checking in this morning, as I try to catch up with all my reports. Sadly, we did not make it all the way around World Showcase. It was too hot and time was too short. The decision had to be made about walking around World Showcase or going back to AKL to let Brooklynn enjoy the slide and just give both girls some time to cool down in the water. Of course, we chose down time and swim time for the sake of everyone, because when the kids aren't in good moods, no one can be happy. We saw the Butterfly Garden, Tink & Fairies area, and Princess & Frog area, and then Canada and UK on our way to the boat to go over to Hollywood to visit Bo and get a picture in his lifeguard gear for Chelsea. Trent ran back to get a picture at Star Tours Happydog had requested for her boys' countdown calendar. We were in and out of Hollywood in twenty minutes and on our way back to AKL for water fun.

We talked about how much we regretted not seeing all of WS, of course, but we plan to be back in March next year, so we'll do more F&G stuff then. It made it so much easier since we've been able to see the rest of the F&G things through the reports of so many DIS friends. :)

Thanks for getting caught up! :worship: How are you and the baby doing?

we are doing good. i'm just getting used to my growing belly and he's starting to be very active. i think he was practicing some karate this morning around 6:00!

Love the safari pics! I've never taken a picture of the sign with all the animals in the jeep. Our first time at AK was Jan 09, so there was no CM with a gun at the end of the safari. That would make me crazy if that was my job! How boring!

I might have to look into getting one of those drinks you guys had. It looks fruity and delicious!!! We've never seen the AK parade because we're always done with the park pretty quickly. I don't know if we'll have time for it in Sept!!!

Aw I love all of your Safari pics. It's making me wish I was there right now!

But OMG. That ostrich is sooooooo scary. Ostriches are #1 on my list of creepiest animals. Ever since I was little and saw that episode of Full House where Kimmy Gibler has an ostrich in her back yard, I've been terrified. So seeing an ostrich all angry like that one would be terrifying!

But DUCKLINGS! They are the opposite of ostriches and are so darn adorable! I could watch their fuzzy little selves all day long.

Yes! It really is a nice place to sit and relax. Hopefully those performers will be there when you're there. They were so fun to watch. Plus, you have to try the Safari drink. Yep, it is definitely an alcoholic drink!

Oh boy...I can't wait to see what you come up with! :rotfl:

Hi MeMom! Glad to talk to you again.

I completely understand about the heat and not making it all the way around WS. It is just sometimes too hard.

Wow, I think that has to be the fastest I've heard of anyone being at a park!

Yeah, March is such a nice time to go!! Glad I could help with the F&G stuff this year!

we are doing good. i'm just getting used to my growing belly and he's starting to be very active. i think he was practicing some karate this morning around 6:00!

Haha, he just wants to make sure you know he's there!

Thanks!

I know, it was a cool part of the ride, but that had to have been boring standing there all day.

'Lost on a Safari' was SOO good! I hope you try it.

Thanks! I know..me too!

Haha, and the ostrich kept nibbling at Uncle Jesse's head and he would be like, "No!! Not the hair!!"

The babies were soooooooo fun to watch. I wish I had the part on video when the mom yelled at them for getting too close to the flamingoes.

not sure if someone already said or not, but i read it in my behind the magic book that those eggs are fake.

I'm afraid he's right, Tink. As are the Baobab trees out there. Which are fako-bako feeders. ;)

I figured they were fake!

Fake or not, I think they add a really nice touch of "reality" and sweetness to the ride. I mean, let's face it--- the enitre Jungle Cruise if fake, and it's a Fast Pass attraction, right?? ;)

Once we got sat down and situated, we of course had to take the usual Safari pic that most of you have probably taken:

456.jpg

It's a great idea to take a picture of this...that way you don't have to take any pictures on the ride. It reminds me of a comedian who once said, "I just read the dictionary -- I figure it's got all of the other books in it."

I thought these things were so cool! They looked like hot pink cotton balls. Does anyone know what they really are?:

466.jpg

They look like something out of a Dr. Seuss book.

Ahh..one of my favorite things about the KS- the upside down tree. I don’t know why I like it so much. I guess I just find it fascinating.:

467.jpg

Me too, but I always wonder "why am I taking yet another picture of this tree?"

On our left, we were approaching the lion area…or what I like to call “Pride Rock” as a shout-out to The Lion King. Of course, this guy was sleeping!:

483.jpg

I have never seen that guy not sleeping!

It's great that you found the trail that takes you up close to the Tree of Life. It's pretty cool!

You're right..that's so true!

Haha, that is funny!

They do look like something from Dr. Seuss!

I know..I have a picture of that tree from every trip. Why do I keep snapping a pic of it?! haha

The Tree of Life trail is so neat!

I am really excited about the expansion. I just hope they wait to close down Toontown until AFTER our trip in July. It is my little guy's 1st trip there and I really want him to see Mickey and Minnie's houses.

I really cannot wait for it all to be done. It's going to be amazing.

Hopefully your little guy will get to see it before it goes :goodvibes Sounds like its going to be a great trip, esp seeing as its his first :)

Loving the latest update. Its cool when there are two of you and a CM shouts "looking for twos" :teeth:

The little duck family are so cute, you can't help but fall in love with those little guys :cutie:

The Lost on Safari cocktails sound yummy, whats in them? Might have to stake out the Dawa bar like you guys did during parade time too, cocktails and a parade sounds like a good combi :)

Glad you remember. :)

I read somewhere that they won't be closing until later this year or beginning of next year. So hopefully it's right!

I love it when we have the amount the CM is looking for! I secretly jump up and down.

It was such a fun time sitting at the Dawa bar and watching the parade. The 'Lost on a Safari' is made up of Bacardi light rum, Captain Morgan’s spiced rum, fruit punch!

Ooh sounds yummy, so getting one of those :teeth: Love the Disney cocktails, the Pina Colava at the Poly is my absolute fav :cloud9:

Oh that would be good if it did close later this year or early next :)

Even though it was raining you guys still had a good safari! I hate that the lion is ALWAYS sleeping...all I'm asking is for ONE TIME that he be awake :headache:

I agree! No matter how good KS is, the lion running about and roaring and hoping some badly behaved passenger does not keep their arms and legs inside the vehicle(:rotfl:) would definitely add a little extra something! Your photos of the safari were great, and will try and remember to take a picture of the overhead board!

I loved the part in the Hidden Magic book about the tree of life and can't wait to explore it properly! every photo I see of it just makes me more excited!

Hey girl! I am still here, still loving your tr! Man life just gets sooooo crazy. I'm ready for the Disney summer trip. (still disappointed we will be missing each other by mere days!!)

Man, I can't wait for AK...it's so hard to believe you are in Florida there!! The heat that is USUALLY there helps too...I can imagine the African savannah and Asian jungles being that hot and humid! :rotfl: I think it would be kinda nice to be able to explore when it was cooler there like you did!!

The Lost on a Safari sounds delish!! Thats going on my list for my April 2011 trip!! :rotfl2: Can't wait for more!! I'll be trying to update/be around more!!

P.S. The lion on the safari was awake on my trip, everyone!! Granted, he was still just laying there, but he was DEFINITLEY awake!!

Thanks. Glad you enjoyed the pics!

Wasn't that part of the book so interesting?!
