~Our March 'Just Engaged',freezing,and full of surprises trip~Updated 6/23 p.76

i'm playing catch-up and going backwards since i have no idea where i left off and it's easier that way!

He would hang there upside down…then one time, he reached up with his “hands” to hang up right side so he could…uh…relieve himself. It was so funny seeing him hang right side up so he wouldn’t get anything on his face. HAHA.

well, at least we know bats are smart enough not to urinate in their own face! :lmao:

Right at the end of the MJT was ANOTHER bird area. This time, a bird seriously flew past my head and hit my hair! It was crazy in there!

i always grab ray's hand, close my eyes and speed walk through this area! :scared1:

We said ‘bye’ to the EE area and headed over to the tea stand across from Yak & Yeti. I had never really noticed the stand until I read about it on the DIS! As we walked up, we realized that there was already quite a line. That told us the drinks must be pretty good! While we were standing in line, we realized that they were having troubles with one of the cash registers. So, we all had to order at one register instead of the two, which slowed things down a bit. But, this gave us enough time to check out the menu and decide what we wanted. They had cold and hot drinks. Since it was freezing that day, we decided to go the hot drink route. But, we are definitely planning on coming back and trying a cold drink in July!

i got a frozen chai tea (or something like that) once there and it was very yummy!

Even though it was raining you guys still had a good safari! I hate that the lion is ALWAYS sleeping...all I'm asking is for ONE TIME that he be awake :headache:

I've never been down the Tree of Life trail either! Hopefully it's not toooo hot and we can check it out in July.

Yummmm, a Lost on Safari! I have to give credit to Jackie (Charleston Princess) for inspiring me to try that one. Sooo good, definitely on the July list :thumbsup2

Aww, I love when we listen to DIS radio "together." I hope we get to see the Jammin' Jungle Parade in July if we make it that late in AK :goodvibes

Awww! the little duckies are so cute! Its cool you got to sit and relax while watching the parade, I love that parade!!

Yes! I remember the cast member that used to stand by the jeep on KS! Everytime we rode it I'd say, "that's his job! He just stands there! Must be nice!" :rotfl: Well, maybe not so nice in the heat!!

Those performers are great aren't they?

Yay! You remember that too!! That must've been so boring standing there all day though!

Hey Dawn! Glad you are catching up!

Haha, yes..we know they are smart enough not to do that!

I promised Kristen I will hold her hand and quickly walk through this area with her!

I can't wait to try a cold drink!

I know! I want to see that lion up and moving!

We have to do the Tree of Life trail!!

So glad Jackie got you to try it!!

I love when we listen to it together too!! I really want to watch the parade with the little guy so hopefully it won't be too hot when we're there that day.

Awww! the little duckies are so cute! Its cool you got to sit and relax while watching the parade, I love that parade!!

They were so cute for sure!

It is such a nice parade!

someone probably already told you this but there was probably a hippo hiding in that big tank of water where you saw the fish fighting. they are always SO hard to see. usually they look like a big rock!

too bad you missed the baby gorilla! did you like watching the gorillas though? i just love them. they are my fav. i just find them so amazing. i love to watch their expressions and imagine what they're thinking!

Ok... lots to post here, let's see if I can remember it all...
1. I have never taken that pic that lists all the animals!!! I never thought of it... I have to do it now when we go at the end of the month!
2. I know the music you are talking about on the safari! In fact I was listening to live365 at work (I'm a teacher and let the kids listen every now and again when we have some down time) and it came on. I sent one of my kids next door to get my friend that we are going on vaca with and was so excited for her to listen and she couldn't remember the music! So I texted Tim and asked if he remembered and he didn't either!! I told them they both would once they hear it lol
3. I would like to know about those eggs too.. They are always in the same place in the same position throughout the years, so I would guess decoration. The ostrich chasing the other animal would make me hyperventilate... look at those wings!
4. Tell me about THIS drink now... what is it and where is it? It looks delicious!

Oh man, I will have to look next time!

The gorillas were so neat!! It was so much fun watching that one that was sitting up next to the glass.

Wow..you did lots of reading!!

That's so neat you let the kids listen!

The drink is called "Lost on a Safari"..you can get it at the Dawa Bar in Africa. It's right next to the Tusker House restaurant!!

How cool, I didn't know Yak & Yeti restaurant had an upstairs! They have a CS too, don't they?

Aww the ducklings are so cute, I love how they just follow their mama around.

The drinks at the drink stands in AK always look so good, I have to try one!

loved the rope drop pics at AK!

Now…are you ready for some hilarious pics?! Fiancé has the camera, so he tells me that he’s going to go walk around and take pics since I was ready to go in Basin. Little did I know, he was lying! He hid behind a pole and took “paparazzi pics” of me! Oh yep, texting Kristen again…:

 this reminds me of anna during our NYC trip. i felt like i was being stalked by the paps!

My problem is though…I wouldn’t want to use any of the bar soaps and ruin them! haha

me too! i have one of "florida sunshine" (thanks, memom!) in my guest bathroom that no one has ever used! it's more for decoration.

The kids get a kick out of my disney obsession and they enjoy the music. Usually we only listen if there are no words because I can get away with instrumental music not distracting them (we listen to my disney fairy tale wedding music all the time while they work bc it is all instrumental and calming).

By the time we go to Disney I am going to have a huge list of drinks I need to try bc you make them sound so fantastic!

Yep, Yak & Yeti has both TS and CS places! The TS place is both downstairs and upstairs. There's also a bar in the downstairs.

You have to try a drink!

It was so exciting seeing our first rope drop!

Aw..that was so nice of MeMom! I could never use it!

We were just watching the fish swim by and I talked about how Uncle Joey and Uncle Jesse did their radio show from in there (That’s a Full House reference for all you fans!)..when we saw some divers jump in from the top! Soon more divers jumped in too! They stayed at the top for a few minutes, then made their way under water. The group of divers were all watching a few instructors, who kept giving everyone the ok sign, which they had to give back to them to say they were alright. Then, they started swimming, and that’s when a whole group of people run up to the glass next to us. They had video cameras out filming and cameras out taking pics. The little boy in the group kept yelling “That’s my daddy!” It was so cute! They were all the family of the group of people scuba diving! It was so neat to watch them all excited and enjoying the experience with the group in the water. As they’d swim out of view from one glass window, they’d run to the next one so they could still see them. We watched the divers for awhile, then decided to head back out to FW.

very cool! i wonder if this is what erica did a couple years ago? she did a "dolphins in depth" tour at epcot and got to swim with the dolphins. although i don't think they actually went scuba diving, but i'm not sure.

i have a question about there being no bus at epcot for the GF. so i'm assuming there's not one for the poly or the contemporary, either? i'm making a quick "how to get around disney" guide for my clients and i didn't realize there was no bus from epcot to those 3 resorts. i obviously knew you could ride the monorail, but i just assumed that a bus was an option, too.

Yay for the safari! I could ride that all day. I love how it's always different.

The Tree of Life trails are so nice too. :thumbsup2 It's so peaceful and not crowded!

I thought these black flowers were pretty cool:

VERY cool! i want some for my butterfly garden.

We made our way into Morocco’s shops and wow, they were beautiful! I felt like I had stepped into a real-life version of Aladdin.

i LOVE morocco! it's my favorite country. i love all the tilework and the authentic feel of it. i always recommend to clients that they check out the little stores in the back. it feels like a real moroccan marketplace!

Now, this Pick a Pearl was much more exciting. The CM working there was SO excited and enthusiastic about her job. It was the kind of energy and kindness that I have longed to see from all CM’s at WDW. You know, the kind of CM’s you would see everywhere you went back in the day. Now, CM’s like this are a rare find- a dime a dozen.

have you guys ever eaten at teppan edo? all the CMs there are just like this....so excited about their job and SO friendly!

We watched her for awhile, then continued on our walk through the shops. It seemed to go on for miles!

ray loves that store. if he could pick any country to visit it would be japan so that explains why. i like it but he could spend all day in there. in fact, last trip after we got a spot for illuminations near italy, i told him i'd save our spot so he could go shop there some more until illuminations started. i knew he wanted to go explore some more in there!

Aw, Farmer Mickey and Minnie. They were so cute!:

awww....i love his glasses!

We kept walking and finally saw the stand with the grey goose slushies! Of course, we had to get one. I found us a table nearby while Fiancé got our drink. Oh my gosh, seriously- everyone must try this! It was SO good.

yum!!!!! one of my favorites. next time try the orange grand marnier one. they are both soooo good! it's hard to decide which one i like better. i do have to say, though, the hidden gem that is the peach schnapps frozen oolong tea from the drink stand in china has them both beat!

phew....think i'm caught up!

I love the Safari! It is an awesome attraction, and very informational for kids.

Also, we've never been to Yak and Yeti, but I'll have to go someday.

Being a group of 2 is definitely a plus! It only worked on one day when DBF and I went to DHS by ourselves, but boy, did it come in handy!

WHOA, what a great ostrich action shot!

I thought a bus was an option too! But nope, no bus for the 3 monorail resorts at Epcot!!

Isn't the safari so much fun?!

We hardly saw anybody!

It is a completely different trip just the two of us!

Thanks!

Hi Again!

Sorry for not being here much lately! The long weekend kept me from keeping up!

Before I continue on with the updates, though, I wanted to answer one question that I saw. You wondered what those pink cotton ball trees were. We grew up with those in So.Cal and we always called them 'fairy dusters". I don't know what the real name is, but I'll google it now for you. Maybe my mom will know too.

Here's a link to what I just found

Ok, back to reading.

:)
