Our Magical Gathering Trip Report

I might actually finish this day today!

So we were still walking to the World Showcase. We were lucky because even though the Flower and Garden festival was over, all of the topiary were still up. Here's Stitch:

We headed towards Mexico. The ground was very wet, and the steps to the Mexico building were extremely slick. Has anyone else noticed this? This is an accident waiting to happen.

Will and I outside Mexico.

We went inside and it was so nice and cool and dark. There was no wait for the ride so we all got on. Except that Papa couldn't step down into the ride because he was in too much pain. This was the first of many rides that he simply could not transfer on to. It was so sad for everyone but he wanted us to enjoy the rides and just waited for us outside. The ride was fun but was kind of ruined by the Papa situation and the fact that the woman sitting in front of us was drenched in perfume and we were all gagging on it. Yuck.

When we got off of the ride Billy and I were hungry and the restaurant smelled so good. We decided that we would make an ADR for later in the week to eat here.
At this point it was almost 7:00 and we needed to eat and feed Gemma before finding a spot for Illuminations. Amanda and her crew wanted to do all of the Kidcot stops, so we split up at this point. Everyone was getting a little cranky due to hunger. We still wanted to eat at Morocco, but I was hungry and Morocco is a long way from Mexico! Billy told me to stick it out and that we would be at Morocco soon. Mimi and Papa did not want Moroccan food and went to eat in America. We had a really good meal. We got to sit outside and listen to Mo'Rockin. It was a magical Disney moment for my little family. Yes, Gemma was fussing and I had to feed her and wrestle her at the table, but it was still good. Here's some pics:

We started to walk back to America to meet Mimi and Papa and it just started pouring! We ran to the "front porch" of the America building and stood under there. I knew they would do the fireworks even in the rain, but I wanted to see them! Oh well. I did what I needed to do to liven up the situation: I broke out the Glow Sticks! Amanda found 100 glow sticks on Ebay for 12.95 and we bought them so we could pass them out during our nighttime activities. Will and I handed them out to the kids stuck where we were and everyone got a little happier.

The rain stopped long enough for us to see the last part of the show, and we headed out of the park with the kiddos. Gemma screamed bloody murder the entire way out of Epcot. People were giving me dirty looks! She stopped for a little while and I was able to buy Billy a shirt and hat at Mouse Ears, but then we really left.

When we got back to the hotel, Will was in a good mood. I fed Gemma and he ran in between our connecting rooms and pretended to be a pirate.

We settled down for bed and I slept like the dead. Good thing too, since we had a early morning the next day at the Animal Kingdom!

Up Next: Animal Kingdom

Love the grumpy kid photos, we've all had them :rotfl2:

I love the last photo of Will is his PJ's being a pirate :goodvibes

Aw....Will looks so cute in the dreadlocks. Love your Mickey Ears & Papa looks cool in his Pirate hat, :cool1: sorry about his not being able to ride but he sounds like he has a good attitude about it.

Can't wait to read more.

Sorry it's taken me so long to post...we've been really busy with summertime activities!

On with the show!

Today was our AK day. It was also the day that we all dressed alike. To get an idea of everyone's mood that morning, check this out:

We all headed to the food court for breakfast and all 10 of us actually ate together. Here's Sam enjoying a beinget:
IMG_3616-vi.jpg

Billy and I decided the day before that our monster stroller and two monster kids were too much trouble on the buses...so we were going to drive to AK and everyone else was taking the bus. So, off we went, trying to make rope drop.
IMG_3617-vi.jpg

I love this picture of me and my baby!

I had never done rope drop at the AK, so I was excited and hoped that the kids would enjoy the characters arriving. No one told me that all of this would happen in the blazing sun, no shade, with half a million people all clogged up at the oasis! Never again. My plan was to let everyone else ride the safari, while I ran to get fastpasses for Everest. As soon as they opened the park, I grabbed everyone's tickets and ran for it. After I got the fastpasses, I just hopped on Everest. This was so exciting for me, not just because I hadn't ridden it before, but because I was alone! I am never alone! I always have a baby or a husband or a sister around me. I really loved the ride and I was really exhilarated after riding it. I walked through a practically empty park to the safari to meet the rest of my group. On the way, I picked up a frozen lemonade which was so good. I waited on a bench by where my group would walk out of the safari and talked to a CM named Bill for a while. Finally everyone came out and they all wanted to head over to Everest, which was fine with me. But, of course, Gemma wanted to eat. It was really starting to get hot and Will was very flushed so I decided to take them both to the baby center for a break. The baby center was really nice. I fed Gemma and then we watched some cartoons for a while. At this point the family still wasn't done with Everest. I'm feeling kind of sad at this point, because I was stuck with two babies and nothing to do but wait. And when people say the AK is hotter than the other parks, they truly are not kidding. The heat seemed unbearable on this day. I then got a brilliant idea. The next stop for all of us was FOTLK, so I decided to head down there and let Will meet Goofy, his hero.

I left a message with Billy, telling everyone where to go and we went to Camp Minnie Mickey. The line for Goofy was short, and Will could not believe his eyes when he saw him. I started to cry...thank goodness for photopass!

At this point, Billy showed up and we went to go see Mickey. Again, I lost it and got some tears. Isn't this why we take our kids to Disney? I feel a little teary just thinking about it!

Then we headed to FOTLK and got great seats. The show was wonderful, as usual. See how much Gemma enjoyed it?

Then my little family decided to go back to the hotel for lunch and a nap. Here's a pic of Will on the way out:

With both kids asleep Billy and I posed for some pictures:

Where did you get your matching shirts? We want to order some for our Grand Gathering this Thanksgiving, but the men are picky and do not want anything to childish or feminine looking. Those would work great for us!!:goodvibes

www.disneyshopping.com These shirts are awesome! They're a little stretchy, and fit well. I wear mine all the time.

We headed back to the resort and grabbed some lunch at the food court. I had the first of many cheese steaks that week (yum!) and Will and Billy both ate well. We headed into our room to take a nap, and I went back to the food court to fill my mug up. When I was there, I nearly walked right by Amanda and her crew. They were eating and said that after swimming they were going to go back to the AK to watch the Nemo show. I told Amanda that she needed to slow down and let the kids take naps since they were all exhausted. She did not agree and said they would be fine. I guess swimming could be a bit of a break but Sophie is only 3, and in my opinion she still needs a daily nap, even if she isn't at WDW. They just wanted to see everything they could, and not waste time resting. For some reason this bothered me, because we really weren't spending much time together. Instead of doing stuff as a group, they were doing their own thing and we were doing ours.

I went back to the room and had a bit of a meltdown. I told Billy that our Magical Gathering wasn't even a gathering, we just happened to be at WDW at the same time as my sister's family. I also was sad because we seemed to be getting left behind all the time, just for the simple reason that our family has a lot of different needs. Now that I write this it seems stupid and juvenile to be so upset about this, but I was hot and exhausted. Blame it on the weather! We all took a nap and by the time we woke up, they were leaving to go. I got mad again because my kids weren't awake and I felt a little pressured to go with them. I think I was really just sad that things weren't going the way I wanted them too. Mimi and Papa decided to go with them, then Will woke up and wanted to go with them. So I sent Will with them, and we decided to spend some time with Gemma alone at the AK if she would ever wake up. This thing sounds so stupid now! It seemed like a big deal at the time though. Billy went to get me this snack to cheer me up...it worked!

Gemma woke up and we got in the van and headed back. The first thing we did was go to see Winnie the Pooh and friends. Here are some good shots of Gemma:

Then we headed to Dinoland so Gemma could ride the triceratops spin ride.
IMG_3678-vi.jpg

She doesn't look too terribly thrilled, does she?

About this time Amanda called and said that if we ran, we could make it to the Nemo show. I was still feeling contrary, and we decided to sit it out. I know myself pretty well, and I know that I needed to not be around my sister right then. So, we headed over to Everest to try the single rider line out.

Up next: Everest, rainstorms and bugs.

Gemma's face with Pooh is so cute and I too would have felt like you did with your sister

It doesn't sound silly at all that you were upset about your sister! I totally agree, but I have a feeling that her touring style is gonna catch up with her later, right? Cranky kids, etc? I think you did the right thing to do what you had to do for your family. Hopefully it all works out in the end (but secretly I hope you got to say "told ya so" at least once! :lmao:
