Our little thread of BIG Resort changes*OLD THREAD link on last pg. to new thread!

Went to put Miss M to bed and come back to a bunch of this: popcorn:: Love you ladies. :rotfl2: :grouphug:

MM, we love it at 50's too! Just can't see us going back for a while... quite a while.

It was Sunday evening and we walked right up without a reservation and were seated almost immediately -- this should have been the warning sign.

We'd sat down and ordered, first the drinks then the mains. Had a lovely and not too OTT waitress named Janice. The drinks arrived when I'd heard a slightly odd sound coming from the table across from us. Hubs quickly looks at me and says, "Please. Whatever you do, don't look across the room." But then I heard it again and me being me, I looked. :rolleyes2 It's what I thought I was hearing -- a grown man retching and all the wonderful sights which go with such sounds. That split second glimpse. Eesh. :crazy2: The waitress high-tailed it out of the room when it was happening. :rotfl: (Seriously, nurses are god-like creatures. :worship: Lookin' at you Jeanette. I don't know how you lot can see what you see on a daily basis and are still able to eat.) Miss M thankfully sat there clueless and ate her meal. The only tables which knew what had happened were ours and the table to the right of us. They gave us TSM passes for our pain and suffering. :lmao:

I think the worst part other than the actual SEEING it part was: they had a man with superhuman powers come in and clean it up -- then sat another party down at the table! It immediately made me think of what must have happened at OUR table before.

The evening was thoroughly topped off with a little girl at the table kitty-corner in the opposite direction falling off her seat and slamming onto the floor face-first. :faint: She was fine in the end but oooooof. The Dark Side was out in force that evening... I'm surprised we made it out of there in one piece. :scared:

From that evening onward, anything remotely nausea-inducing or even the slightest bit on the gross side has henceforth been referred to as "a bit 50's Primetime" by hubbo and myself. :rotfl2: Humans will be humans but needless to say, we need a new table service restaurant to try in DHS. :upsidedow

Miss: Oh gag me with a spoon!! :crazy2: We just had a similar incident at my work the other day and the smell lingered for ever!!! Can't imagine trying to eat after that! You did give me a chuckle though!!;)

Question for all the ladies: What are the parks like in July?? Could a childless couple (who shall remain unnamed:rolleyes1) enjoy the parks even though crowd levels would be sustantially higher than what they were used to???

And would said couple enjoy a resort such as CSR with a King bed or AKL with a standard view???

Just askin...:drinking1

Forgot to ask... anyone want to share their opinions of Hollywood Brown Derby?

We had an -- let us just say "unfortunate" non-food or service related -- occurrence at 50's which means we probably won't be returning for a long, looooooong time. :lmao: :crazy2:

I'm kinda up in the air with our 50's ADR and was looking at Brown Derby myself!! Now after reading your experience...eeewww...

Hmmm...tough call! I think I'd go AKL though with a King. :-) or CSR business class King (if that exists). All you can drink Sangria!! (As long as you don't go commando in the parks and can enjoy some of the business class offerings). I would love a long weekend at Disney sans kids...heck, maybe even sans DH too! Lol. But I am dreaming...

Nevermind...DH just read some of the crowd / heat reports from that time and changed his mind!! BTW it was his idea to look into it...not mine!! LOL!!

Too bad...I think 4th of July (despite the crowds) would be awesome for the patriotic fireworks!!

I know, I really wish he wouldn't play these mind games with me. Not nice at all. Where is the pouty faced smilie???:sad2:

/
I can totally handle my own kid's impersonation of The Exorcist but a complete stranger? No way man. :rotfl:

Koh: If you do try out HBD, let me know how you like it. :thumbsup2

Jen: I thought the crowds were going to be more manageable for us going off of what I was remembering from our January trip (day after New Year's, etc.) -- the crowds in the beginning of June were a step too far for us. It was wonderful when we first got there, lightest crowds we'd ever experienced... but then the locusts descended upon Disney and didn't let up. I cannot even begin to imagine how much more crowded July is.... :scared:

Now, with all that said, I still want to put my vote in for AKL standard. :worship:

Hi Peeps!! Guess I can say its officially Happy Hump Day!! Yay! Trying to keep up but work keeps getting in the way of my DIS time... :(

Sue, Hope it was the best bath ever!! Did Calgon really take you away? Waiting for those puppy pix too!

Koh, waiting to the big reveal...hmm maybe a treasure map, keeping with the pirate theme?

Lacey, :wave2:

Jen, that's awesome about DD! We worry so much about our kids and sometimes all they need is a little time and they come into their own.

Oh and :bday: to her!! Having her BFF over for a special night is perfect!

Heather, welcome back!! Your pix are beautiful as always... and your family aren't so bad looking either.....:goodvibes Ya'll could be models for those ads where the family is all happy and having fun ::yes::

Hi Ginny, Safe travels, have a great time at the wedding... you know where to find us when you get back..

Willow, hope the shoulder feels better soon

Wookie, I have a Town & Country van too ... had to get 4 new tires in the fall...luckily there was a promo to get $70 back. And woohoo for today being your last class!!

MM, :rotfl2: Okaayy... the double whammy.... the pinky swear AND the secret hand shake ... oh best not touch that ressie!! :rotfl2:

Miss, OMG with that PT 50s story!! Hey with keeping with the theme, surprised the CM didn't make him clean up his OWN mess!!

So do you want to do the 2014 ToT 10K???? Isn't this the one that is done at night? I really love the idea of a race when it isn't hot!!! I could do a week at Disney and then move over to Universal ....

I'm sitting here laughing .... because I know you don't plan this far in advance and you must be thinking what have I gotten myself into!!! :scared1:

 Linda, you know me very well!! Well I'll do it with you... but the planning has to wait awhile! :goodvibes And Christine... if I am in a race, the idea of Food & Wine is sooo tempting and trumps January! :)

You two SO need to do this together! I wish I could get away to join you ladies. Miss M wouldn't let me go down the street without her, much LESS to Disney. :rotfl: (To be honest, I think the hubster would be MOST jealous of all.)

Miss, bring him along! You then are free to do the ToT with us! ::yes::

I like the idea of BLT...Brian is turning the children...said we should stay all week at Portofino and drive to MK :drive:

Which means ME driving with the girls while he and the boys hang at Universal.....He's killing me  What do I do???He's not saying NO to Disney. UGH

Pas, maybe make it an all Universal trip in July; bring the girls to Disney in December? ::yes:: say around 12/4?

BOTH of us, tag team!!!!

So when is the road trip? :drive:

This made me cry BFF, and I am blessed to have such special ladies in my life pixiedust:

Another warm and fuzzy simultaneous post coming up:grouphug:

We're still on vacation so I'm not thread current:blush:, but had to post about what I've been up to on vacation.

Ginny, where are you when I need you?! DH has had me calling WDTC daily trying to get CL. I usually never call from my iPhone and must have been in vacation mode when I accidentally dialed 1-800 instead of 1-407 and ended up on some adult chat line:rotfl2:. After calling daily, I did get CL just now for WL:goodvibes, which probably won't surprise any of you that I changed to Old Faithful.

We have an "ADR" here soon at the marina so I have to run. Happy hour is calling:beach::drinking1

 so Kook did you save the number for future use? :rotfl2: And congrats on getting your "Old Faithful" room booked! :woohoo:

Need to go back and read but wanted to stop in and mention check your flights if you fly JB my return November flight dropped yet again $30 per person  I now have $142 in credits

Kinda makes up for Bella's $207 Vet Bill :faint: She weighed in at 133 lbs, a gain of 10lbs :scared1: so tomorrow she starts a diet :rotfl:

Sheila, is Bella absorbing all your weight loss?? :) and congrats on getting the price drop! :thumbsup2

Hi Jenny! :) Big Happy Birthday to your princess! You are right, they sure do grow up fast! I am a bit nostalgic today -- My DS (Josh) - oldest just turned 21. He's officially legal in both Canada and the USA. and off my medical benefits as a dependent :( I am sad because he's still struggling with what direction to go with his life. I'll be here to support him though as long as I can, and I hope things look up for him this yr!

MISS: Glad the clown pool doesn't look toooo bad!
The BWI is in major running for our resort of choice for youngest DS's grad trip in Jan 2015/ thinking of making it near the end of Jan - my 45th bday will be on the 29th and I can't think of a better place I'd rather celebrate!!!

Marie

A very :bday: to you Josh!! I too hope that this year is a great one for him! for him....It just seems to be that our boys need that extra time..yes mistakes will happen but learning from them is key....he has his mom and dad for support, he will get there...

And being in Disney for your birthday? Priceless!! (well, not literally, but figuratively yes....:)) :cool1: It will be a blast!

Miss :crazy2: I am sure you are psychologically damaged for awhile! I would be! :flower3:

Jen Our July trip was awesome last year!!! The crowds were fine (unless a BTG jumped in line before you) and it was hot, but manageable. I think you guys would have a great time!

Marie Happy Birthday to your big guy! Wow 21!!!! Crazy.

Janet no changes for Sept, I promise!! But, we actually get there on 9/27....:cool1: still leave on 10/2.

Still undecided on where to stay in August. It will be either Sugarloaf or CR CL!!! I have run down the options with DH and that's where we are at. Thoughts???

Good Morning all! Shoulder still not the best, but I have to go to work! Sigh....

Wow, that was some Derby story! Ugh, that would do me in...

I got up late...so of course here I am with a quick cup of tea and out the door....be back later today to catch up! Have a great day everyone!:wave2:

The hour is getting happier...

OMG KOOK that looks so delishcious even at 6:30 in the morning!

Forgot to ask... anyone want to share their opinions of Hollywood Brown Derby?

Miss Yuk at 50's :scared: I have to say we did HBD in 1997 and it was just ok but we decided to try it again last December and it was one of the best meals we had and would Definately give it a try if I were you. Much better than 50's PT in regards to food, servers, and atmosphere!

Nevermind...DH just read some of the crowd / heat reports from that time and changed his mind!! BTW it was his idea to look into it...not mine!! LOL!!

jenny I have done busy and hot with that being said if your DH changes his mind again I would do AKL and plan for a lot of resort time during the daylight hours to beat the heat

 so Kook did you save the number for future use? :rotfl2: And congrats on getting your "Old Faithful" room booked! :woohoo:

Janet I told Bella that I lost 16 and she gained my loss. :rotfl2:

She never ate her dinner last night, I guess she was upset at being " fat" so this morning I started to introduce her new " prescription" food first 2 days 3/4 old 1/4 new and she gobbled it down today. :) Over the course of 7 days slowly increasing the new to old ratio each day. Fingers crossed the transition goes smoothly.

Good Morning to everyone I missed

Good morning! I am doing this :surfweb: before I make DH's lunch, get my steak marinating for dinner and fold the laundry :goodvibes

Miss - Oh I dont think I could have handled that either, gross :crazy2: Not sure how you managed to finish your meal :sad2: My kiddos love Sci-Fi, the food isnt the best but the love the atmosphere, so that is always our go to when in DHS.

Jen - it was a good thought while it lasted. We have not WDW in July, but did do US/IoA one year and it was BRUTAL!!!! The heat and the crowds were just intolerable. I think you should stick with Boston for your summer adult trip ::yes:: Sorry DH toyed with your emotions. Oh and of course :bday:party: to DD!!!! Hope she has a wonderful day :goodvibes

Janet - I :lmao: about you priceless comment to Marie! The memories are definitely priceless, but the price tag itself....OUCH

Willow - have a good day at work and hopefully the shoulder does not give you to much of a problem

Shelia - thanks for the HBD info, I have really wanted to try it the past few times we were there. May just go on the list for Feb. Too funny about Bella, I hope the food transition goes well.

Candace - what are the girl's and DH's thoughts on GF and CR? I am probably no help because my family has no interest in GF. You know we love CR for the convenience and the rooms just feel so open and modern. With CR CL you can book a BLV room and then use the lounge for the MK view, making it the best of both worlds (and saving a bit of money over the MK view room).
I honestly don't think you can wrong with either CR or GF...which I know doesn't help

Okay household stuff calls :sad2: At least my kiddos are sound asleep :cloud9:

:grouphug:

Yeah, the view from the CR lounge totally got me!!, yes, we would book a BLV room. DH is open to either one. Girls don't have a say because they don't know about the next trip....

Sugarloaf gets such mediocre reviews and I can see from the size/location of the lounge that it's probably prone to problems. I have never wanted to stay at CR (except when I was a kid) but the idea of walking back after Wishes...that view from the lounge...all under one roofness, it's kind of winning me over! :p

Good morning! 40 more days til we leave!!

Janet -- I was SO thinking of doing a treasure hunt with map and all! :-) That's if I do it before the day we leave! :-)

MM -- so you're going in August AND September?? I think I missed something along the way. :-)

Pas -- any changes since yesterday?? :-)

Hi to everyone else!!

I honestly did not think I would like CR, so I was shocked that I love it so much. The walk to and from MK, is honestly PRICELESS ::yes:: When everyone else is waiting for the monorail, ferry or bus, you just walk on by. One night coming back from Epcot, the TTC was not loading monorails, so we hopped on the ferry to MK and just walked back to CR, such a great option to have. I also cant say enough about having everything in one building. And no matter where you are on the 12th floor you are so close to the CL. Love the openness of the CL and the whole floor. Do you think I am biased

:rotfl: I was there in April...I am going back in September this year (girls trip with my best friend), and then going next August. :goodvibes

I love having everything all under one roof!!! One of the things I loved about WL. The more research I do about CR, the more I am falling in love with the idea...

Also, did you guys use the pool at all? Was it shaded at all? When we visited it, it seemed like it's out there in the sun, but probably at some point during the day, the tower shades it, right? :scratchin

Good Morning! Good Morning!

I'm late :upsidedow However I've been up since 6ish....had to get DS11 up and ready. He's helping my aunt with yard work today. Excited he is not ;)

Looks like DetTigsGal is leaving next week for the GF....here ya go! Happy packing!!!!

Welcome home! You were (one of) the catalysts for making me book AKL. That ol' sneaky TR of yours with all those gorgeous pictures. :worship: Hubster is STILL talking about going back... if only we could plunk AKL down within walking distance of Epcot and DHS.

So happy to be of assistance my friend;) Know what you mean about it being closer to other parks. It seems a bit far removed....but still AWESOME!!!!

Welcome Home Heather!! Amazing pics as usual! Looks like you're growing your hair?

Thanks! And yep....gotta get this stuff grown out!!! When this Southern heat kicks in and we're in the pool half the time, a ponytail is the way to go:thumbsup2 Hope you're feeling better!!!

My fave moderate is POR, followed by POFQ. Which also has the water taxi, and short walk over to POR.

I agree!!! Awesome mod!!!! Can't wait to share my pics... :rolleyes1

Hello everyone! Sitting here with ice on my shoulder...having issues (had them for a while) and I seemed to have aggravated it by doing something....what I'm not sure of...sigh. I worked last night, but it was tough going, so I called out today. Definitely not something I do...last time I called out was over a year ago...

Feeling better today???

Hstrickland...:wave2: Hello! Looking forward to getting to know you:) I've changed my resort 4 ?? times...so I feel pretty comfortable here...I've settled in...

Most definitely!!!! I don't change my resort so much....I just upgrade and add days  DH is use to it after years of aggravation. Now it's just expected :teeth:

I'm glad y'all bad it home safely and you had such a wonderful time. I can't wait to see more pictures!! What was the name of the resorts you stayed at?

Thanks! Nice to be home....kind of  We stayed at the Grand Park Royal Cancun Caribe. Lots of fun for all ages.

Heather : I would be the one that would love to have WDW for my birthday!! ME!! I hope they never start asking me that, then we would be going 3 times a year!!

Since we live fairly close, we can drive. If we had to throw in airfare, it might be a different story. One year, we did 4 trips....and dare I say this....( it lost some of its magic ) Ok...I said it....no flaming....

Still tweaking ADRs. :-)

So, trying to decide if we A) do an 11am breakfast at 'Ohana on arrival day before checking in to CBR, then CS for lunch/snack later before 9pm dinner at BOG or B) do quick breakfast on way to CBR (offsite), check in, then do a late lunch (2pm) at Kona then 9pm dinner at BOG.

Or something I haven't thought of yet??

I'm probably not a good one to give you advice.....my family lives for the TS restaurants....weird, I know. Love, love, love Ohana!!!! Love Kona, too....especially their crème brule!!! BOG for dinner is on my bucket list. So....how much help was I???

I'm kinda up in the air with our 50's ADR and was looking at Brown Derby myself!! Now after reading your experience...eeewww...

Ok....did I tell you that we love TS restaurants??? :rolleyes1 We liked both of those restaurants, but then it's very subjective, ya know. Some people love Liberty Tree Tavern....but me, not so much. Again.....no help, was I??

Heather, welcome back!! Your pix are beautiful as always... and your family aren't so bad looking either.....:goodvibes Ya'll could be models for those ads where the family is all happy and having fun ::yes::

You're too kind, sweet Janet. The kids were not in the mood to stop, get off the golf cart and make pictures! Of course that's not an option when traveling with yours truly ;) 1000 pictures just isn't enough....

Good Morning to everyone I missed

Hey there, Shelia!!

Good morning! I am doing this :surfweb: before I make DH's lunch, get my steak marinating for dinner and fold the laundry.Okay household stuff calls :sad2: At least my kiddos are sound asleep.

Melissa

I need to stop procrastinating and get some household chores done myself. Faith and Jesse are still fast asleep....thank goodness.

Good morning! 40 more days til we leave!!
Hi to everyone else!!

:cool1:

Mousemommy Hey there!

Coffee is getting low....must make a run to the kitchen for some more, then it's back to doing nothing. That is until the little ones arise ...
