Our little thread of BIG changes, the neverending saga of the Resort Changers

Love it when stuff gets blocked :lmao: And thank you :hug: there's some really great peeps here. I found my bestest buds ever here, for real. I've never rented points, as I need the flexibility to ch-ch-change...BUT I am sure others have. I_heart rocked an awesome discount at VGF this past Christmas :flower3:

Hahaha - yes, exactly I've changed my booking at least 3-4 times since I made it in the Fall, it would be a big leap for me to rent points, but depending on offers/availability as the date approaches it may be an option.:scratchin

Ok, so I think I decided the 4th is out then. I will just stick to the original dates. (Still hoping to do an extra night...probably POR...?) I just don't know about Pop...is Pop better than one of the All Stars? If they offer a discount, Value would save a couple hundred bucks over POR.

Do any of you know when the all star resorts and/or pop was last refurbished? (Or a date in the near future) just curious... :-)

G'night all! (Yes, this is what happens when I drink 2 sodas with caffeine to help get rid of a migraine). Coffee will be a necessity tomorrow...I mean...in a few hours!

Hi guys!

We're just beginning to price up our next trip (although with the roof looking like it's going to need replacing, who knows) and we're thinking of either two rooms at a Value or a family suite- AOA or ASMu or something. Both would give us two spaces to sleep in, two TVs and most importantly, two bathrooms. But a kitchenette would be good for breakfasts and I do want to stay in a Lion King themed suite. Hmmmm. Still plenty of time to decide though.

And are darn near "breaking" our reservation Jeanette!!!! (we were warned :rotfl2: )

We have decided to go without club level and are booked at BWI!!!!! Mr. :clown: and all!!!! :faint:

I'm caught up as I'm going to get reading but I haven't replied in so long so I am just going to reply to this page! Seems as good a place as any ;-)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
meldev[/B]:welcome: I'd stick with the villa. Our family can only fit in a 2BR so a mod would save SO much. CBR is getting a refurb, and there's a lot of POR love here! BUT pool wise, the villas have awesome pools!! My kids loved SSR pools. Glad you've found us
I am pricing April with the AP discount and finding that 2 rooms at a mod is much much cheaper than a 2 bedroom (not even sure if any of those are available). Also, two rooms at CBR is slightly cheaper than AoA and we can have two more people! Crazy! I think we will love the CBR pool - at least judging by the pics.
I need to look at renting but I haven't ventured there yet.
We will be there mid-July. Staying at the Gaylord for dance competition and then hopefully doing a couple nights on property. I am hoping for some good discounts. I think the kids will love the Gaylord but it isn't cheap either!
I definitely want to do an A0A suite but this time, I am electing for two rooms instead. We aren't 100% sure who is going and with two rooms, I have places for 8 instead of 6. But I want to stay in a Cars Suite one day!
And are darn near "breaking" our reservation Jeanette!!!! (we were warned :rotfl2: )
We have decided to go without club level and are booked at BWI!!!!! Mr. :clown: and all!!!! :faint:
ROFL about breaking the system! Then what happens? Do they just start over?? Really, they warned you? How many changes do you have left? You could start a new ticker - xx changes until I break the Disney Reservation System.....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

As mentioned above I think I am booking two rooms at CBR. CSR hasn't become available again. The real reason I prefer CSR is the beds. I am going to continue to watch for it. Today, WL popped up with the AP discount. Be still my heart.... BUT, it is almost double and given that I have two rooms, I can't justify it. This is supposed to be our add on, extra trip on the cheap because we have APs.

Mousemommy and Lacey,
Occasionally I've found it's easier to just cancel the old reservation, and make a new--pristine! :rotfl:one. (On different days and on different calls, of course. Ha!)
After a few changes, some CM's don't sound happy faced. :rolleyes1
With a fresh start, it's a new day. :woohoo:

The downside is that it can be a bit risky ratewise, but generally I've been able to find a way to work it out if I'm flexible.

Morning Peeps! Playing catch up!

:wave2: Ginny!

Mousemommy: Do I dare update the list with your latest RC? Or go with Resort TBD at check in? :rotfl2:

Heather: YC, yes :) I quietly sailed in with that RC :) Pas and the tempting offer from the agency not to be named won me over. :goodvibes
P.S. my ticker is old news... must update it!

Krystal: So sorry on the job front. :hug: (And sadly I do know the acroynm.. RIF = Reduction in workForce :() Keeping fingers crossed that openings come available.

Sue, hoping that your job remains intact (and that the district won't need to eliminate any positions. Don't they know there are Disney trips to be planned? :upsidedow

Injection was crazy - felt like a celebrity with all the curious medical peeps. Won't lie, hurt A LOT more than I expected... but the docs are super optimistic and I am focusing on being able to ride coasters with DD this summer (she finally cleared 48" so the steel, looping world is her oyster)

:woohoo: (for it being over AND for potential coasters in your future! btw was there Paparazzi with flashing light bulbs?? :teeth:) :hug:

P.S. Happy I could provide some "food" for thought on the ADR scenarios. We just don't have enough time (or stomach capacity) for all our ADRs choices!

re: Drama situation: hoping the Dec trip issues have been improved. It seems to me that your MIL jumped the gun…was wondering if she was impulsive as this would be the first Christmas without your nephew (her grandson), and wanting to make it special for all. Hoping she has had a chance to reflect on all her kids' comments on the trip. It certainly seems like it all can be achieved with inviting the relatives up to make the family together Orlando based. :hug:

So I may or may not have been pricing out a room at Pop and AoA LM...and making ADRs for a 4th of July trip...

Thoughts on either Value resort?

Krystal, no stays at AoA but several at POP. IMO it rocks... we have always had such fun stays there and its a great value. POP has an energy and fun factor that can't be beat. And in all my resort stays it has had the best and most consistent busing. :thumbsup2

AoA looks amazing ... Family suite look fantastic but are $$ and LM rooms to my knowledge are not included in discounts as yet. Good luck, hope a trip is still doable. :goodvibes

This thread is great! I haven't read through all of it, but I"m a resort changer just from this trip alone!! I've had 3 different resorts booked for my upcoming October trip.

Bottom line, with 4 kids I'd LOVE a washer/dryer...end of story. Right?
Yeah, we could still fit in one bedroom OKW - however, when I look at prices and "potential" offers, it looks like I'm paying $1K more for a washer/dryer and a kitchen and only 1 bathroom....whereas a moderate w/ 2 adjoining rooms has no washer/dryer and only a mini fridge and little 'extra' space it would have 2 bathrooms, everyone would sleep in a 'bed' not a pullout and be about $1K less for a week.

UGH!!!! I don't know what to do...I'm now booked back at OKW - hoping for free dining and going from there.

If I were to chose moderate - which one?!? We LOVED POR - but we don't get to Disney all that often and I like to try new things and older kids are strong swimmers, so a fun pool is essential....
Decisions, decisions....

:welcome: Lots of support here.... OKW has an awesome pool... hmm but like the savings with 2 mods... what to do..well you are in good company here!!

--------------------------------

Know I missed some posts... off to lunch and will catch up later!!

Hahaha - yes, exactly I've changed my booking at least 3-4 times since I made it in the Fall, it would be a big leap for me to rent points, but depending on offers/availability as the date approaches it may be an option.:scratchin

It's funny because I am the same way but when DH and I talked about renting points at Christmas I was more settled... of course, that might have more to do with the drama I'm already so over in planning that trip. ;)

I think that renting points is a great value as long as you don't second guess yourself. But, if you feel more comfortable with flexibility then the value will be lost - as DH says "it's worth paying a little more if it keeps me 'happy'" (happy = not complaining/pondering/questioning) :thumbsup2

Kohl - I can almost hear your mental wheels whirling when reading your posts. :hyper: I believe I read somewhere that some of the values had a soft goods reno recently but now I can't find anything to back that up... as for a big renovation, I think it's been awhile.

*hugs* hope your feeling okay today!!

Sparkly - I have heard good things @ LK suites. Hope the roof doesn't cut into Disney!!!

Mousemommy - I can just see the DISboards lighting up tonight: "Disney Reservations has been down all day? What's up?" "I called but they said someone broke the system!" "But, but, but it's my ADR day!!! AHHHHHHHH!!!!" :lmao:

I love following your movements around the resort and am honestly stoked to see where you settle! It's nice to not be the only one thinking of moving but I love that you actually have the guts to do it!

As mentioned above I think I am booking two rooms at CBR. CSR hasn't become available again. The real reason I prefer CSR is the beds. I am going to continue to watch for it. I totally understand about wanting to make sure you have alternative sleeping options. That's where we are for Dec trip - part of me is like "oooh, we can rent and be good" but do we do a 2BR & 1BR or 2 2BR in case kids want to migrate? Makes it hard to figure price. That's why I'm half tempted just to spend the extra and get 4 hotel rooms. *sighs* the joys of trying to plan for the unexpected parts of a trip!

After a few changes, some CM's don't sound happy faced. :rolleyes1
With a fresh start, it's a new day. :woohoo:

That's part of the reason I didnt mind moving September over to the TA... she booked a pristine rezzie with the same discount so now it looks fresh and clean rather than like my Greek homeowork used to. :cool1:

Janet
I really felt like a celebrity the way they were watching me but they only cared about my hip. *sighs* But, the main specialist had a voice like Morgan Freeman so it sounded like he was narrating my procedure!
17 days until ADR day! I threw GG on the Sept list for our TA but told her it was not a must do. (more on that below)
Drama isn't much better but DH and I pressed on (also below)

~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~
Still really tired but that could also be to the grumpy factor of it being cold... again!
In regards to December, DH and his siblings decided to plan the trip out and make necessary reservations and then pitch the plan to his parents - that way any tweaks can be worked out but then there is a timeline we can give to other family v. an open slate waiting to be filled. We looked into renting points but A) I'm nervous about the inflexibility, B) we have been back and forth over what accommodations to get, and C) there is a chance some family will come down on Sat, some on Sun so it seems silly to pay for what we wouldn't need v. adding/cancelling a room.
I think we are going to do the split-stay to save $ - doing Disney hotel Dec 20-24 and then moving to SoG. We figure this way we can be park heavy before the insanity. DH and I think that we could save any major group ADRs for the second half of the trip so that we aren't so time constricted on park days. We figure we'll do a meal the first morning as a group... maybe a dinner one night as a group, but the rest of the time people have the freedom to tour. That gives 3 days of one or two group ADRs each and there are so many options outside the parks we can enjoy. Also, it gives our family time to do ADRs on park days (like Princess meal) that the rest of the group may not be as inclined to do.
Wow - that was way long! Sorry! I know I've taken up tons of text space with this drama... just more of a hassle than any of us expected and in ways we didn't anticipate. AHHHH, family! Or, as our neighbor in Hawaii used to say: "Ohana is a nice way of saying "Oh, heck, another nagging auntie!" :lmao:
:hug: to all the RCers, stay warm, and countdown to the weekend!!!!
Lacey - CBR is supposed to get refurbed starting in April I think! I'm anxious actually to see what the new rooms look like. Oh nm, you knew that...your trip is about that time isn't it...LOL. I can't keep things straight. :-)
Janet - DH hasn't said anything about canceling the trip yet. I honestly think he's looking forward to it too, although he'd never admit that...but the uncertainty really does put a damper on spending more money than necessary. Hence the reason why I'm looking at a way to make the trip cheaper, but still happen...
Any All Star lovers (or haters I suppose too) here? The surfing section at ASSp or 101 Dalmations at ASMo look kinda fun too and I've heard that most of the time (unless it's slow) the All Stars don't share buses with each other...?
Still trying to wait til discounts come out to talk changes with DH so I know just how much we'll be saving by switching...
Sounds like a great plan! I'm off to bed. I think I'll watch a bit of Downton Abbey from Sunday again. :cool1:
I love Downton Abbey!! I just don't wait for it to be shown on American tv. I watch it online on a site that probably isn't 100% legal. Oh well, I get to watch it when the Brits watch it.
So, ever since my first trip to Disney in 1985, I have had a "Disney Box". At first, it was a little box. It just contained my small little momentos/souvenirs from my trip. I added to it on my next trip in 1989.
I didn't get back to Disney until 2000. That trip was my first trip anywhere with my then BF (now DH). He knew about the Disney box. He had been twice as a child too. When we got back from that trip, we added his stuff and our stuff from that trip to the box. We needed a bigger box.
Few more trips before kids, and up to our honeymoon....again adding to the box. :goodvibes
Then, our kids first trip in 2009. The kids added their stuff. Man did we need a bigger box!!! :rotfl2:
So, after 4 trips with the family, our box was overflowing all over the place in our closet. :rotfl2:
Well, DH is home this week with the kiddos on Feb vacation. I came home yesterday and found my Disney box missing. :scared1:
DH has been cleaning out the basement and closets this week and so much stuff is going out in the trash because DH wants to finish the basement this year...
I ran downstairs screaming!!! DH then pulled a giant 35 lb Rubbermaid bin out of the playroom...all decorated with Disney designs....a new Disney box!!!!!!! He opened it and showed me that it's only half full now, and that we have a lot of work to do to fill it up again. Oh my Lawd how I love that guy!!!! :love:
You have one awesome DH!!
wookie I'm sorry @ work- that was us last year... I was a sub and it started super slow. By the end of the year, I was working 4 days a week but DH was super antsy at the beginning.
I told the friend that is going with me on the trip about what my DH was saying and she said that he is just having his man monthly.
As mentioned above I think I am booking two rooms at CBR. CSR hasn't become available again. The real reason I prefer CSR is the beds. I am going to continue to watch for it. I haven't thought of CSR. I know the beds are Queen, but how soft are they?
Still really tired but that could also be to the grumpy factor of it being cold... again!
Sounds like the DH's siblings have come up with a good plan. Hopefully, their mom won't throw a wrench into it.
I can't wait to see the new parade!!
Sent from my iPad using DISBoards
I can't wait for the new parade!! Then again, I never saw the current 3 PM parade. My family usually doesn't watch the parades.
Last night we went out to dinner and it was just terrible. My fil wanted to go out to eat to make it easier on me and my mil. We went to an IHOP right near a college. We were all in the mood for pancakes. Not long after we ordered, one of the cooks left, leaving only one working. It took over an hour to get our food, which all came cold. I mean the pancakes were so cold, when you tried to spread the butter on them, they tore. When we asked for a manager to complain to, but there wasn't one on duty.
I didn't have to work today, so I am making some yummy potato soup, and working on a plan for the girls only trip.
Second round of Catching Up... :)
Mousemommy: Love hearing about another sweet story about your DH... he is a definite keeper. :thumbsup2
Krystal, Pop was last refurbished in 2010. Updated with replacment refrigerators in 2013 (due to the recall) .. Privacy curtain, flat screen TVs. (hope your headache is gone :hug:)
Sparkly, Love the themed family suites! Cars is my favorite. Two years ago we debated this and opted for 2 rooms at POP. With 4 women and one child, we decided we needed regular beds. But the FS are enticing. :cool1: And the ASMu suites are less $$...
Lacey: Hi! No history staying at CBR but the main pool looks awesome. :thumbsup2 Pehaps you will see the beginnigs of the refurb. Is POR an option?
Janet
I really felt like a celebrity the way they were watching me but they only cared about my hip. *sighs* But, the main specialist had a voice like Morgan Freeman so it sounded like he was narrating my procedure!
:goodvibes Such a great voice! Shawshank Redemption comes to my mind :)
Glad you have a plan of action for December. :)
Krystal, I'm glad you are still moving forward with the trip. Life is so uncertain, and family time away from our daily routines is so important. Hope it all works out and you can score some great discounts. :flower3:
Nothing new about my girls only trip. We need to figure out a park plan, but I'm in a funk about the trip. My DH is being a horse's rear and is threatening to not let me go if I don't start working 5 days a week. I have no control over how many days a week my friend needs me at her in home daycare.
Wookie, hoping that you can make the trip work within your budget :hug:
I'm making a practice tutu. I'm giving it to the daughter of the friend I work for. Any tulle I have left over, I will probably make for the little girls of the day care to play with.
If it anything like your fabulous scarfs, you'll be the best dressed at the party. :goodvibes
Wookie, hoping that you can make the trip work within your budget :hug:
Thank you. I'm sure I will. It's just a question of whether we will end up staying where I want to or not.
If it anything like your fabulous scarfs, you'll be the best dressed at the party. :goodvibes
Thank you. I think I am costumed changed as much on this trip as we have resorts. I now have an idea to be Cinderella. I found a cute tank top dress that is the right color. I'll add tulle at the shoulders and then a tutu. I think the wig is going to cost more than the dress will.
