~Our June '09 adventure~ I'm home! Started TR 7/2

Attraction of the Day...

Ellen

So this is from our '08 trip...we decided to finally try Ellen for the first time during our Epcot day. We get halfway through the ride and it stops. And it's pitch black. I hate the dark. :guilty: So finally, a CM comes over the loud speakers "Please remain seated. We are having technical difficulties. The ride will resume shortly. Again, please remain seated." We waited...and waited...and nothing happened. After about the 6th time of the CM coming over the loud speakers saying that same thing over and over, she finally switched it up! "Please remain seated. We are having technical difficulties. A CM will be to your car shortly to escort you toward the exit." I thought cool! I've never been evacuated from a ride before! Finally, they turned on some emergency lights so we could see where the heck we were going! I was sad though, I never did get to see the rest of Ellen. It's a must for us this trip!

You know.. it seems like you have a lot of rides that stop.. hehe  But I always knew there was something for Ellen.. but I always though it was a show.. like a movie type deal.. not a ride. I'm so freakin excited now! I love Ellen!!

Couldn't agree more!

Re Ellen's ride, looking forward to it this June for the first time as well. Good pick!
:thumbsup2

When in June are you going?!

I want to make my ADR's! :sad1:

Ugh, I feel the same way about August -- and I have at least 71 more days!!

LoL, yeah!

There is a pre-show that is a movie type thing and then you get on the ride...I love Ellen too!

I'm in...I need to catch up, but I love you pictures!!!

Hi! Welcome! Please do catch up. :)

Attraction of the Day...

The Great Movie Ride

Oh man...I don't have any really good stories for this one...Well back in '07, we had this crazy CM driver...she was WAY too excited to be at work. Then, later in the week, we had her again! The 2nd time around, we couldn't stop laughing. We're bad. :flower3:

Never ridden the Great Movie Ride. Won't have any June memories either because we aren't going to DHS this trip.:upsidedow

No. Last trip we didn't go to AK. This trip we aren't going to DHS. There's only so much touring time!:sad2:

Oh I know how that is! Well if there's nothing you want to see at DHS, then more time for you at the other parks! :)

Haha, I'm also here to catch up. Get ready, I'm like four Attraction of the Days behind. You know how wordy I can get....:rolleyes1

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Hm...I am so lame about answering the Attraction of the Day question...I am so far behind. So, I am just going to answer about The Great Movie Ride.

Hm...when we were there last September, we rode TGMR and had this woman gangster hijack our vehicle. Hm...I always like the cowboy better. I think they (at least the CMs that I've had) have always had better jokes. So, I wanted to ride it again to see if we could get the cowboy. But no one else wanted to. :(

Anyway, basically, I like the cowboy better than the gangster. That's my memory. :)

I like the cowboy too!

Attraction of the Day...

Fantasmic!

Okay, so we're sitting there waiting for the show to start...and there's the most annoying CM EVER working our aisle to make sure people don't come down any further because it was all full from that point on. She starts yapping to the people two rows in front of us, but talking loud enough so we can all hear her. She was telling them "little insider tips" and stuff. OMG, they weren't even right! Like, "Go to Epcot at night, it's never busy!" Or "There's never anything that runs out of fast passes so don't worry!" My family and I just looked at each other after each comment and laughed. Pretty soon the people in the row in front of us and behind us started listening to her too and we all had the giggles. After that, we started talking to both those families and made friends with them to pass the time. Well, luckily we did that because after the show was over...the family in front of us gave us their RnRC fast passes because they had to leave!!! :woohoo:

Your story is hilarious! And :woohoo: for free RnRC fastpasses!

On our Nov trip last year, we went to Fantasmic so that my Mom's BFF could see it for the first time. It was FREEZING, and the wind was blowing just so that all the water "screens" were spraying us like crazy. Everyone was shivering like mad. It was so bad that when the dragon comes out and breathes fire onto the lake, everyone CHEERED. The whole theater (particularly our side) erupted into loud applause. It was the same kind of cheer that occurs at the end of the show. But what was really funny was when Mickey defeated the dragon and started putting the fire out, people actually BOOED him! :rotfl2: I was laughing so hard because it was so horrifying! People were booing Mickey Mouse in his own park! And to make matters worse...the CMs had informed us that it was Mickey's b-day that day! Can you imagine? Poor Mickey! Nothing like getting booed on your b-day. :sad2:

Attraction of the Day...

Festival of the Lion King

Oh thinking of a story for this one is easy! We went to get in line for this and ended up being the first ones at the door! We waited and waited and eventually, when they let us in, we sat in the 2nd row! The closest we've ever been! So they're getting ready to pick someone from each section to make the animal sounds..and guess who gets picked for our section?! DAD!!! :rotfl: He tried getting him to pick someone else, but the guy said "No sir, you are the chosen one." So he gets up, and they get to him and we're the ELEPHANT section. Oh man, we have never laughed so hard! Dad was so embarassed though!

Aw! Your poor dad! I don't think my dad would have been such a good sport...:rolleyes1

We went to FotLK for the first time last summer. I don't have a particular memory from it, but I really enjoyed the show. It was great! :thumbsup2

Attraction of the Day...

The Haunted Mansion

So it's back in 2001 when my whole family was with...My grandma and sis was in the doom buggy behind me and my dad..We had just gotten sat down and the CM working was doing a great job of playing the part! Pretty soon, we hear my grandma and sis scream! The CM had snuck around to the other side of their buggy and leaned in and said "Boo!" :lmao:

Another one...we were leaving the HM and the CM followed me all the way out past the pet cemetary and I didn't even know it until I turned around to say something!

I have a TON of HM memories like this, especially from MNSSHP. Once a CM at the MNSSHP leaned in to our buggy wearing vampire fangs, and another laid down on the moving handrail and pretended to be dead, his eyes wide open. Finally, one stopped the whole ride (it was about five minutes to closing) because my mom and aunt couldn't stop giggling. My brother and I were several cars ahead and we could hear them laughing back on the platform. They told us later that the CM just glared at them and said all creepily..."What are you laughing at?"

No particular memory here, but Ellen is one of my favs! She is so funny! "And then some stranger said there will be no eating, drinking, or flash photography in my dream...." :rotfl2:

That's cool that you got to be "evacuated," but a bummer that you missed the rest of the ride. I think you'll love the ending when you ride it in June. :thumbsup2

Hmm...I don't have any fav stories from this one either. We always lament that our first driver and gangster were the best and will never be duplicated, and I always whine because we've NEVER done the cowboy side. They're never running it when we're there.

I love the trailers during the pre-show. :3dglasses I can quote some of them, and people in line look at me all funny. :rolleyes1

 I love that you picked this one because I wrote in my TR about how BAD the CMs were when we rode this in January. The CM can totally make or break the ride experience.

Hmmm favorite memory...would have to be when I finally found the hidden mickeys on this ride! I was very into finding hidden Mickeys about 5 years ago, I had the book and everything and I found the two big ones after much searching...mickey's feet sticking out under the billboard in the "ganster scene" and mickey and donald on the wall in the Indiana Jones part. I love all the little Disney touches. :goodvibes I was so proud of myself and I still look for them every time. Poor DD has yet to see them, he is not very observant

My family always whines about the same thing!! Except we always get the cowboy scene and want to get the ganster scene. It depends on which car you sit in...if you are up front with the first driver its cowboy, and if you're in the second car with the back driver its gangster so it depends on where you get seated. So ask for a seat up front to see the cowboys...but you are right, they are NEVER as good as the first time.
