~Our June '09 adventure~ I'm home! Started TR 7/2

Oh no I'm behind!!!

I love the story of the FOTLK. Your poor dad! :lmao:

Good thing you guys waited for Test track!

Oh and back to the evacuation of Spaceship earth. My brothers and I thought it was funny but on the other hand my mom was not pleased at all. We were on the incline, didn't even make it to the first scene and the whole thing came to a screeching halt. We waited and waited for about 20-30 minutes listening to the recorded "stay in your seat spiel". Finally a CM came on the speaker and said that a CM would be by to help us out of our seats and off the ride. Well the CM came with a flashlight and opened the door to our car and off we went. It was a first for us being evacuated. Rides were breaking down the whole week but always restarted. This was a new adventure.

Haha, it's okay-you can always play catch up!

Yeah he was so embarassed!

I told my mom that we weren't leaving the TT line until they told us that for sure it wouldn't be running again! :thumbsup2

Oh man I can't imagine being taken off SE!

Attraction of the Day...

The Haunted Mansion

So it's back in 2001 when my whole family was with...My grandma and sis was in the doom buggy behind me and my dad..We had just gotten sat down and the CM working was doing a great job of playing the part! Pretty soon, we hear my grandma and sis scream! The CM had snuck around to the other side of their buggy and leaned in and said "Boo!" :lmao:

Another one...we were leaving the HM and the CM followed me all the way out past the pet cemetary and I didn't even know it until I turned around to say something!

Ok, I am way behind but I will jump in here because I love this!

My fav HM memory has to be this past trip...I was riding with DF, and he ALWAYS forgets that you aren't supposed to pull down on the lap bar. So he gives it a tug and before I can remind him to stop, a CM jumps out of nowhere and like lunges at him and tells him to halt. :rotfl: It scared the crap out of him, and he smacked his knee on the lap bar when it came down. I was cracking up, but I felt bad after because he did hit his knee very hard.

You have such a good memory of all your trips to be thinking of so many great stories for all these attractions!

Hey it's okay you're behind-you can always play catch up for whatever ones you missed!

The CM's at the HM are great aren't they?! Except, I don't like to make eye contact with them and I avoid them at all times!

And about my memory? What can I say..I love WDW so much! When we're there, I just try to take everything in that I can!

I love the HM! During a Dis meet we were in the streching room and the CM maid his way around the room to get everyone away from the walls. Well I wasn't paying attention and all us dis'ers were talking well the CM came right up behind me and I turned around and screamed (must of jumped a mile high too) but he scared me without even doing anything. :scared1: I just wasn't expecting him right behind me! Everyone started laughing and got a kick out of it.

OMG the stretching room...I always make sure that I'm in the middle of the room and the rest of the family is around me!

Holyy crapoly! Could I get anymore behind! GEESS!
1st off- I hope they have dreams.. but I don't think they do anymore either.. I forgot it went with the theme because they had it for such a long time. But I like this theme to.. they have ALOT of cool stuff to help you "celebrate" your celebration!! :upsidedow

Attraction of the Day...

The Carousel of Progress

So everyone who's been on Carousel of Progress knows that it rotates as you switch scenes...well as we are starting to move to the next scene-it comes to a screeching halt-LITERALLY it was screeching and then came to a stop. So we were all looking at each other like what do we do now? And then....then scene that we had just watched started again! :headache: So everyone was like "GGGGGreat!" People started getting up and as they were walking someone came over the loud speaker "Please remain seated!!" So then after the scene was over for the 2nd time, we waited to start rotating and we weren't moving! :scared: So we had to watch the scene a 3rd time!!! By this time, everyone was saying the lines along with them and singing "There's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow shining at the end of every day...there's a great big beautiful tomorrow...just a dream away!" finally after the 3rd time, we started moving again!! Everyone clapped and cheered. But we held our breath after each scene and hoped we would start moving.

Well that doesn't sound like a very good memory.. hehe I was very much looking forward to this ride.. I've never done it before.. and I think i'll like it.. idk about DH. But now I'm scared to get stuck or something! hehe

Attraction of the Day...

Test Track

This happened on our '08 trip so it's taken from my TR. This was the day that we decided Epcot hated us because it was pouring all day:

Finally, the rain had cleared! We walked out of the gift shop and could hear the TT cars going by overhead. They had started?! We saw people getting in the fast pass return line and decided to get in it because our time had passed. It was a pretty long line, but we didn't care. Soon, we noticed we weren't moving anywhere and looked up front and the doors to TT were closed! People started going up to the CM's and asking what the deal was. We heard someone say that the CM's said that TT is still closed and the reason cars are going by is because they have to get all of the cars back in sync with each other before they can begin loading again. Soon the stand-by line was going WAY past us and soon we couldn't even see the end! By this time, everyone decided to start sitting down. And this is when we came to the conclusion: Epcot officially hates us.

We sat there for who knows how long. Soon, people in front of us started leaving. We were working our way up to the front and sis and I told mom that we weren't leaving this line unless the CM's tell us that TT won't be open for the rest of the day. People kept leaving....and finally when they opened the ride, we were second family in line! :woohoo:

It pays to be patient sometimes.. I'm not very good with patient- and the whole waiting in line thing.. even at stores... I try not to get irritated but it always happens. I ACTUALLY HAVE A MEMORY!! YIPPY SKIPPY! :woohoo:
So this was one of my DH and I's fav. rides.. the first time we rode it..we were like whatever this is fun.. and then finally one time we decided to make noises and act our of the ride- no loud or anything.. just to eachother.. and we always say sarcastic funny comments to each other anyways.. and we were doing that.. it was funny. My FAV. part of the ride is when it goes around the sharp corner really fast and the wind blows in your hair! I feel free!! ;)

Attraction of the Day...

Fantasmic!

Okay, so we're sitting there waiting for the show to start...and there's the most annoying CM EVER working our aisle to make sure people don't come down any further because it was all full from that point on. She starts yapping to the people two rows in front of us, but talking loud enough so we can all hear her. She was telling them "little insider tips" and stuff. OMG, they weren't even right! Like, "Go to Epcot at night, it's never busy!" Or "There's never anything that runs out of fast passes so don't worry!" My family and I just looked at each other after each comment and laughed. Pretty soon the people in the row in front of us and behind us started listening to her too and we all had the giggles. After that, we started talking to both those families and made friends with them to pass the time. Well, luckily we did that because after the show was over...the family in front of us gave us their RnRC fast passes because they had to leave!!! :woohoo:

woohoo! free fast passes.. wait they are free.. well free ones you didn't have!! hehe Thats funny that she was giving false advise.. actually its a bit sad.. now if I have a question- who do I ask?!! hehe I have yet to do this.. but I did decide to do the mama melrose package! :thumbsup2

Attraction of the Day...

Festival of the Lion King

Oh thinking of a story for this one is easy! We went to get in line for this and ended up being the first ones at the door! We waited and waited and eventually, when they let us in, we sat in the 2nd row! The closest we've ever been! So they're getting ready to pick someone from each section to make the animal sounds..and guess who gets picked for our section?! DAD!!! :rotfl: He tried getting him to pick someone else, but the guy said "No sir, you are the chosen one." So he gets up, and they get to him and we're the ELEPHANT section. Oh man, we have never laughed so hard! Dad was so embarassed though!

ohh thatsa great memory! This is by far one of my fav. shows of all time. The first time we seen this.. we went the 2nd week in Jan. and we arrived early to.. soo we got good seating.. we were also in the second row! We could of actually sat in the first.. but chose to sit in the 2nd idk why. But i love that show.. I always think to myself.. what if they picked me?!! Would I be ok with it? Or would I feel soo embarrased and want to hide.. hehe But I would definitely have fun with it!! hehe! :lmao: My DH loved this because he loves the Lion King!

This is my favorite ride.. my dh to.. Which is kind of funny.. we got to wonderful happy place and choose the HM as our fav. ride! hehe But my memory is actually when i went with my parents the first time. I was in 3rd or 4th grade I think. I don't have anything that really happened.. but all I can remember if the first experience you have when you look in the mirror and see the ghost sitting next to you.. eekkk but so cool! hehe and then the dancing ghosts.. that never gets old.

But this last time when my DH and I rode it.. it stopped right next to the talking head.. and after a while i was like- Austy-get me outta here i'm scared!! hehe The head was a little to much for me to handle! :lmao:

There I'm all caught up!!!

Hahahaha wow you are awesome for going back to what you've missed!

You know when you're outside on TT? I try so hard to keep my eyes open but I never can! Stupid contacts!

We did the Mama Melrose/Fantasmic package back in '07 and loved it! It's well worth it IMO.

I used to be SO scared riding the HM when I was younger. I'd sit and hang on to my mom or dad and pray for it to be over. I did like the part where they tilt you on your back though. :confused3

Awwww I don't have any particularly interesting/funny memories of Festival of the Lion King or the Haunted Mansion. I really like them both though! FOTLK is definitely one of my favourite parts of the Animal Kingdom.

I always get goosebumps during FOTLK..and I love to embarass my sis by singing along. ;)

Haha I totally sing along too!!! The Lion King has some of my favourite Disney music.:woohoo:

You gotta put your sunglasses back on! It helps.:goodvibes

FOTLK - I remember that DS (then 6) was in a pickle because we were going to see this show. I think that he wanted to play more at the Boneyard.:confused3 He was basically being forced to go to this thing. We were in the giraffe section, which was ridiculous. We sat next to a family from England that was on a 2 or 3 week tour of Orlando. They were fun to talk to. The show itself was awesome. I loved it, and I could tell that DS loved it too. My memory has faded from the one time, but isn't there a sappy lovey type song in the middle of it? I don't remember exactly, but DS said it was all good, except that one slow part.:rotfl:

HM - HM has been one of my favorite rides since I was going to DL growing up. It is a MUST DO for me every trip. I was so bummed it was closed on our last trip. I'm really looking forward to the refurb. I still remember the first time I rode it. The talking lady at the very END, when you are going up the flat escalator?, she CREEPED me OUT!

Wow, I really fell behind on your PTR. :sad2: I just love your PTR!!!

I thought I'd share my FotL and HM memories:

FotL: Okay, I can't STAND musicals. I do like most of the Disney movies, but I just don't do live action musicals. Well, my sister really wanted to go see FotL. I put up a fight at first, but figured I'd be a nice, doting sister and go suffer through it. The whole time, I had this horrible scowl on my face. Afterwards, my sister deemed that one of the 7 layers of Hell for me. Now, she's even compiled a complete list! :rotfl:

HM (indirectly related): It's one of my favorite rides, and provided me with the inspiration for my MNSSHP costume. I went as one of the the stretching room portraits (the lady with the parasol). As I was walking down Main Street, a CM came running over to me and warned me to stay away from tightropes and alligators that evening. It was awesome! I was so excited that someone actually recognized who I was.

It's not a long story, but I just noticed two trips ago the hanging body in the stretching room. I've never been scared during that ride until I looked up and saw that; I shrieked a bit.

When we went on our honeymoon, I made a point to make DH stare upwards during the entire stretching room part so he'd see it!

my funniest memory of the HM was when erin went with me in september 2007. it was her first time at disney world and she wanted me to warn her of anything that jumped out at you. i told her the HM was totally cheesy and not scary at all. well, we get to the part in the graveyard where the heads sort of pops out from behind the headstone and she got SO MAD at me! she was like, "WHY DIDN'T YOU WARN ME ABOUT THAT????" i was like, "you're kidding me, right?" :rotfl2:

oh, and also when erica and i went this past september our last night at MK (which we haven't gotten to yet in our TR) she wanted her last ride to be HM because it's her favorite and i wanted to ride BTMRR because i love it at night. so we split up. as i was getting off BTMRR, she texted me and said, "i'm riding it again!!!!!" it was like 11:59 and they park was closing at midnight so she knew she had time to get on before it closed. i think she rode that thing like 6 times that trip! i like it but OMG i was about to SCREAM because that song was stuck in my head. :rotfl:

grim grinning ghosts come out to SOCIALIZE!!!!!!!! over and over and over and over and over again......

Oh I"ll do that next time!

Yes, there's the love song in the middle! *Can You Feel the Love Tonight?*

Oh my gosh, you are going to love the changes to HM! The new bride is SCARY! And that lady at the end "Hurry back...." creeps me out too!

Aw, at least you were nice and went with your sister!

Oh my gosh that was your costume?! I would love to see a pic please!

I don't like that part anymore because of personal experience...This past trip, I wouldn't even look straight ahead during that part, I always looked down.

Oh my gosh, please don't mention that song! HAHA. Gee thanks Dawn. :dance3:

Okay I am finally joining after reading/lurking the past three weeks ;)
And, I can contribute my HM story. I also love this ride, it reminds me of the only childhood trip I went on, which was when I was 7 to Disney Land. I am a west coast kid (though now I live on the other coast!). I have very vague memories of this trip, which makes sense since it was 30 yrs ago!, but the one I remember clearly was sitting in the buggy and noticing the green ghosts sitting beside me, between me and my mother... I can remember it clear as day. I of course have been on it since then, only at DW, but that one time I will always remember!:)

OK here I go…I am catching up as promised! Sorry to leave this monster of a post on your thread but I just couldn’t resist being a part of all this fun!

Big Thunder- My favorite memory here has to our trip last month. We rode this the day we got engaged and for some reason it hit me while we were sitting on this ride! I was in the car with DF, making the climb up the big hill and the sun was setting and the view was so pretty and I realized just how completely happy I was to be in Disney with my Fiance. Weird place to get all sappy, I know!!

Soarin- Our January 08 trip was the first time DF rode this. I love riding things with people when it’s their first time to see their reactions. When the golf ball came zooming by the screen, DF ducked! He thought they launch actual golf balls at you! Too funny, of course I had to tease him about that when we rode it this year!

The Backlot Tour- This is another one where my favorite memory is riding with a first timer. I went with my cousin about 10 years ago, and she had never been to Disney period before and she totally though Catastrophe Canyon was real! We also got really soaked on it this day and were cracking up the entire time, it was just so much fun.

Dinosaur- The first time I ever rode this I freaked out and jumped practically out of my seat when the carnotaurus jumps out the first time. I still kinda jump, he is so scary lookin, and my fam teases me about it a lot.

Buzz Lightyear- My best memory ever was the first time we rode this when it first opened. My family was all calling out their really high scores at the end of the ride, excited that we did so great, until we get to my brother who yells out “I got zero!”. He was sooo upset, and to this day he never wins at Buzz. For some reason he can’t figure it out. He blames it on the gun being broken, but we know it’s an excuse! :rotfl:

Spaceship Earth-My best memory of SE is from my very first trip to Epcot when I was 6. My grandparents took me and my aunt, and my siblings were babies so my parents stayed back at our villa with them. I felt so special getting to have my grandma’s undivided attention for the day. This was the first thing we rode, and I loved it. Still do!

Beauty and the Beast-I haven’t seen this show in years but I am dying to go back! I remember the first time I saw it, watching the beast become a prince at the end. I think I teared up a little! This is my all time favorite Disney movie and that is my best memory of this show because it is so true to the movie.

Expedition Everest-My best memory of this was riding it for the first time when it very first opened. I screamed my head off when the Yeti jumps out at you. Notice a trend here? I freak out when things jump out at me even as an adult! I love this ride so much though and they did a really good job designing the Yeti.

Carousel of Progress-My favorite memory of this ride happened during our Aug. 06 trip. There was an asian family on the ride with us who decided after the first scene that they wanted to get off. I guess the ride was just not entertaining them. So of course the CM tells them to sit down. But they didn’t speak English so they kept wandering around the theater trying to find an exit! The poor CM was chasing after them trying to get them to sit back down, it was very funny but also kinda annoying because I love this attraction and their antics were so distracting!

Test Track- My favorite memory of this ride happened on one of our trips when this ride first opened. It was the first week of December and the parks were dead, so there was no wait. The CM let us ride twice without getting off because there were like 5 people in line. :woohoo: This had never happened to us on TT before, such a nice treat!

Fantasmic-On one of our trips, we did the dinner package and ended up with a front row seat for this show. It was a great view, the characters seemed so close up. I totally had tears in my eyes, I love this show! :lovestruc

Festival of the Lion King
-I’ve only seen this show once, but I loved the part with the monkeys! It made me want to go see Cirque de Soleil because their tricks are so cool. I loved watching the acrobatics and I love all of the crowd interactions. The music was so impressive too!

Nope, no memory as usual but your story is really funny! I hate when people jump out from things or scare me unexpectedly its the worst! I have to remember to stay reallllllyyyyy alert when I'm on HM this year
