~Our June '09 adventure~ I'm home! Started TR 7/2

Okay I am finally joining after reading/lurking the past three weeks ;)
And, I can contribute my HM story. I also love this ride, it reminds me of the only childhood trip I went on, which was when I was 7 to Disney Land. I am a west coast kid (though now I live on the other coast!). I have very vague memories of this trip, which makes sense since it was 30 yrs ago!, but the one I remember clearly was sitting in the buggy and noticing the green ghosts sitting beside me, between me and my mother... I can remember it clear as day. I of course have been on it since then, only at DW, but that one time I will always remember!:)

Oh I'm so glad you decided to de-lurk yourself! I love meeting new people! :goodvibes

I really want to go to Disneyland sometime! Isn't it crazy how well we can remember certain things from our younger years?!

OK here I go…I am catching up as promised! Sorry to leave this monster of a post on your thread but I just couldn’t resist being a part of all this fun!!

Hey! I'm glad that you caught up! And don't ever worry about big posts! :)

Big Thunder- My favorite memory here has to our trip last month. We rode this the day we got engaged and for some reason it hit me while we were sitting on this ride! I was in the car with DF, making the climb up the big hill and the sun was setting and the view was so pretty and I realized just how completely happy I was to be in Disney with my Fiance. Weird place to get all sappy, I know!!

Aw that's so cute though!

Soarin- Our January 08 trip was the first time DF rode this. I love riding things with people when it’s their first time to see their reactions. When the golf ball came zooming by the screen, DF ducked! He thought they launch actual golf balls at you! Too funny, of course I had to tease him about that when we rode it this year!:

Haha he thought they were real?!

The Backlot Tour- This is another one where my favorite memory is riding with a first timer. I went with my cousin about 10 years ago, and she had never been to Disney period before and she totally though Catastrophe Canyon was real! We also got really soaked on it this day and were cracking up the entire time, it was just so much fun.

Haha, you got soaked?!

Dinosaur- The first time I ever rode this I freaked out and jumped practically out of my seat when the carnotaurus jumps out the first time. I still kinda jump, he is so scary lookin, and my fam teases me about it a lot.

He is scary!!

Buzz Lightyear- My best memory ever was the first time we rode this when it first opened. My family was all calling out their really high scores at the end of the ride, excited that we did so great, until we get to my brother who yells out “I got zero!”. He was sooo upset, and to this day he never wins at Buzz. For some reason he can’t figure it out. He blames it on the gun being broken, but we know it’s an excuse! :rotfl:

He got zero?! :rotfl: I love seeing where I rank at the end of the ride.

Spaceship Earth-My best memory of SE is from my very first trip to Epcot when I was 6. My grandparents took me and my aunt, and my siblings were babies so my parents stayed back at our villa with them. I felt so special getting to have my grandma’s undivided attention for the day. This was the first thing we rode, and I loved it. Still do!

Aw that's so fun!

Beauty and the Beast-I haven’t seen this show in years but I am dying to go back! I remember the first time I saw it, watching the beast become a prince at the end. I think I teared up a little! This is my all time favorite Disney movie and that is my best memory of this show because it is so true to the movie.

I love this movie/show too!!!! I was Belle for Halloween a couple times when I was younger!

Expedition Everest-My best memory of this was riding it for the first time when it very first opened. I screamed my head off when the Yeti jumps out at you. Notice a trend here? I freak out when things jump out at me even as an adult! I love this ride so much though and they did a really good job designing the Yeti.

Haha, I scream too! The Yeti is amazing!

Carousel of Progress-My favorite memory of this ride happened during our Aug. 06 trip. There was an asian family on the ride with us who decided after the first scene that they wanted to get off. I guess the ride was just not entertaining them. So of course the CM tells them to sit down. But they didn’t speak English so they kept wandering around the theater trying to find an exit! The poor CM was chasing after them trying to get them to sit back down, it was very funny but also kinda annoying because I love this attraction and their antics were so distracting!

Haha, poor CM!

Test Track- My favorite memory of this ride happened on one of our trips when this ride first opened. It was the first week of December and the parks were dead, so there was no wait. The CM let us ride twice without getting off because there were like 5 people in line. :woohoo: This had never happened to us on TT before, such a nice treat!

That's so cool to stay on!

Fantasmic-On one of our trips, we did the dinner package and ended up with a front row seat for this show. It was a great view, the characters seemed so close up. I totally had tears in my eyes, I love this show! :lovestruc

Did you get wet in the front row?

Festival of the Lion King-I’ve only seen this show once, but I loved the part with the monkeys! It made me want to go see Cirque de Soleil because their tricks are so cool. I loved watching the acrobatics and I love all of the crowd interactions. The music was so impressive too!

The monkeys are so good!

Nope, no memory as usual but your story is really funny! I hate when people jump out from things or scare me unexpectedly its the worst! I have to remember to stay reallllllyyyyy alert when I'm on HM this year

Haha, yeah you will have to watch out for them!

It's not great, but it's the best I had on my work computer. Hmmm...maybe I shouldn't be DISing at work?? :rolleyes1

Oh my gosh! That is so cute!

Haha, I don't want to get you in trouble at work! I'm DIS'ing in the computer lab waiting for my next class. lol.

Attraction of the Day...

Ellen

So this is from our '08 trip...we decided to finally try Ellen for the first time during our Epcot day. We get halfway through the ride and it stops. And it's pitch black. I hate the dark. :guilty: So finally, a CM comes over the loud speakers "Please remain seated. We are having technical difficulties. The ride will resume shortly. Again, please remain seated." We waited...and waited...and nothing happened. After about the 6th time of the CM coming over the loud speakers saying that same thing over and over, she finally switched it up! "Please remain seated. We are having technical difficulties. A CM will be to your car shortly to escort you toward the exit." I thought cool! I've never been evacuated from a ride before! Finally, they turned on some emergency lights so we could see where the heck we were going! I was sad though, I never did get to see the rest of Ellen. It's a must for us this trip!

Is Ellen the one with dinosaurs in it?

DS is studying dinosaurs right now in school. I was thinking we would give this one a try in June.

It would be too funny if we rode it at the same time!:lmao: I was just laughing looking at our tickers...

LOL the SAME day! Well...except you get there the 20th, we are leaving my house the 20th and getting to WDW the 22nd.

You know, I love the Universe of Energy ride's music. I'm not such a fan of the ride for some reason, but I really enjoy the music. In fact, I know I would just ride it to hear the soundtrack. I love listening to it online.

I can't imagine getting stuck on there, though. We go stuck on Splash Mountain in October...for 30 minutes! We were stuck right after you come down the last hill, and start rounding the corner. I really thought we were going to be escorted off, which I was hoping for to sneak a backstage look. Alas, we were not -- so sad.

Oh my gosh! That is so cute!

Haha, I don't want to get you in trouble at work! I'm DIS'ing in the computer lab waiting for my next class. lol.

Thanks!! And, no worries...I'm kind of a Dis-aholic during the day. Hmm...hopefully no one from my office reads your PTR. :lmao:

I love Ellen's!!! I didn't get to ride it on our last trip because the rest of my family decided it looked boring. While I will admit, it might not be the most exciting attraction in Epcot:laughing: I think it's fun! I love Ellen Degeneres and I am going to make SURE I get to ride it in May!:rotfl:

I'm catching up again!!! I love all your stories, you guys have some good ones! I love the one from Beauty and the Beast, what a dream come true for a kid!!

I dont really have alot of fun or cool ride stories? :confused3 If I do I'm just forgetting them. Fantasmic is my favorite thing ever, you know, and I can remember seeing it for the first time and just being in awe. Like, HOW did I MISS this before? I fell absolutely in love with it-the music, the water, the characters, just all of it.

And Haunted Mansion is my favorite ride, ever. We ride it over and over and over. I can't even explain why, I just love it. It's one of those rides where I get on, and I get that "NOW I'm in Disney" feeling.

I've never been on Ellen! Can you believe it?

It's okay, I hadn't been on it either until this time (my story)!!

Aw that would be awesome to be escorted of Splash!

It was so cool! He bent down to make sure I wasn't scared of him. Since then, he's held a soft spot in my heart.

During Fantasmic, I always get goosebumps!!

HM was on of our first stops since we were so excited to see the new changes!

Ahhh Ellen, Love it!! I am a huge fan of this ride, I was so happy when they redid it because it used to be so BORING but now it is cute and funny AND you can learn from it!! :thumbsup2

That is so funny that you got stuck and had to be evacuated off. What was it like getting a sneak peak at this one? I guess it might not be that exciting because you just go out the way you came or something? I've never had to exit mid ride so I've always been curious about it.

Ok, so my favorite memory of this attraction was our 06 trip. We have a tendency to find random lines in preshow videos that crack us up. This time it was Ellen's "winning" comeback of calling Jamie Lee Curtis's character "Stupid Judy!". Everytime we bumped into an annoying tourist on this trip we referred to them as "Stupid Judy". I guess you had to be there, it was hilarious to us at the time, and we still say it on occasion. Oh man we are nerds. :rotfl:

Oh and to answer your questions from my pervious ginormous post, yes we did get wet in the front row of Fantasmic and it was cold so that was the only negative part of the night! And yes, DF really did think the golf ball in Soarin' was real, which I thought was hilarious and I explained that Disney does not attempt to kill any tourists on rides by shooting objects at them :lmao:

HM ~ The past couple of trips we spent a LOT of time on this one trying to find all the secret Sally and Jack stuff. Still no luck. :rolleyes1

Ellen ~ This is the ultimate ride for breastfeeding! :rotfl2: This is actually one of my favorites.

Well actually there was this exit right in the room we were in that took us to a hallway and then outside.

I loved that Jamie Lee Curtis was in the pre-show too!

Aw bummer.

Haha, yeah big lawsuits if they were real!

Haha, okay I will take note of the breastfeeding tip for when I have kids! :lmao:
