~Our June '09 adventure~ I'm home! Started TR 7/2

I don't really have a funny SE memory... but to me it is just one of those classic Disney rides. I love riding it as soon as we get to Epcot especially when there is no line. I really like the refurb they've done, especially the new interactive part... it's hilarious! Now we always try and make strange faces at the camera so the end is funnier. Very mature.:rotfl:

If I get a total jerk I always let GS know. And if I get someone over the top...they find out about that too. These people get recognized too if they get a bunch of good compliments. I usually turn in the servers for going out of their way...but we've also written out good cards for resort CM's as well.

We always tell the good CM's...waiters..whatever if they've done a great job. Sometimes they need to hear that! I'm sure they don't get it a lot.

Haha, yes WDW does make you a kid again-so it's okay for not acting your age!

Back in 1983 we obviously didn't have the internet or capability of seeing pictures of rides, unless you knew someone personally. So when my Dad and Grandmother took me to Epcot, well we had NO clue what the rides were like, other than what we read on the park map.

So there we were, got in line for SE and just looking up at the HUGE sphere really, really intmidated me. I was only 11 at the time too...so you can imagine what was running through my head. When we boarded the cars, it was PITCH black at the beginning...I was scared but as we went along I calmed down. And when we got to the top and turned around..OMG that was SOOOOO cool!!

OK well I am all caught up on your PTR now! I love all the Disney shirts you got...they are adorable! I also think that the attraction of the day is a fun idea. So now here's a couple more of my stories:

Big Thunder Mountain:
I still remember the very first time I went on it. I believe I was 10 years old that trip. Before our trip I said I was going to ride it but then I remember walking into Frontierland, seeing it in the distance, and my heart was just racing! I was really scared to do it. But I managed to get on and loved it. When we got off, my youngest sister, who was five at the time, was crying. Not because she was scared but because she wanted to go on again! :rotfl: Needless to say she is now the daredevil of the family.

Soarin':
The first time I rode this I was actually in Disneyland with my dad and sister. We were at California Adventure and the line was sooooo long so we knew we probably wouldn't be able to ride. But this one couple came up to us and had I think 4 fastpasses that they weren't going to use so they gave them to us! So we got to ride and absolutely loved it. I was so excited when I found out they were putting it at Epcot. On our trip in 2005 they were doing the previews so we got to ride it there too with my mom and other sister and they all loved it too. I think my favorite memories of Soarin now are seeing/hearing everyone's reaction to it because everyone seems to love it. :goodvibes It's by far one of my all-time favorite Disney attractions.

Oh yeah, I have another story from Soarin too...on our last trip we were on there and when it was the golfing scene, the lady next to me had obviously been on the ride before because she kept saying "I will not duck at the golfball, I will not duck at the golfball, I will not duck at the golfball." :lmao: :lmao:

Oh man Spaceship earth. On our 2005 trip as we stated going up my brother said wouldn't be funny if this ride stopped (since a lot of attractions seemed to be going down). No joke as soon as he said that it stopped. We ended up being stuck on the incline for 20 minutes before we had to evacuate. :upsidedow

I don't have a specific memory of SE, but every time we reach the top, the car turns and we hear, "on our Space Earth", it takes my breath away! I love that part!

Ok...I don't have any memories :sad2: I've only been on Dinosaur once and that was in 1998...Buzz I've been on 2 times maybe and barely remember either time...Spaceship Earth the only thing I remember is from 2005 and it was that the line was really long but moved really quickly  I stink at this game!

Oh good going brother! You had to evacuate?! How was that?!

I get goosebumps!

Aw it's okay girl, at least your commenting!

I don't think I have any SE memories - although I do always get a kick out of the newsie paper boy on the ride - it reminds me of the movie "Newsies"

Hm... Spaceship Earth. My favorite memory would probably be from my school trip in 2001. I really didn't remember much of the ride from 2001 and I was amazed when the vehicles turned around and went down backwards, while we looked up at the "stars." So cool!

Attraction of the Day...

Beauty and the Beast

Okay..picture me..way back when I was 4..It was my 2nd time to WDW. We had just got done watching Beauty and the Beast at MGM and I was in awe-it was my favorite movie and I just saw them in person! We were standing right outside one of the exits that's off to the side and out of the way. We were letting the "herd" clear first before venturing back out. We turn around and there's the Beast walking out! He sees me, stops walking, and gets down on his knees and holds out his hand. He just sits there and waits for my reaction because he doesn't want me to be scared of him. I look up at mom and she smiles and I run over to him and hug him. And as I'm hugging him, my dad took a picture and it's now one of my favorites!

Awwwww! That's such a sweet story! :cloud9:

I LOVE Beauty and the Beast! :lovestruc I was only three at the time, but I still remember going to the theater to see it. popcorn:: It was the first time I'd ever seen a movie inside a theater so I was already impressed by the huge screen. But when it got to the ballroom scene? I still remember thinking, "WOW!!!!"

As for a memory related to the show, I remember this one time, at the end of the show when the Beast turns back into the Prince, he looked at Belle and said, "Belle...it's me...Adam!" I was all, "Adam?" Never before had I heard the Beast use a real name. He's either called Beast or Prince in the movie, and Disney usually claims that Beast doesn't have a "real" name. However it seems that there is an urban legend that Beast's real name IS Adam. So either that legend is true or that Beast had gone rogue and was adding his own lines! :rolleyes1

Going back to Spaceship Earth, I don't really have a specific memory. As wlwilliams9 said, I love the part at the top before your descent. Gives me goosebumps every time. :wizard:

Aw, you have to post the picture!

I'll try and find it when I go home this weekend!

I second! I'd love to see that pic!

I've never seen Beauty and the Beast.

You have to go see it!

Haha, Adam?! I would've gasped out loud during the show if that happened. Haha. He'll always be the Beast to me!

Awwww. I want to see it! My kids would freak to get backstage at this show! Think of all the cool characters you could meet. We've only done this one time and I loved it! I don't have a special memory from it...I do know it's time to go back though! :thumbsup2

My favorite memory of the Beauty & the Beast show is seeing DD's expression when the cast danced to Be Our Guest. She was so excited and moving to the music.

Another great memory wasn't at the show, but my cousin's 25th wedding anniversary party. They flew up 'Four for a Dollar' - the stagehand acapella group before the show - to perform their act before the main band, Johnny Maestro and the Brooklyn Bridge, performed. My family kept saying, "Is it? No. It can't be." Sure enough, it was!

OH my gosh! I'm jealous! I love Four for a Dollar!

ah both my children love this show - they are enthralled by it. Although the first time DD7 saw it she was obsessed by the stabbing scene. The conversation went like this....

DD - whats your favourite part?
Me - blah blah bah
DD - my best bit was when Gaston pushed the beast then the beast pushed Gaston then Gaston STABBED the beast!

then 5 mins later....

DD - whats your favourite part?

you get the idea. she rabbited on about this for days. with serious emphasis on the word STABBED. We thought she would never stop taking about it.

Still makes us laugh when we thing of the show.

Downside though was the last time i saw it I was sat next to family with a teenage son. I was sat next to the son with DD2 on my knee. He proceeded to spit on the ground about an inch from my feet. it was disgusting. Almost made me want to be sick. Yuk

Ohhh I just LOVE Beauty and the Beast. It is my favourite show at DHS. I could just sit there and watch it over and over. I love seeing the looks on children's faces when they see it for the first time. They're so enthralled.:lovestruc In December we were sitting beside a little girl of about 4? And when Belle came out in her yellow dress she turned to her sister (about 6?) and goes "Oh, isn't she beautiful?) It was just so sweet.

ScotsMinnie that is too funny!!!:rotfl:
