Our First Family Vacation...EVER! A June 2012 PTR

This is my first PTR or any kind of TR so you'll have to bear with me. My family of 4 have never been on any kind of family vacation so going to Disney for the first one will be wonderful! Ok, so on with the report!

The Cast of Characters:
Me-Alison: I am a stay at home mom of two wonderful kids. I love to spend time reading and playing the the kids. I am also a wife to my wonderful husband, Jason. I have been to DW a few different times, most of which I can't remember. My last trip I remember there was in 2000 and we stayed at Grand Floridian. I have also been to DL a couple times. We stayed off-site there. My favorite Disney movie is The Little Mermaid.

DH-Jason: He is my high school sweetheart. He is a fun loving dad to our kids. He also works hard to provide the things we need for us. I love him bunches! Jason has never been to DW or DL. His favorite Disney movie is Aladdin.

DS-Caleb (8): Caleb is a great kid. He is eager to learn new things and try new stuff. He loves playing baseball and going to Cub Scouts. He also has two gerbils that he loves dearly. Caleb went to DL when he was 4 1/2. His favorite Disney movie is also Aladdin.

DD-Aurora "Rory" (3): Rory is a fun little girl. She loves being a girly girl and dressing up like a princess and playing baby dolls. But she also loves playing outside and getting dirty. Rory has never been to DW or DL. Her favorite Disney movie is Tangled.

Mom-Julie: My mom will also be joining us for our trip. Mom has been to DW and DL but it's been a LONG time ago. I'm glad we are able to take her with to share in the magic with us.

So we are planning on being at DW June 2-8. We are driving from Indiana so the plan is leaving around dinner time on the 1st so the kids will sleep through the night in the car. Oh yea, and this trip is a surprise to them! We are thinking of telling them when they wake up the following morning while on the road trip. That plan is still in the works

As far as resort goes, we really want to stay at AKL in a 2 bedroom. We plan on renting DVC points to be able to do this. I can't wait till I can finally book my dates and get it set in stone!

We are tossing the idea of the DDP back and forth. Luckily we still have plenty of time to decide for sure.

I've been looking into renting points as well and can't get over how much cheaper it is!!!!

You have plenty of time to decide on the DDP. We use it every time and LOVE it. I like knowing the meals are paid for, and in the past, we've gone during Free Dining, so it was even better! For some famlies it is not worth it, but like you said, you have time!

So, the rental car is booked! We are going with Enterprise as we've always used them for our rentals. I like how easy they are to deal with. With Enterprise, you can reserve a vehicle 1 year out from your date. We want a van since we'll have a long road trip. I found the rental for $457.25. We will pick it up around noon on the 1st and return it around noon on the 9th! That's a great deal! And I have a coupon for 10% off a weekly rental! Very excited! Jason thinks I'm crazy for booking it this early
